I am gonna troll his fans hard when he bites the big one.
If he was so great, why didn't he win the Intercontinental title more than once? Why didn’t he ever win the World title?
@@gilson1982The fact that he held the title for a year tells you he was able to put @sses in the seats. He was great at his job.
As much as I couldn't stand him in his day, he absolutely did his job and loved the business. Respect!
I could listen to Honkey speak for hours. He’s a great storyteller
I've watched so many shoot interviews with him that I have 😎
Nah he trashier
Warrior beating Honky Tonk Man was the single greatest moment of that first SummerSlam. I can’t even remember what the main event was, but I remember that match.
Damn, guy was such a pro. Knew exactly how to job out to Warrior in such a way as to get the maximum possible pop for everyone involves. Knew the guy’s strengths and weaknesses and how to utilize his character properly with his own.
Agreed, I couldn’t stand the Honkey Tonk Man as a kid. As an adult that’s when I realized how good of a heel he was.
I was at MSG- he's right, the place absolutely erupted when Warrior came out and again when he won. Honkey was the perfect heel because everyone wanted to see him lose.
He was famous for being a loser. That sums up his life.
He was famous for failing. That sums up his life.
@@gilson1982what ??? Warrior Won Against Vince McMahon in Court bought a home in Arizona and Gym & Got Married & had two daughters. According to Honky Tonk Man & Kamala & Al Perez & Bad News Brown Warrior was Nice to them. Paid for Kamala Hotel& rental car When Vince McMahon didn't want to pay him .
@@gilson1982HTM was IC Champion 😂 even when he lost he won that just speaks to his talent
@@kylonbell123 - He never won the I.C. Title more than once. Nor was he ever a World Champion. He ripped off Elvis, he was a flavor of the month and a Hogan stooge.
I love the Honky-Tonk man, I was a massive fan of the heels when I was a kid.
Thank you, Honky Tonk! 🙏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾
I know he hated working for Stampede Wrestling but we loved him here and were totally proud when he made it in the WWF with all the other stars that worked for Stampede here in Canada, we really were spoiled for talent here in Calgary with stampede wrestling.
2:40 I lost it when Honky Tonk Man imitated Warrior's entrance and theme song. 😅
His warm up to do the music was funny too.
SAME 😂😂😂😂
Man that was gold.
Yes. I absolutely lost it hilarious 😂
I always loved Honky, back in the day. A great dude. Love from England, big fellah!
I couldn’t stand this guy as a kid. 🎸. He did his job well 👏
Honestly I kinda liked him as a kid even though I knew he was a bad guy
I just thought he sucked. No that great a wrestler why do you think later on he was let go.
I couldn't sand him either, but when I watch him back now I love his character
Same. Had that go away heat when I was 8.
Hated him
HTM is old school gold.
I remember after that match backstage, Honky was still dazed and said, "Did I win?" I didn't like him back then but he was hilariious 😅 Another funny moment in a tag match against Bushwackers where he had his guitar on one of the Bushwackers head and posed for a photo before he hit him 😂
"The day you cut The honky tonks men's hair is the day I'll be retired on a lake" such a boss line💪🏿
Then he said something about unless you got a retirement package for me 😂😂
He's right about one thing, decades later I can still muster some of that old hate I had for that character. It's like someone reminding you of a favorite restaurant that went out of business years ago, but you can instantly taste the food at the mere mention of it. My hatred for Honkey Tonk Man (the character) is the exact same way.
I was a Warrior fan because of his quick win over HTM. Summerslam 88 was my first pay per view.
Must have been great. I saw warrior come back in 1996 a long with Jake the snake 🐍.
Had Summerslam 88 on tape back in the day.
@2:35 LOL!🤣his impression of warrior's music/demeanor!! 🤣😂😭that's gonna stay in my head for a while!
I Love the Honky Tonk Man, Mannnnn....He was so Charismatic and Believing.
Being a big fan of Elvis Presley I was an instant fan of the Honky Tonk Man. I get his gimmick immediately and I loved it. A Heel Elvis Presley character? I'm there brother. I hope he sees this because I want him to know that the Honky Tonk Man is one of my favorite old school wrestles and Vince McMahon and the WWE are fools for losing you. You are absolutely THE Greatest WWF Intercontinental Champion...OF ALL TIME!!! Also I agree with him; Steamboat is truly one of the Top Ten greats of the Industry...BAR NONE!!!!
He was very cool in video games too very fun to play as a character
Hearing Honky Tonk praise Ricky Steamboat was unexpected. I've always thought Steamboat was one of the greatest technical wrestlers of that era, (just watch any of his matches with Ric Flair or Savage), but never thought someone like Honky would ever acknowledge that...
