Bamboo in Nigeria: Reforestation and economic development

The opportunities to develop and commercialize bamboo in Nigeria are enormous. Bambusa vulgaris grows prolifically in the southern part of the country, while Lowland Bamboo is abundant in the dry north. Efforts have been made to promote the production of bamboo bath tissue and other products, and agroforestry projects are also underway, but more work is needed.
