What Is PROMPT Therapy?

Four PROMPT-trained Speech-Language Pathologists provide information and demonstrate PROMPT therapy. An explanation of the Motor Speech Hierarchy is included. This is the second, in a two part series on Motor Speech Disorders. The first video, entitled "Differentiating Apraxia from other Motor Speech Disorders" provides background information on motor speech disorders while the second one focuses exclusively on therapy.

Yes. Since proprioceptive and kinnaesthetic cues are provided, together with auditory information, it can potentially be used for someone with visual impairment. PROMPT has been used with people with acquired communication impairments. The PROMPT institute website should have more information on this.

Hello ! Thank you so much for this video... I'm a french SLP working with several kids with apraxia of speech. I'll learn Prompt as soon as possible... there are not enough training in France ou Europe. Could you please make a video with example of games that provide opportunity to repeat the same simple word ou sentence ? You seem to have so much cool ideas for this. Regards

That really depends on the child and their attention span/age. I’m some jurisdictions it is a funding/administration decision E.g., in schools
I see kids for 30 mins to 1 hour at a time, depending on their age and ability to focus/cooperate.
