I agree Modugno sang this in the way it was written to be sung. Pavarotti's voice is not a pop voice but an operatic one. This version is as 'pop' as an operatic singer can get. Please don't compare apples to oranges or say that one version is better than the other. Modugno is one version. Pavarotti is another. I like both very much. I like one on some days and the other version on other days.They were both geniuses the way they used their voices. They will both stand the test of time.
