And now thousands of us will be chopping up our plants....You have been my NUMBER 1 source for Anthurium care for quite some time....Thank you for all your videos!
Wow.. thank you SO much. I've inherited a VERY old clarinervium from a family member that passed, who inherited it from another family member that passed when I was a kid (at least 20 years ago) the old gal has two HUGE stems on them and one of them is losing its last leaf... I cant wait to make this heirloom last another 20 years! 🥰
WOW!! That is incredible to have such an old plant and one that is also a part of your family. That is so special! 😍 I hope you get many more plants out of this ❤️
Just coming here to say how I I appreciate you and all the knowledge you put out. I’m just getting into anthuriums in the plant form after designing with cut flower anthurium for years as a flower designer. I honestly feel so confident in buying, caring, growing and propagating these beauties thanks to you! Much love girl
This was excellent! Your instructions are so detailed and easy to follow. This video came at the perfect time for me I am just starting out with anthuriums ( I fell in love with them and need more to put everywhere ☺️) - but I couldn’t quite figure out how to propagate them with their crazy stems and roots. Thank you for sharing this!
So wonderful to finally find a site to help understand I have a plan like this I was calling it a peace lily but this one look as close to it with the stem anyhoo I was gone for like 2 weeks never had a problem with my plant in water this was given to me by dear lady friend and she had to plant for a long long time but when I get back home the plant had I guess you say look right but the plant still has a stem a flower a leaf the other leaf are brown and dried so I cut it hopefully it can be sprout and I cut the root part off &cut up to where it look ok and plant 1stub &put leaf 1in water. I hope I did the right thing any suggestion would be greatly appreciated from anyone in the comment section thank you so much 🙂
Hi, i wanna say thank you for the video. I’ve try your method 2 months ago but I dont have perlite so I am using pumice instead. And now I have 3 baby anthuriums.
I watched 4 times and still cant figure out where to cut the darn thing. I saw another clip where the root sections are further cut in half. Love you voice and your laboratory 😃. Hope you will have another clip of upclose and more detailed illustration of where to cut.
I've scen many films about anthurium from Brasil but my portugese is not good enough to grasp all the tips so it is nice to have it all explained in English.
Very informative video. Do you use peroxide or any other bleach to clean the cuttings to prevent rot or are they ok to go straight into perlite? And can I ask is the water changed frequently or not?
Ella I'm terrified of doing this. You are so brave 😱 Thanks for the video though. If at any point in my life I grow some b... and decide to do this now I know how. I appreciate the content of this video so much.😁
Does this method work with other plants? I received a xanthosoma lindenii in the mail completely rotted with the roots somewhat ok. Hoping i could revive it 😢. Also, propagating in pearlite, can you leave the bag closed until you see leaf growth or do you open it once in a while? Thanks! Love all the tips you provide :)
Maybe it's a dumb question but: I have leaves on my anthurium. How do you propagate them and keep the leaves? And what do you do with the bottom parts where all the roots are? Can it grow back once you've cut all the stem away?
Chloé Dilé I don’t seal them in a bag if they have leaves due to possible bacterial issues. I usually just put them in a vase. If you are just cutting the top and leaving the bottom with roots in soil it will eventually grow a new growth point 🤗
Do you ever have problems with mold? And if so, what do you do? I have a queen chunk that had some dead material on one side and after a few days it is getting some fuzzy white mold. I have now removed that section and am letting it callous over for a few hours. I also applied to hydrogen peroxide with a q tip. Any other suggestions? Don't want to lose this baby!
This is so helpful! I inherited a beautiful anthurium with pink flowers (not flowers...I didn’t remember the name) from my late grandmother, and (clearly) I’m a beginner with this plant. It seems to be overtaking its pot, so I’m carefully studying different prop methods. Just don’t want to lose her! When I cut the stem, should I remove the leaves?
My mum got a flamingo species but it's been a year now it doesn't produce any new shoots and she's being worried so i searched and just watched your video and ill go tell her to try stem propagation. thanks for sharing your ideas.
Very informative thanks for sharing! I haven't propogated Anthuriums yet but will definitely reference this👌 OMG try semihydro girl!!! So curious to see what your experience would be like with the method 😬
Rachael Firestone I keep meaning to but I just end up repotting them into soil 😂 that semihydro life seems like more work then I want 😅 I have too many plants for those flushing sessions
I have an anthurium that had arrived to nursery from Thailand in really bad shape. I got it for a steal but it lost its last leaf several months ago. I have it in the soil mix you did a video on, in a net pot, under a grow light and with humidity above 60%. It's roots are strong and about two inches long but every time I see any sign of green on top it isn't there the next time I look. Would putting in a bag help? Any suggestions? I know it is hard because you don't know my conditions but any thing you can think of would help. I really want it to LIVE! lol Thanks!
