WHY Anxiety's Eye Color is GREEN in INSIDE OUT 2?...
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- So, what's the deal with Anxiety's eye color from the Inside Out 2 trailer. First off, she's standing out big time, not just in color but in her whole design. Her face is like nothing we've seen with the original five emotions. Now, peep this - her eyes are a whole different story. While she's rocking that full-on orange look, her eyes are a totally different shade - green. It's a total game-changer because, you know, with the Original crew, anger's red all the way, fear's got purple eyes matching his skin, disgust's got green eyes to match her vibe, sadness is rocking blue eyes, and joy's got those matching blue eyes for her blue hair. But Anxiety? Green eyes on a totally orange canvas. Weird, right? And here's the kicker - Anxiety's not flying solo. The trailer and movie poster spill the beans that there are three other new emotions joining the party, and they're keeping it consistent with eye colors matching their skin. Intriguing, right? We're just gonna have to wait it out until the movie drops. The suspense is real!

The huge design difference focusing on the mouth is probably to do with the fact we all do an over exaggerated "smile" when we are anxious
That’s genius! And so true
We dont all do that? Ik i dont smile when im anxious i usually look really sad or scared

Not really
@@monbub when somebody envies someone else, its really for him/her to compare themselves to the ones they envy. That's where anxiety starts to form, feeling that they aren't good enough
Cool story. Except anxiety has almost nothing to do with envy in the human experience.
Since joy is the main emotion, she has a separate color from her skin. Anxiety would probably become another “main emotion”
It's this, not sure why he glossed over Joy's eyes so quickly.
@@rellikx7519he mentioned it “matching her hair”
Though mf: we were talking about how every other emotion has eyes that match their skin color: green eyes and skin for disgust, red eyes and skin for anger, etc.
That makes way too much sense considering I've got untreated anxiety.
I thought he'd say that Joy has blue eyes/hair in her design to show that joy always appears after sadness (bc sadness is blue)
i thought joy had blue hair and eyes (unlike other characters that have same colored hair and eyes) is that, it foreshadows how joy learns that sadness is an important emotion too
Maybe it's because she's disgusted by herself and that's the root of her anxiety
I had this same thought as well.. we all know that emotions can be blended together like what the first movie shows and you’re allowed to have mixed emotions/feelings. However things like anxiety do have deeply rooted causes which leads me to believe this is to be true.. Rylee may feel disgusted about her going through puberty. As a girl we all know that’s a terrifying part of our lives, from periods, body hair and pimples.. it wouldn’t surprise me at all if her disgust about her body’s changes manifesting into anxiety…

I think it adds to how anxiety and joy are both main characters, joy being the main emotion in rileys childhood and for her teen years anxiety becomes the main one
It seems to be more like Envy's green than Disgust's. Sometimes anxiety can stem not from apprehension, but from desiring from others.
Its for both
If you are anxious is is often because you desire to be loved, to accepted or to fit. How is this not apprehension? Because if you’re anxious you worry that you won’t get any of this and bad things will happen because of it.
This isn’t the same as jealousy, It’s not desiring physical things that someone owns or wanting to have all the aspects of their lifestyle. That doesn’t automatically make anxious person jealous. If they are then that is another aspect of personality that they have.
the whole plot of the movie is basically anxiety being envious of joy
I think that's the point; you're feeling anxious by just looking at her, something feels "odd" and that's how anxiety feels.

The actual reason is because green and orange are opposing colors on the color spectrum. Having opposing colors in a color scheme is usually used to convey a sense of clumsiness, disorganization, and believe it or not, anxiety.
They're not though. Orange's opposite is blue, and green's opposite is red.

@@warioplush ok but I never said green. And depending on the shade of yellow it might make her look cool
You know when you finally achieve something and then, along with the rush of happiness you also feel a little sadness that it's over? Yeah, maybe that's why (other than design reasons)
Just my idea, i dunno
I think she's based on the saying "there's no happiness without sadness"
The point of the first movie was that happiness needs sadness to exist. A person cant be happy all the time. I think similarly anxiety's eye color also symbolises that she needs some other emotion to exist, which looks like embarrassment.
I think it’s because anxiety can bring a feeling of discomfort/disgust. With yourself or with your environment/peers

