We ❤ KOA! The best reasons to use them:
1. Consistently good to very good quality of the campsites and amenities.
2. Their reservation app is by far the best in the industry!!
Completely agree! Thanks you for watching and please share the video with your camping friends. :)
We have stayed at that KOA twice and owe them a debt of gratitude. They accommodated us when the other RV parks in the area were closed and rolled out to find us a site and get us settled. Generally we stay at KOAs, because they have sites when other CGs do not. The down side to KOA is that many were located directly next to loud Interstate traffic or train tracks. We look long and hard for ones that offer a quiet stay and Albuquerque is better than most. We have never used KOA pool or bathhouse facilities, and we have walked away from the high price of Holliday parks. We find the Journey parks to be competitively priced, their reservation system convenient, and their management to be helpful and suopportive. They are not the only chain we use, but often find them to be the right solution for the location.. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and I'm sure other campers will find value in this comment. We remain completely satisfied with KOA. Thanks!
We keep a KOA membership. We usually end up needing them at least once a year. Not all KOA's are in great shape, however, we have never stayed in a bad one, even outside NYC. Great video, with good info.
Thanks for the comment David.
I guess we stayed in too many bad ones…..so we don’t even consider them anymore. Ft Mill, SC was awful. We needed to stay there because of the location was close to Charlotte where my Mom was living. Probably have not stayed in on for more than 5 years, now.
@@imeldahill7001 There are some bad ones out there. There are about 515 sanctioned KOAs but many more running on their own (from what I have seen). Reading the reviews before you go is key and this goes for any campground. I do appreciate you watching my video.
Love KOA. Best thing about them is the consistency of the parks. Just like going to a particular hotel brand, you know the level of service you will get. Clean washrooms, a small store for forgotten items and plenty of friendly staff. The booking site with the map feature, so you can find KOAs along your route, is also pretty good. The downside is that they are more expensive, but if you buy their annual membership card and use your points, you can save a few dollars. Worth the money for us to go camping for two weeks once a year.
Christopher you Nailed it. I agree completely. Thank you for watching and hope you subscribe to my channel. Safe travels.
We enjoy KOA's because they tend to be close to state parks and you can enjoy the full hookup experience and not have to dread waiting in line at dump stations at State Parks. The prices I can understand why some stay away, but you are paying for the convenience and peace of mind. THe owners work very hard to keep their KOA's great shape and we always leave a positive review. I always read the 1 star reviews to see what happened. Most of the KOA's have similar rules like trash pick up, but some have in the fine print that they do not or particular hours and experienced KOA campers have been dinged for trash pick up which leads to frustration. THank you for making this video!
Really appreciate your comment. Thank you for watching.
We stayed at KOAs occasionally during a year-long trip travelling through Canada and the US. One of the highlights of the trip was the KOA in Onalaska, TX. A lot depends on the people running it, but on the whole we were pleasantly surprised with KOA.
Thank you for sharing your KOA experiences and yes I do believe a lot has to do with the people actually running the day to day operation. Hope you had a chance to Subscribe :)
We have been RVing for the last 7 years or so. I've stayed at many KOA's. The plus is they are easy to get a reservation at. I've even called the day before July 4th weekend and was able to get a reservation. However, they are very expensive to stay at. If I can avoid staying at one, I will. I think they are really designed for the traveling family or if you just need a pit stop for the night. Otherwise to just stay at one for a week, you are going to dish out some serious money. We always look for State parks, county parks or ACOE campgrounds when we travel. If I can't find anything close to our destination, then I'll stay at one. Otherwise, forget it.
Some very good points, thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
We like being able to go online and make reservations easily. We like the full hookups and fairly level sites. Sometimes we use the laundry and campstore. They are held to a level of cleanliness and amenities. They’re usually easy to find.
Agree completely. Thanks Philip for watching.