Hi hi, thanks for the informative vid. I had a question about this method: do you ever let your cuttings/propagations air out by opening up the zip-lock bag when you use this method? Im trying this method but i get kinda nervous that there isnt proper airflow or adequate oxygen being provided to the cuttings. Thanks so much in advance!
Do you have an update on how long they sook before tgey showed sighns of success. Propagated my Queen stump yesterday, and just want to estimate how long it might take 🌿
Very informative video! I like perlite a lot. I used it for rooting some hoya cuttings and they rooted within a week. Your propagation terrarium looks good.i love the brown marronish antherium new leaves, what is it called?
Loved your video! I want to try it. Where did you get the anthurium stem from? From a plant or you bought it? Can do a follow up explaining that? Thank you!
Would you do this only with recently shipped plants or plants that are stumps? How would you do this with ones that have leaves or just leave them alone? I noticed that Anthuriums that are doing well tend to self head and subdivide.
Paula Bollers I do this when they first arrive, plants that revert to stumps, and/or when they grow leggy overtime due to leaf drop. When they have leaves I don’t put them as bag as this could cause bacterial issues. I usually just put them in a vase lol (especially when one develops rot and I just want to rehab in some perlite 😊)
Small leaf came out, and still it’s in the water (it has been over 2 months). Do i have to repot when little leaf came out? It’s because 99% humid still inside of the bag, not sure when i should repot or move.
I have an el choco chonk I’m trying to root with this method! I have a question about lighting. Where it is right now, it does get a little filtered light for maybe an hour in our patio. Will it be okay in the bag? I live in Florida and I’m scared of steaming it to death.
I received a damaged stem - it has some roots, do you think this method will work?? In order to get the positioning right, some of the roots have to be in the part of the leca that is submerged in water, what do you think? Or should I transfer to sphagnum better?
It’s just better to add super thrive or if you don’t have it your could add a few drops of a rooting hormone or what it will just help the plant grow roots faster or start growing quicker
Good morning.I noticed you didn't leave a small opening in your zip locks? Also new Subbie.U are totally allsome.... Any knowledge on the cordyline. She's beautiful yet her leaves continually get spots 😢 even @ the big box stores their like that.I'm trying this method as whele to recreate a new cleaner cordyline. Any knowledge on sanservieria. I"m noticing not all of them take that south sun.Tid bits are appreciated.Thank you. Music is soft thanks😊💞💞🌹🌹
I recently bought a node from someone and it was completely dried out. It was also hollow inside and once I put it over some damp moss I then had to cut off some of the node because it started to look and feel mushy.
Thank you for this helpful video! I got my first anthurium last week and it has a very long stem. When you cut it, what do you do with the top part that has leaves? Can I also put it in perlite?
I want to do this with my magnificum but when I bought it it only had two actual roots and a giant thick stems with nodes all over it, would it be ok to cut it and do this without roots?
ok so i have an anthurium that wont stop rotting and its down to about half inch root and i have that classic anthurium base withno roots on it..if its lost all roots can i stck in moss and still get roots?
So I purchased 2 Anthurium Waroqueanum chonks. They look some what yellow is that normal? I am going to ask the seller but can't lie that's somewhat scary usually yellowing is bad with plants lol. Thought I would ask you!
Hi! I've cut up my anthurium and put it in perlite like you showed in your vid. But because I've recently had a few plants rot, I'm now worried these will too! Have you ever had one rot while using this method?
Bringing back a plant from the stem like this is sooo satisfying!
And now thousands of us will be chopping up our plants....You have been my NUMBER 1 source for Anthurium care for quite some time....Thank you for all your videos!
hahaha yes that is the master plan! lol. I am so glad to hear that!! Thank you 😍
Lmaooo I did it already lool
Wow.. thank you SO much. Amazing!! You are, or have become the Queen 👸🏻 of Anthurium!! Great job 😀
Thank you!! 😭 I still feel like they will implode one day but so far I feel like I am doing something right 😂
Great video. Thank you! How long do the first sign of growth usually take? And how often do you replace water? Thank you
I really appreciate that you are coming up with these great video ideas and sharing your experience.
Really happy to have seen your clear and patient explanation
This is awesome, my Anthurium cutting is having a baby green leaf in one month! When do I move it out of the perlite and into a pot?
This was excellent! Your instructions are so detailed and easy to follow. This video came at the perfect time for me I am just starting out with anthuriums ( I fell in love with them and need more to put everywhere ☺️) - but I couldn’t quite figure out how to propagate them with their crazy stems and roots. Dayna Perez you’re welcome!! I’m so glad this video can help aid you in your journey 🥰❤️🙌🏼
Thank you for showing me how to propagate a really long anthurium stem! I think I am ready to cut up an anthurium regale stem! Wish me luck!
Thank you very much for this video. It is such a great content. I'm a plantito and I really appreciate plants. More videos to come.

