for those of you confused about 2:13 the guy is just trying to transfer his body heat to the floor so it would be a thermal "print" of the shape of his body
One of my abstract painting was hanging on the wall at an art exhibition back when I was in school. This one person approached to my painting and said it has such a strong power that it makes her feel very emotional in a sad way. I couldn't tell her that I painted it while I was eating potato chips and was thinking of what to eat next.
im i the only one who cries about everything??? Mad = cries Happy = cries Jealous = cries Sleepy = cries Hungry = cries Thinking = cries lol im literally a baby trapped in a 13 yrs old's body
Once upon a time artists, filmmakers, poets, authors moved their audience emotionally with their artwork which made them cry, laugh, love...Today these 'artists' use vapour and chemicals to 'force' people cry and then 'explain' their work with long lectures. And Tate and other galleries applaud them. Bravo.
Yes. But this concept piece does exactly what you say. Its an excellent artistic observation on how, in the 21st century, everything can be and will be manufactured. Why think when you can have Siri? Why socialise when we have Facebook? Why face your problems when we can numb ourselves with pills? Why feel empathy and weep when an eye irritating vapour can do it for you? So take the whole situation of modern humanity, compare it to what we are becoming; the tears of compassion will flow for what we have lost.
They both missed the whole point and purpose behind the crying experiment. It was to feel empathy when you see other people cry not when you feel and see yourself crying.
O your tear ducts aren’t in your eyeballs. They’re on your eyelids’ top and bottom waterlines, close to the corner. If you look closely, you can see tiny holes there.
I have been in this room... It smells like Olbas but ten times stronger, and it took me a little while before I could take full breaths, because it burns your lungs.
I went on a field trip to the Art Institute in Chicago when I was in 3rd grade. I saw a painting that was literally just paint splatters in a circle, and I felt something. My group was yelling at me to join them because I was just a little girl standing in fron of this painting, staring at it. I starred at all the colors intertwining and envisioned a man splattering everything on in the most angelic way. I felt a pang in my heart when my teacher pulled my wrist away from the painting so I could catch up with my group. I dont remember the name of the painting or the artist, and I honestly wish I remembered what it was called.
@@howtubeable If the art installation is pointless, then your saying creative art is pointless? The project has a meaning, like say, the lady in the video said, if you saw a best friend crying, wouldn't you go and comfort them? The project is about feeling empathy for others.
I have been here shape of light exhibition we were on a school trip and we were drawing from the artwork and getting inspiration I also went on grey floor and crying room it’s so cool!! they add peppermint to the room☺️
The idea of this artist is very interesting. First, she's making the spectator a part of the work, making them almost the work itself with their crying and their footsteps. She creates a situation of forced participation. It stops you from being a simple by-standard in order to explain, representing that there's no other way that we could think about the issues on our own anymore. The most interesting piece is the crying room in my opinion. You enter this blank room, with nothing to cry about, but you do. It must be a weird sensation just to cry without a reason, without the desire from our own soul to do so. In a sense, it can help you clear your mind, your body, maybe even help you consider what you should be crying about right now. It gives you the opportunity for introspection. The situation differs if you were with others though. Crying is an intimate experience and sharing that with friends or strangers can create a weird kind of bond. If we see someone crying, we feel them compelled to do something because that's our instinct. The artist is using this to express her point, how we should empathise more, care more about others, open ourselves more. Here crying is also used as a mechanism to criticize our lack of true emotions anymore. We create facades online, one day we care about one thing and the next week we have forgotten that it even existed, we tend to care only about our own interests. In this installation, you are reminded that you need to feel deeper, care about others, take your mask off and experience one of the rawest emotion's humans can feel.
2:12-2:20 was anybody else super distracted with that random guy laying down on the floor in the backround? and at 3:30 the people in the backround? like if you noticed
You know what?, This would help me out. Because if i'm crying and feeling lonely i'll just go there and pretend that the room makes me cry so i wouldn't get annoyed if someone asks me why are you crying. Good job myself.
When we(Muslims) go to kabba(house of Allah), it makes our emotional level so high, it makes us cry, love and forgive everyone for everything. This is real beautiful feeling, that's beautiful crying
The reason the man was lying on the floor at (2:14) was that the room's floor reacts to body heat, and he was trying to make a full body thermo-print (:

One thing I've learned for sure is that you can't cry if you don't have eyes
O your tear ducts aren’t in your eyeballs. They’re on your eyelids’ top and bottom waterlines, close to the corner. If you look closely, you can see tiny holes there.
Technically I never said eyeballs, but now that I think about it when I say eyes, does that also include the eye sockets or holes?
I wonder if the camera man was crying🤔
Well what do you think
Well it forces your eyes to water. Not cry or feel sympathy.
*Patrick Star* *empathy..
Positive biofeedback loop. Even if you didn’t start crying because you felt emotion, you can start to feel more emotional because of the tears.
I have been in this room... It smells like Olbas but ten times stronger, and it took me a little while before I could take full breaths, because it burns your lungs.

Not really. I just thought I would put this as a warning to anyone who visits this installation.

Yes.
bert1029 When you were crying, did you feel any kind of emotion or any sadness as described in the video?