Speaking as an artist who’s done character design before : usually a viewer’s focus should be on the character’s face, anxiety’s eyes aren’t exactly green, they’re more of a teal green
On the color wheel orange is complementary(opposite) to blue
Most of the emotions have a feature to help make the face stick out and focused, like disgust having pinkish/purplish makeup, Joy’s hair and eyes being a darker blue so there’s focus on the brighter, warmer colors (that being her skin ofc) and the lips being a stick out to help focus more in on her face
So Anxiety having teal green eyes helps to be viewer not only focus on her face, but also help her design pop
Also the lighter color eyes helps her irises stick out to really reel in that ‘anxious’ vibe
Anxiety can make you scared of being diffrent, so Anxiety isn’t matching to reflect how Anxiety will make Riley feel like she’s diffrent from everyone else
I think it’s because Joy has blue within her outfit to show that she is connected the most with sadness because we see in the beginning of one of the memories where Riley was happy and then it switches to sadness later, so it correlates the two sadness and joy, so I think with anxiety having green eyes, it shows that she’s going to be correlated a lot with disgust
She just looks like what anxiety feels like
It could probably hint at which emotion gets the most focus and development throughout their debut appearances. It is strange that unlike the other emotions in the first movie, Joy was the only one with a different eye colour and hair colour compared to the colour of the rest of her body. She also happened to be the emotion who gets the most character development and focus throughout the movie. It's probably gonna be the same going for Anxiety in the second movie
I totally agree with you!
Lol I just posted something similar because I didn’t scroll far enough to see this yet! I totally agree it’s main character syndrome.
It’s interesting because the first movie was about joy feeling as though she could only be happy just to end up crying about being bong when she realized she was wrong all along. She has sadness as a part of her with her eyes. That’s why I think this is a good thing to point out

It's maybe something about how people usually don't enjoy when there's a black dot in a fully white canvas, like her eyes. It's like something people don't enjoy, like anxiety. Idk if it makes sense how I said it, I often have trouble explaining things, but yeah.
This is how you explain anxiety
"CARROT"
Joy unlike others have different eye color , matching hair color but disgust and sadness have same hair color too , joy stands out but in inside out 2 anxiety stands out so probably thats why
From the first movie we learn in the end that there can be sadness in happy memories, which is hinted in Joys blue hair and eyes. Maybe they’ll do same with anxiety. Emotions aren’t so black and white when it comes to their differences, with some melding. Joy even wears green clothes, and she was often disgusted by the others, mainly sadness, making memories. Being a teen and honestly then after, you’ll be disgusted in yourself, getting anxiety about the way you look and act compared to anyone else
Joy gets multiple different colours in her design because she's the most prominent emotion (and main character) of the first movie and early childhood stage of life. So maybe Anxiety gets a little bit of extra colour because she's gonna be the most prominent emotion (and most important character) during the second movie and teenage hormones stage of life.
Anxiety stands out, causing more anxiety.

My theory is the eyecolor goes with the emotion they’re supposed to match or go with. You said that Joy has blue eyes to match her blue hair, but her eyes also match sadnesses eyes. The whole point of the first movie was without sadness there can be no Joy. Same goes with something disgust and anxiety. Something like disgust and anxiety go hand-in-hand. Also, it could just signify that anxiety is the new main character, Similar to Joy with her eyes, not matching her skin
I heard that it’s because disgust is green, and every time you feel disgust you get anxious.
Inside out 3: how did happiness die?

My theory is that the green eyes refers to jealousy because of the quote from shake spear “O, Beware my lord of Jealousy. It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock the meat it feeds on.” This could mean that the emotion anxiety is jealousy of other people who don’t have or act like they don’t have anxiety.
That has nothing to do with anxiety. If you’re anxious you’re not jealous of someone you’re scared of not getting something right or being ably to cope.
@@sodorflubbs5000jealousy and envy are the same, and anxiety's eyes are the same shade of green as envy.

My theory is that joy is yellow but parcially blue because she needs sadness and they both go well together. So maybe anxietys eyes are teal because she connects and needs either disgust or envy.
Apparently the main emotions are each based on a shape, so maybe anxiety's unique design is also based on a unique shape like a volcano perhaps?😂
It could also be like how in character design, they use a complimentary color to break up the aesthetic- like how joys eyes are blue instead of yellow like her skin, or how disgust has the purple neck tie, little things to break up the overall color pallet and make the design more visually appealing.
Anger screaming with only underwear at the end is hilarious.😂

what always bothers me is that joy has blue hair. blue has always been associated with sadness and is with the character sadness. i’d say the next “happiest” color from yellow would be pink, and that would’ve worked well since they didn’t have any pink characters yet. or just stuck with yellow
You pointing out and trying to scan every detail of her is why her design is a perfect personification of anxiety.

