  • By popular demand, Don Naples and SFAS hosted a second Linkwitz LX521-4 Speaker event. In attendance was Dr. Frank Brenner, who has taken up the administration of the Linkwitz Lab website from his hometown of Stuttgart, Germany. (Siegfried Linkwitz passed away in 2018.)
Frank left a career as a physician to become an airline pilot for Lufthansa, and currently makes not-so-regular flights to California. His interest in building speakers led him to the Linkwitz Lab website. He purchased the components for Siegfried’s previous design, the Orion, in kit form and was “blown away” with the sound. When the LX521 design was published, he immediately ordered the parts and built what turned out to be the second pair in existence. Frank took a poll on the Linkwitz Lab forum and found overwhelming interest in the speakers. In 2013, with Siegfried’s approval, Frank decided to market kits and fully-assembled units.
Since then, after consulting with Don Naples, Frank has developed/implemented several improvements to the LX521, including better drivers, improved amplifiers, and an analog active crossover.
This video is informal and was created by volunteers in an effort to share the event. We are aware that the production quality is not professional.

Wow just wow, in these crazy times if these older Audiophiles can still get together, while taken their precautions and still enjoying what they truly love, they are showing us all that life goes on. I applaud all of the gentlemen at that event as I also share your hobby.

wonderful set of speakers. i only wish the upper part is shorter... much shorter.
why does it have to be so tall ??!. if they position the min range and the tweeter lower?. . it will be half as tall.

It sounds like Frank is saying the LX mini isn't up to much using the minidsp. You won't get good sound until you use the asp from Nelson Pass

Recorded in a state that doesn't know masking is ineffective.