Koa are great when you have young children because it’s nice to have running water and sewer when you need to clean kids up and all the things that go along with that. We enjoy the pools and playgrounds for the kids knowing that when we go there it’s a resort and not a forest camping experience.
Completely agree. Thanks for your comment.
We have enjoyed KOA overall. Some are right off the freeway and are perfect for a good night sleep on a long journey. Many even offer home cooked food! The best is in Flagstaff. Beautiful grounds with hiking.
Thanks for the tip on Flagstaff we will be there tonight. Thanks for watching.
Plan on using KOA some for a Route 66 trip. They are dotted all along the route.
That will be fun. Thank you for watching and hope you can Subscribe.
We've always had good experiences at KOA's. A couple were really amazing, one was in Chattanooga, TN and the other in Southaven, MI. Otherwise they mostly seem to be run by really nice people who have always been very accommodating.
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
KOA is a great, consistent product. Be sure to get a membership to save money and get points. Price is really mid-range these days and they are clean and secure parks. Take care and safe travels. ***They are also usually pet friendly!
Agree completely and appreciate your comment, Thanks!
You bet.
Nice video. I live in Albuquerque, but when I camp local, I prefer to stay at Route 66 RV Resort, or Isleta RV Park. I would never stay in the city. That being said, I love KOA's. We stay at a lot of them, and most are pretty good.
We really like Albuquerque so staying close in was fine. Quite surprised most of he restaurants in Old Town were closed--seemed to be bankrupt from COVID. Thanks much for watching.
@@LandingZoneHome Yes, our Governor has really killed business during the pandemic. Albuquerque, and New Mexico as a whole is still a beautiful place to visit.
@@TheTravelingBakers Hope the business can come back, its a great area. BTW we rode the Sandia Peak Tram and I have a video on that :)
I was turned away from the Springfield MO KOA for wanting to spend one night there while traveling cross country. I had been on the road nearly 12 hours and was very tired. I told the lady I didn't care what kind of site, and all I needed was a place to park my truck. She said they didn't want me there because I sleep in my truck camper instead of a tent. She then suggested a nearby truck stop and I learned that's where the homeless go. Now when I see the KOA logo I just feel bad. I seriously doubt I'll ever go to another one again.
Try a hotel next time.
Went to a Koa one time. Neighbor blasted music for 8 straight hours. Camp ground did nothing. Will never go to another kao again.
Yeah, that is not good at all. Appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.
KOA's seem to be higher than Motels in many areas. SAD!
They do on average run higher than most campgrounds but I have no idea what Motels charge now days. Thanks for your comment and for watching.
Typically KOAs are great. The online booking is great. Seems that standards are high. I've been to probably 12-15 of them and I really have always enjoyed them.
Completely agree. Thanks for your comment.
Nice review 👍🏼
Come back and see our city again
We loved it and will be back. Appreciate your comment and thank you for watching.
IN 2017 WE DID 9000 MILES/62 DAY ROAD TRIP. OVERNIGHTED IN KOA'S MOST NIGHTS. AS WITH ANYTHING ELSE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Totally agree. Appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.
Didn’t notice a single soul outside on what you said to be a beautiful late September day. We’ve used them on occasion and each were fine for an over night but not much as a destination to “camp.l.
Must be sleeping late or out sightseeing :) Thanks for watching.
Love Koa
I have several other KOA videos, please check them out and share with your camping friends. Thanks for the comment.
State campground for better rates
Yep, they are usually cheaper. Thanks for watch
I stayed at KOA recently the SOB sold my phone number now I get sales calls. Buffalo KOA Nashville what a rip off unlevel tight lots, no lighting, no TV either over the air or cable, loud highway noise all night, all for the low price of $62 far above other slum campgrounds. Scum selling personal info. NEVER AGAIN !
Never had a problem at any KOA but I guess there is a first time for everything.
Way to expensive just to be in there
That was my feeling for a very long time. Thanks for your comment.
@@LandingZoneHome good to find a state campground save some money
