They got what many lovers wish for, after they failed to live their life together... seeing into each others eyes once more, not talking, just looking, expressing all the love, all the sorrow, both knowing, that they can't go back to how it was..
For me, the most powerful thing is that *this* is what broke her. This is a woman who sat still and unperturbed while she was stabbed, burned, deprived, literally tortured, in the name of her art, and the thing that breaks her artistic trance isn’t pain or fear or depravation, it’s love and loss. Simply beautiful.
Because they are a couple 20 years ago, they live in a van, and broke up, last time they are together it was on Great Wall of China and give last hug, since than...
this honestly broke me. this is an exact imitation of life itself, in the form of love, as we live on and come across with many many people in the world, somehow someone comes along and touches us truly, if we’re lucky enough we can find someone like this and love them unconditionally and lose them eventually, them leaving the table and us maturing enough with time to understand and accept to say goodbye to them gracefully. then other people come into our lives that we again, love but it’s never that same love that we have experienced. maybe it hurts today to say goodbye to them but to fall in love, such a feeling that not many can get the chance to experience it, so we can only look at the next table that’s sitting next to us and hope that they either did or will find that special one too. them not saying a word to each other but they get each other, as if they are speaking in other dimensions, universes that we are not able to see, what a bond! such an amazing moment for us to witness
Today I visited the Stedelijk Museum, to see the exposition on the life and works of Marina Abramović. I was amazed, scared, shocked and surprised. The footage of Ulay and Marina, walking from opposite sides of The Great Wall to each other, that made me tear up. It moved me. I couldn't handle it. This made me tear up as well. I remember seeing this video back in... 2010? It was a viral video. I did not know who they were, back then, but I was moved. And now I'm moved again. And amazed. Shocked. And surprised. And moved.
@@dorgly8951but in this specific case they actually did reconcile in 2017 and in the case of many divorces, some people have become friends after.... Great example is Ali Wong and her Ex Husband
I got a question stuck on my mind… what is this music piece called? It fits so perfectly to the video that it made me think if it was composed just for this footage 😅 the way it starts with the nod of Ulay at 2:31.. goosebumps..
I also have to cry every time i see this. I too young to have been to that artwork, but it feels very powerful. Also hard for the person who sat down after Ulay

The eighteenth-century Enlightenment thinker Voltaire said: I disagree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to speak. On the other hand, in a truly fair and just age, such rights must be granted by the government. by the government. Performance art can be interpreted as a silent position, a critique, or an exploration of the language of art, a "performance," but this "performance" is real. Some acts may be against the new cultural power, some may just be the triggering of purposeless possibilities, and some may even touch the red line of morality and ethics, but sometimes art is just art, without any other aspects, and sometimes I even feel that it is related to the primitive impulse of human beings, and the artist breaks the shackles of the rules set by people.
She smiled and she cried in the span of one minute, she felt so many emotions all at once. Isn’t it crazy how love does that to us.

No words.... But still makes me cry...
Made me cry as well. Very powerful.
I have seen heaven & hell in that one minute... A minute that conveys more emotion than an entire movie😢
You weren’t just a visitor… you were my life
I don't know WHY exactly, but this is so beautiful. Infinitely touching.
Because they are a couple 20 years ago, they live in a van, and broke up, last time they are together it was on Great Wall of China and give last hug, since than...
Because they had a love that’s so raw and primal they hurt eachother and that never really goes away
Makes me cry too and smile at the same time. Isnt it wonderful how we people connect to each other?

because being apart too is part of love
because those apart are still beloved
When art and reality meet.... you have Marina, a toweringly powerful devotee to her craft. They reconciled in 2017
I doubt it as he took her to court and sued her in 2015.

The fact that she doesn’t break character when getting stabbed or tortured. Says a lot about how intensely she loved him
