I painted the tip of the accelerator cable guide tube bright pink just so I could find it easier on reassembly, just a thought.

Is it possible to remove the oil cooler, change the gasket and seals while the motor is in? Looking to do the job on my vw t3 1600 ct Aircooler 😊

I pulled all of this stuff out on my 1970 bus. I was actually going in for the fuel tank.
When I pulled the fan housing I was unaware of the bellows, and didn’t undo. Hope I didn’t break anything!

If I have a doghouse fan, do I only remove the doghouse tins or still need to pull the entire shroud?

The seals i ordered are cylindrical. Will they squash flat or have i got the wrong ones?

Some good info on the samba forum about the different types of seals and coolers. Pretty sure my barrel ones are correct for my cooler

What was that rod that came out of the fan shroud. I don't think I have one of those in my engine.

It’s a little tube the throttle cable goes through on its way back to the carb.
      Edit:
I’m wrong on that rod. Around 3:42. I’m not sure what that is!

The Thermostat Rod. It screws into the Thermostat and operates the Flaps. Mine didn't have a Thermostat, Rod or Flaps, or even the Tins. Somebody thought they knew more than the engineers and decided they weren't needed.