I have SO MUCH respect for HTM
Wayne had one of the most underrated heel turns in history.
Honky has a great mind for the business, he knew how to draw money & get over as a heel.
2:36. Honky was a fabulous heel. Super IC champ.
He did funny heel promos, especially with mean gene.
Honky Tonk and Jimmy Hart were fantastic together.
6:54 Honky's view on the pro wrestling business is logical.
warrior rude feud was great.
If he was so great, why didn't he win the Intercontinental title more than once? Why didn’t he ever win the World title? Why were his hands so small? Why was he scared of Dynamite Kid?
He did the job right,i wont forget him💐
HTM is a true legand. I was so happy to meet him at a con and get an auto.
If HTM did make that call, he was spot-on brilliant. It accomplished everything it needed to do. It got UW way over while not giving the audience enough time to see his lack of ability. Well done.
HTM was a fantastic heel! Everyone wanted to see him lose…I hated him when I was little & he never lost ..so much heat…job well done
I still remember the interview after Summerslam. Honky said to Mean Gene, something like: "I said I'd wrestle anybody. I didn't say I'd wrestle a warrior. God damn it, Mean Gene, they sent a warrior. It's not fair. The belt is mine. I'm the greatest of all time!" A classic character in WWE history. Of course, that IC Title match was when I became a huge fan of the Ultimate Warrior.
Arguably in the top 3 greatest heels of all time pantheon, surrounded by Rick Rude ( R.I.P. ), & prime heel, late 70's-late 80's Randy Savage ( R.I.P. ). HTM was a brilliant performer, well-spoken, & highly underrated. He mastered how to work a crown into a frenzy with what he said, good bumps & body language. His interviews in the early part of his IC reign, he was a powder keg on the mic, well before Bubba Ray Dudley's infamous ppv pipe bomb. The pop he got when he dropped the IC belt was like an orgasm reaching climax. This is what pro wrestling is missing today. Honky, the writers, & everyone who was involved with his IC title reign, right up to this build up did everything right. Fans could not wait to finally see Honky get beat! It didn't matter if Warrior was the shits- that was one of the greatest crowd pops of all time
Rude,, Million dollar perfect. honky donk man is not top 3!
Always liked the heels growing up and HTM does a pretty good interview
He is absolutely right. I hated him as a kid and that meant he was doing a great job.
Honky Tonk Man was so bad...is what made him cool, but he wasn't supposed to be a Bret Hart or Benoit, he was exactly what he was supposed to be, that's what put him over, one of my favorite heels of all time; great on the Mic, took falls well, broke the rules to win, you can't ask for more than that to get heat from the fans, job well done, thank you, Wayne Ferris!!!
The same analogy can be used for Warrior and Berg. They weren’t supposed to be putting on a technical spectacle, they were supposed to make fans thing they are unstoppable with brute force no nonsense smash mouth action. If Vince thought it was important to make him train to work correctly then he would have before he gained this poor reputation with his peers. Vince only cared about the money and not so much about his talents health and well being back then. Imagine the warrior with proper training? It could have been beautiful if done right, there is a middle ground that could have been met.
As an 80’s kid and wrestling fanatic I hated and loved Honky Tonk. Now as an old dude I loving hearing the stories.
I loved the Honky Tonk Man character! 💯🔥👏
Honky Tonk was Great. I didnt hate him because he was very entertaining and funny. And when he played a tune on dudes it was epic. He hit Machoman with that guitar and all that dust flew. 😂😂😂. When Warrior beat him at Summer Slam it was unexpected and exciting. Then HTM said I said I would wrestle anybody. I didnt say nothin about no Warrior. 😂😂😂😂😂
you have to respect guys that understood the business and did what it takes get the crowd hype even if it didnt benefit them directly...
@ 2:41 is the best moment in UA-cam history
Thanks for the video, TITLE MATCH WRESTLING
Honkey was one of my favorite heels as a kid.
Honky Tonk gives the best interviews
Legendary heel. Great interview.
Shake, rattle and roll is still my favourite finisher ever!
Respect to Honky Tonk Man for helping to putting Warrior over.
Honky Tonk man is a legend
We wanted to see him get beat in Stampede every weekend!
I love when he say's Mac Man! lol
Come to think of it - those Ultimate Warrior vs Hercules matches were my favorite matches ever
Honky may not know it, but he's def in my top 10 heels of all time. One of the greats. On my heel Rushmore.
HTM played an excellent heel I always thought.
