    Sadly a lot of women died young back then as a result of complications of giving birth.

    At the 5:07 mark you can hear an EVP, it sounds like a spirit is saying "Hiiiiiiiiiii". very clear. Great capture.

    At 13:15 the grave marker is for Cornelius Van Fleet. This site has a photo of the marker as well as mentioning that it's in the Washington Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Union County, PA. www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12613714
    There's also a photo of what appears to be another grave marker or maybe a memorial marker for him. From the top photo of the other marker on that site I linked, it's right in front of the one you showed on the video. Place of death is noted on that website as Lycoming County, PA.

    The echo is unreal in the bunkers; great sound effects as result. would be fun to hear music played or singing done in them. here, we white wash graffiti and often it stops it. looks like a full time job up your way with all the graffiti you run into. wish you didn't have to put up with that when you are out enjoying nature and old structures. as you say, "oh well."

    Thats 20 mins from where I lived and grew up. We use to go to the bunkers and goof around at night. Hunted there to. And fished in the ponds. ALLENWOOD Federal Prison Complex butts up against there. Locals call this place the ordinance. So if you ask directions. Just ask about the ordinance bunkers and the prison. You'll be directed to it. There's 3 prisons there. The low. The medium security. And the max. USP ALLENWOOD. So yes there are a lot of high profile dangerous criminals. You should do your homework

    Howdy! Like you, I too enjoy walking around in old cemeteries and reading the grave markers. To use your word, those were some "cool" cemeteries in this video. I really enjoyed your low-key personality, also. I mean that as a compliment. You seem like someone I would enjoy hanging out with. I hit subscribe and will look forward to your next adventure. Cheers, my friend!

    I grew up in the area. I used to attend White Deer Valley Baptist Church near there. It was the only church to survive the "ordinace". In the cemetery of that church there are veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War. There is a whole lot of history in that valley.

    I’ve noticed in these old cemeteries whether they are in the north or south always has cedar trees planted in them. And it’s because cedar trees are supposed to represent everlasting life. I think that’s really cool. I’m not sure if that’s still done today but I doubt it. I absolutely love these old cemeteries and all the history they hold.

    I lived a half mile from these and would have a great time exploring them as a kid. Up until the early 90's there was only the one prison and it was a low security "country club" where some Watergate folks ended up. The new prison is a minimum-medium-maximum security complex that completely destroyed the night sky with all the lights. The fence you see is just a property barrier and is not meant to keep people in. I know of people who would slip to the other side to hunt during deer season. I'm so busy visiting family when I'm up there, I never get a chance to walk around there but really should do it soon. Thanks for making the video.

    After watching your video, which I enjoyed, I did some more research. I found that some of those bunkers contain radioactive materials from the Manhatten project.
    In 2011 the EPA did some scans for radiation and found two bunkers with sealed drums. The bunkers were on State game lands.
    I am telling you this because I would not want anyone to get sick there. That sealed bunker and perhaps the one on prison land may have contaminants.
    Be careful out there and thanks for the great lessons and Videos.

    I wonder what it looked like in use. Were there wooden crates or special containers to help protect what they were storing? Were the amounts of TNT kept at a limited level in case one did explode? How well would one of these structures have contained a mishap?

    i watch 539 productions he does lot of these,and i find that alot lived to be from the mid 60,s to 80 plus, and they say we live longer now,i really ? that

    • @restinwalken
      @restinwalken 4 роки тому

      I know this is a really late reply to you but the reason people think we live longer now is the average life span was brought down by infant and young children mortality rates. If you made it to your 10th birthday the likelyhood you'd make it into your 60's was pretty good. Many didn't even make it to the age of 5. This also shows how a "Parent should never outlive thier child" is quite a modern ideology in just the past 100 or so year's with the invention of modern antibiotics, drugs, and vaccines. It was quite common for most families before and during the 1900's to loss one or more children to disease or illness.
      But when you hear the average lifespan was 40's thats taking all lifespans of the time and averaging them together. Not that people usually only made it to the age of 40. Though that's an easy miss understanding of the statement if you forget or dont know that children die far more offen then they do now at least in first and second world countrys that is.

    • @restinwalken
      @restinwalken 4 роки тому

      So to put it simply we do live longer now because more people make it to their 60's or older. Then they did in the past. Not that we now live more years just that more of us live to those old years.

    Thanks for sharing cool places like this! I was down in PA and made a stop here. Those bunkers sound so cool when you stand right in the middle! If you go, stay out of the first bunker at the entrance. The State Game Lands Authority stores stuff in there and doesn't trust people not to steal. The ranger might come say hi if he sees the door open. The other bunkers are fair game!

    The draped urn is a common symbol in old cemeteries. It was especially popular in Victorian times. There are various interpretations of its meaning. Some see the urn as symbolic of the ashes, the remains of the mortal body and the cloth as the departed immortal soul. The cloth is also interpreted as the veil between life and death. The urn as a death symbol goes back to ancient Greece where the dead were cremated and the ashes placed in urns, much as today. The symbolism on old grave stones is an interesting study.