The whole thing is flawed because joys eyes match her hair. That's it. It's just a design. That's literally it.
"Mom and dad, **** us? In public? No thank you." Is wild
I do like the idea that new emotions get assimilated into the main 5 since in Riley's parents' mind there are only the main 5 and you cant tell me that adults arent more complicated than a pre-puberty child so the eye colors could reflect who they join with
I’m assuming it’s because anxiety is going to be more of a prominent character in the story. Similarly to joy, she has a color that stands out against her mostly orange design, unlike all the other emotions who are one monochromatic color. Artists often do this to make characters more memorable/stand out more against the other characters. Joy had a very recognizable design from the very start, this was to make viewers of the movie recognize her as a main character. Not only that but as these characters are named after emotions, they can more easily get confused for one another, as they don’t have very stand alone features like Elsa and Anna, who you can tell apart right away.
I personally think it's because she's the villian, and so stands out with it
bro its just green eyes calm down
I searched up some stuff. According to a google search, orange represents: optimism, confidence, enthusiasm, warmth, and agreeableness. I also searched up green’s: represent new beginnings and growth. It also signifies renewal and abundance. Alternatively, green can also represent envy or jealousy, and a lack of experience. I think the orange has nothing to do with it and green says it means growth and you get anxiety when you are a teenager.
She has a mix of two colors to indicate her importance to the story, like how joy has yellow and blue. It makes them stand out more.
I already know that sparkly eyes one is gonna be my favorite.
That's Envy, and she does look cute!
Anxiety reminds me of a pen I had as a kid
The villain is always the most noticeable.
Anxiety might be a bigger emotion which is why she has different colored eyes because she holds other emotions within her anxiety. This might have happen because of in the last they realized it doesn’t have to be just one emotion all the time. Another theory is she’s 2 emotions and the eye represents the other emotion she might be. Maybe like a split personality thing? Idk I digress!
I’m so sad were getting three versions of fear basically I wanted to see the original characters combine and work together instead because it would’ve made more sense to the previous film
The reason joy has blue is because you can’t have joy without sadness
I think since joy also has eyes that standout even with her hair and she was one of the main characters in the first movie that this is kinda marking anxiety as the next movies main focus ( maybe it will be her and joy just like in the first movie it was joy and sadness).
I think that the more detail there is in the emotion the more important or consistent the emotion is to the person with those emotions
It’s because there’s a bit of disgust in her, disgust proneness is increasingly linked with symptoms of anxiety and OCD.
My guess is that Joy's eye color is different (cause the hair thing doesn't validate why they aren't yellow, when Sadness has the blue eyes) and she is in charge, so maybe anxiety will be in charge. Yikes.

Little does he know there are actually 5 new emotions joining anxiety, envy, ennui, embarrassment, nostalgia, joy, sadness, fear, disgust and anger are all of the emotions in inside out 2
i noticed this and also have always wondered why Joy has blue hair and eyes. Anxiety's eyecolor matches the skin color of envy, so i was thinking maybe they did that because sometimes being envious of something can cause anxiety (for example Riley was envious of the other girls who were already on the team, and her trying to seem as cool as she perceived them to be caused her anxiety). i came to a similar conclusion about Joy; like maybe she could be sad, but needs to stay seeming happy to uplift the others (since we actually saw her sad and hopeless in the movie).
idk i was just tryna figure it out lol
Her and joy having different eye colors set them out as main emotions
⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️
It’s probably because she was originally blue-ish green but she is trying to be someone else (like in the movie) especially because there is already a blue and green emotion
A study found that anxiety can affect color perception, and that there is a positive correlation between anxiety levels and the amplitude of flash visual evoked potentials (FVEPs) that are elicited by middle wavelengths of light, which are perceived as green.
Anxiety=discomfort
Discomfort=disgust
Well, since you pointed out Joy. She's also the only one with blue hair and eyes, which is different from all the other emotions. In the first movie, we also learned that joy can come from sadness. A sad moment can lead to being comforted and having a much better, happier time. We also see that Joy, more than any other emotion, displays emotions outside of her main emotion. She gets stressed out and will have moments where she actually cries. Maybe underneath all that joy, she harbors some sadness of her own.
Imagine if the creator of her desing made her eyes green just because it matched
I just saw it yesterday, and I'm so glad I saw it because I didn't wanna see much spoilers
Y’know the Inside Out color theory? Where the different color the emotions have on them represent a bit of one of the other emotions (For example, Disgust has a purple scarf, representing that Disgust has a bit of Fear)? Well, I think Anxiety has a bit of Envy.
Anxiety is the joy of her crew. Gotta make the leader stand out
It's green-blue, a mix of disgust and sadness, with fear's eye design and anger's warm coloring. It's kinda like a representation that anxiety is an overwhelming mesh of so many emotions at once.
Not to mention Joy's eyes and hair are blue to point out She's the focus of the first movie, so her eyes show she's gonna be the focus.
Anxiety is a combination of the desire for joy(frizzy hair), anger (reddish body) at its fleetingness, disgust and sadness (greenish-blue eyes) at yourself and surroundings, and of course, fear(floating brows) of the possibilities and uncertainty.
That is why they look like that, and it's honestly well thought out!