I love your perlite method! I just got a A Warocqueanum and don’t want to kill her. I will give it a try. 🤞🏽Thank you.
Thank you! I've been looking for a simple way to try this. Excited to give it a shot.
Ella I'm terrified of doing this. You are so brave 😱 Thanks for the video though. If at any point in my life I grow some b... and decide to do this now I know how. I appreciate the content of this video so much.😁

Please update us on these plants I will chop my queen soon because of root rot, wish me luck.
@izzi e hi, did you chop it and how is it now? Thanks.
You should ALWAYS rinse perlite BEFORE using it, as the dust can gum up the roots.
Awesome video, never knew how to propagate anthuriums until now! Do you ever change the water when you propagate them this way?
Sweet Sprouts Sketchbook I usually leave the water as is 🤗
Maybe it's a dumb question but: I have leaves on my anthurium. How do you propagate them and keep the leaves? And what do you do with the bottom parts where all the roots are? Can it grow back once you've cut all the stem away?

Thanks girl! 🥰

Thank you for this. I just received a variety of anthurium chonks today and was unsure how to proceed.
This is so helpful! I inherited a beautiful anthurium with pink flowers (not flowers...I didn’t remember the name) from my late grandmother, and (clearly) I’m a beginner with this plant. Incredible, i wish i got to see this video before my anthurium plant died. The best idea i suppose.....
I have an anthurium that had arrived to nursery from Thailand in really bad shape. I got it for a steal but it lost its last leaf several months ago. Can you do a video on antherium chonk propagation. How to tell if it will root? Or has a growth point? Or how to look for growth points
How long did it take for your anthurium to produce a new leaf? I have a anthurium forgetii and later in the future I’m planning on propagating!
How long did it take for your stump to go from that to one with a leaf?
It depends on if there is no roots or a small aerial root already forming and on the plant itself. It can take two months or more. 😊
I AM SO HAPPY YOU POSTED THIS!
Do you have an update on how long they sook before tgey showed sighns of success. Propagated my Queen stump yesterday, and just want to estimate how long it might take 🌿
How often do you give them a water..? Or do you ever transport the pot to the soil? This video is so great! Thank you!!! (I’m about to fail……btw)
Very informative video! I like perlite a lot. I used it for rooting some hoya cuttings and they rooted within a week. Your propagation terrarium looks good.i love the brown marronish antherium new leaves, what is it called?
Oh I’m gonna try this. Thank you for sharing.
Very interesting. I had not heard of perlite propagation until just recently.
Loved your video! I want to try it. Where did you get the anthurium stem from? From a plant or you bought it?
Can do a follow up explaining that? Thank you!
Love this video, how often do you have to open the bag and breathe new fresh air in there? Or do you just leave it until they produce leaf and roots?
Do you have a video where you show where the leaf would pop out from?
Love this video! Thanks for showing the progress
Keay Nigel I’m happy to hear that 🙈
I'm a new fan so I apologize if you went over this and I missed it but is there a video for how to take stem cuttings from an anthurium?
If the stem cuttings go brown, is there any chance they’ll sprout anything or are they dead?
Great video! My anthurium stump is brown not green like yours. Do you think this method will work?
How long does it take for the roots to grow in perlite that you can move to soil?
My anthurium looks so dull..what do I do to shine as seen in the video..Only new leaves look fresh..rest are so pale..plz suggest
OMYGOD this is great, thank you for sharing!! Would this work with rootless Phalaenopsis Orchids?
After there’s a little sprout on the stem, what do you with them? Can you keep them in the bag or will the leaf rot off?
Nice video. Do you suggest maybe doing that too for a monstera no leaf Chonk?
Thanks
Hello! Would you recommend placing the bags on top of a heat mat or not?
Janice I don’t normally use heat mats since our homes are already pretty warms. If they are in a cold spot then you could :)
Thank you for doing this! I want to learn more about this method.
I’ll be doing another video on propagating with leaves. Hope that helps too!
Would you do this only with recently shipped plants or plants that are stumps? How would you do this with ones that have leaves or just leave them alone? I noticed that Anthuriums that are doing well tend to self head and subdivide.

