I love you Helena, but have to disagree when you say that Labour voters in deindustrialised areas would never vote for the Tories because of the decimation wrought by Thatcher. Much of the Labour stronghold in the North, i.e., the Red Wall Went to the Tories in 2019. I was pretty distraught, coming from Newcastle as I do, and knowing what Thatcher did to our communities. It’s not good to blame the voters, but I came pretty close to it in 2019.

We’real trying to be different but it’s really difficult in the UK. The right wing media promote 1 side and 1 side only. Hence why reform are making gains. The right wing always make gains in times of economic struggle. The UK govt are in control of the economy in GB. We all get dragged down with them, just a little slower by using our institutions to protect us. Think bedroom tax, child payment in Scotland. It’s slowing reform Dow, but not stopping them. Our govt are fundamentally different to the uk govt. The people follow.
It’s the old deserving vs undeserving poor. “Can’t have the feckless reproducing at public expense… “ Idiocy. People just won’t say “don’t fuck me, we can’t afford it”.
It is in small ex industrial towns, lots of working class areas not just cities that are struggling to feed their kids. The ultimate case is. Why should any child suffer hunger due to a political choice. Especially a Labour government. Once child poverty is tackled and the lack of housing in general but also substandard housing. The working populations physical and mental health will be more stable and able to more of a productive worker. Aswell as the spenders the economy needs

I'm really disappointed in Gething. He could have easily returned the money and agreed to provide the details to the inquiry and could have stayed on at least until the 2026 elections. Coverups are what has done Boris in the public's eye, and Vaughan seemed to have followed the same playbook.