The Honky Tonk Man was a great wrestler with great Performance
From what I've heard Honkytonk's title length was never intended, he was supposed to lose the IC Title much earlier, but the people they were looking at to dethrone him for one reason or another kept being forced to bow out before it happened.
Steamboat was one of the goats
You talk about Piper, Dibiase, Lawler, Flair as the best heels. This guy was as good a heel as anyone. Hella underrated star. And sold like a mfer
I'm just waiting to hear "Mister Mack-Man"
I can picture now, some babyface character ripping the wig off and Honky & Jimmy Hart going crazy...
Remember America is A Funny Place To Be If your in the entertainment business Legends like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and Even John Wayne If Someone in The Wrestling Business goes out there as a Character Of One Of THEM the fans won't like that Why because they have seen this before if he the honky Tonk Man Had of Come out as a different person he might have gotten over with the fans but he didn't and people who are lookalikes to these legends never get over.
Greatest of All Time! ! !
I loved Honky Tonk man when I was young.
I loved the Honky tonk man as a kid and got made fun of for doing so! However, ultimate warrior was my favorite, so I wanted him to beat Honkys ass!
MacMan 😭👍
Not sure of the gimmick he mentioned, but I think he's right about _Bad News Brown_ having alot of potential. You can see in interviews that he was pretty bright. Could've cut some decent promos and whatnot.
I did not root for the HTM back in the day, but, he's a great dude.
Honkey is a funny ass man😅😅
I was the opposite. My friends we Warrior fans and I was always HonkyTonkMan fan
HTM had good heat. You wanted to see this wrestle so he could get beat.
Honky Tonk Man one the greatest 👍
Honk was very good at his job. Even when he came back for an extremely brief stint in the attitude era he was darn near perfect. I still dont know why that angle got scrapped.
He failed at his job with me. I loved the Honky Tonk Man.
Top 10 workers [in no particular order]: Flair, Steamboat, Bret, Eddie G, Shawn, Angle, Perfect, Lance Storm, Rude, RVD. Honorable mention: xpac, Benoit, Dibiase
No Sheldon Benjamin 🤨
@rayshardsmith2546 there's always a few that get forgotten. I would put Booker before Shelton. I stopped watching around 03-04.
Chris Benoit 🐐
Hated him as a kid. Love him as an adult. It was a great character and I watch his old matches and laugh so hard. He was awesome.
Man, I hated this guy so much when i was s kid. I'm like his biggest fan now.
We love you, Wayne!
I agree. If he made 7000 and the main even tear made a million, that’s terrible
He was such a great heel.
💥HONKY TONK WAS VERY ENTERTAINING WITH HIS MANAGER 🎉
I never hated HTM all that much. To my young self, he was just another guy that wasn't really flashy enough to catch my tiny attention. Turns out, he's a stand up guy.
Sad Honky Tonk deserved more appreciation. Shake Rattle and Roll!!!
Respect do to the man , I use to hate that character. He did a great job.
Honky and Greg Gagne should have started a wrestling league. They would have sold out everywhere
Very professional
Best 30 second match of all time
Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All Time!!!!
That part about ricky steamboat. Is that when he took some time off for his sons birth or when he left the wwf?
Probably one of the best heels ever, couldn't stand honky tonk.
You know I gotta have the belt in the towns? Well, that sure changed with Brock and Reigns and those cushy schedules. Lucky to get them to wrestle on TV let alone a house show.
Didn’t they start his run with the fans voting by phone whether he would be a heel or face?
Honky comes up with different stories abt Warrior . One i watched he said " I never had a problem with Jim "
Yeah lots of wrestlers actually liked Warrior, just the ones jealous that he was pushed to the moon fast didn't.
Bring him back...for a few episodes on raw
his version of warriors theme 🤣🤣😂😂
Warrior was never a good worker but his charisma & physique put him over
Obviously dummy. They need to take the comments off of these videos
@relaxandgetoverit8393 calm down ms. Sensitive
The sky is blue
I do remember it back then in WWF Wrestling in 1985 or 1986 years.
I do remember it back then in WWF Wrestling in 1985 or 1986 years.
❤Honkey Tonk Man!😊
Because that's what Vince told him to do.
🎶 no na na na no no no no no noooo!🎶 😂😂😂
not everyone hated you. My mom and I were both big Honkey Tonk Man fans.
Say what you want about warrior but he was in several classic matches
Warrior was getting super popular by that point in 1988. It was the right time. No one cared about Beefcake
Warrior was a cerebral assasain. His technical ability inspired Bret Hart. Thats why Bret was The Hitman. Because Warrior hit a man
Honky is one of the best heels ever
He's right. I hated him, but when he was gone, I missed him