Wow , great video . Thank you so much . Do you sell plants and if yes please give me a link , to buy .
Small leaf came out, and still it’s in the water (it has been over 2 months). Do i have to repot when little leaf came out? It’s because 99% humid still inside of the bag, not sure when i should repot or move.
I recently cut my anthurium magnificum just an hour ago. Wishing it will grow new leaves after weeks.
I have an el choco chonk I’m trying to root with this method! I have a question about lighting. Where it is right now, it does get a little filtered light for maybe an hour in our patio. Will it be okay in the bag? I live in Florida and I’m scared of steaming it to death.
Am in Uganda ,I love your videos
Have you done a chunk in sphagnum moss with success? I have one in moss and it started growing algae - should I worry?
How long did you do this method for until you saw your first leaf? Mine is just a node as well
Hi, love your videos. quick question, what can i do for an anthurium regale that's lost all its leaves? please help i really don't want it ti die.
I received a damaged stem - it has some roots, do you think this method will work?? In order to get the positioning right, some of the roots have to be in the part of the leca that is submerged in water, what do you think? Or should I transfer to sphagnum better?
Hello Ella, great video, thanks! Would pumice work as well as perilte? Also, is Superthrive necessary in this method?
It’s just better to add super thrive or if you don’t have it your could add a few drops of a rooting hormone or what it will just help the plant grow roots faster or start growing quicker
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing

Guess my question is.. did I get scammed?
Hey 🙋🏻♀️ quick question.. when you root in perlite, should the top of the perlite feel wet?
Thank you from Australia
Thank you for this helpful video! I got my first anthurium last week and it has a very long stem. When you cut it, what do you do with the top part that has leaves? Can I also put it in perlite?
Kim Neijman you can put it in perlite but don’t put it in a ziplock bag 👌🏼
hi do you need to make an hole in ziplock bags for air flow
Hi, what alternatives do you suggest aside from using perlite?
Have you ever rooted the chonks in pon?
So I am buying a stump for the first time do you know how long before I will see growth points leafs or roots and in which order
Awesome ,I find it too difficult to grow athurium
Very informative.👏🏽
Yess i finally find video😍😍😍
Nice tip..im trying to revive my prince of orange thru icu
do i need to pour or spray water onto perlite?
What would be a time frame for a queen to start rooting? I'm so worried mine died 🙃
How often (or do you) open the bag and let it air out?
What do you do after after the plant is generated from the stem ? Plant it ? How ?
Very useful tips
Türkçe
I want to do this with my magnificum but when I bought it it only had two actual roots and a giant thick stems with nodes all over it, would it be ok to cut it and do this without roots?

4:58 is the one on the right upside down? How long did it take for them to root?
Amazing,,,.I’m gonna try that now!!
Is it okay that the node is wet to the touch? I've had it in the bag for almost a week now. I'm just worried about rot.
Nice channel! How much time Need to born the new leaf ?since you cut stem😄
If I buy unrooted stump will it still form roots with this method
what anthurium variety did you propagate
Can I leave the leafs on and cut only the bottom part of the stem? 😇
Kim Marie yup! Just don’t use a bag 👌🏼
Perlite just doesn’t work for me for some reason! Moss prop gives me more success rate
Hi! I've cut up my anthurium and put it in perlite like you showed in your vid. But because I've recently had a few plants rot, I'm now worried these will too! Have you ever had one rot while using this method?
Marieke Broekhuis no I have never had any anthuriums rot using this method. I have found them to be pretty resilient 🤗
Wow súper cool
