It's really nice to see Mike cooking without a time limit. He's really skilled and it definitely comes across best when he's not under pressure.
I love videos where Ben gets to flex his chefs brain.
This feels like the successor to make it gourmet. Ben takes scraps and makes them gourmet.
With a cocktail that even a mannequin can make.
PLEASE! Do this as a Pass It On format!
The normals all do a pass it on to come up with a dish on their own. Then Kush and Ben come in (maybe some special guest chef? 👀) come in after to do a pass it on of their own with what's left over from the normals!
You could call it "Trash It On"
And it would be absolute chaos and I'm so here for it!
That would be brilliant.
Usually at the end of a Pass It On all that's created/left over is carnage! 😆
I like this idea, especially because they have hinted multiple times (and it's rather obvious after having 20+ extra ingredients warm on table) that the left over ingredients are used to make food for the crew. So... pretty much "b roll" of Kush cooking for the crew?
That is BRILLIANT
I'd be down for that for sure!
I feel like Ben made two appetisers and a drink while Mike made the main dish. Good work!
I'd have been happy with the drink the omelette.
if you add rice to the omelette, that's a damn good meal for me lol
@@karu6111 ohh piping hot rice, would bang with that kinda omelette
Hold on, there's an idea there! Imagine a battle where each side has a normal and a chef, the normals going first and making the main dish for their team. Then, the chefs go second, using the scraps from the opposite team's normal to make appetizers or other things that pair with their normal's main dish.
How fun would that be.. Fingers crossed they give it a go.
I love these two together. I feel that Ben really appreciates how good Mike has become from being the least accomplished of the normals and Mike is always blown away by Ebbers cheffy abilities. So great to watch them both 🥰
I was off the ‘net for a while and am trying to get caught up on Sorted. After reading your comment I went looking for the Ben/Barry leftovers challenge and can’t find it. 😩 Any way you could point me towards it? The title of that vid perhaps? I know it’s a big ask. Just hoping 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Cheers!

The two of them have a really good energy when they're together. Even when they're "being mean" to each other, they still get really excited and happy to see each other do well.
Maybe it’s me but I love how Mike went for Cinderella’s Step Sisters when dealing with scraps. Interesting.
No no, totally agree, because it left Ebbers with (what we probably perceive as) very little to work with - and yet, his dish seemed very thought through
Mike really is using every opportunity he gets to bring up Bens mermaid days and show the footage. And I’m totally here for it. 😂
But also managing to forget Mike’s Merlion outfit
Never seen Mike so comfortable with the procedure - a pleasure to watch him. Ben? Well, genius.
I love it when Ben has to think on his feet, and the result is always undeniably excellent.
i can't express how happy i am that it's Mike's renaissance where he's appreciating his own strengths and shining like a star.
you both did a phenomenal job. well done chefs
I'm a big fan of the "there are no scraps and leftovers" philosophy, but what Ben is doing here is really impressive.
I try to think along with this kind of challenge, but my homecooking mind always tricks me to come up with just one dish for all the scraps. Ben's way of splitting them up makes them at the same time more awesome and simpler. Great way to look at food.
I save a lot of scraps in my freezer (shrimp shells, ones for stocks, all manner of veggie and herb scraps) and sometimes it's hard to actually use them up. I'll have a few bags of broccoli/cauliflour scraps, and if I cant think of a way to use the whole lot of it, I often don't use them at all. I've been getting better though. They're great fried off with onions and such for a stew, even something like a chili. I've actually once made an entirely vegetarian chili that way to prove to my dad that veggie dishes are just as tasty. He LOVED the veg chili, and couldn't guess the secret. It was handfuls of all the frozen veggie leftovers, beans, tomatoes, and seasoned tofu crumbs. After a soak in the chili with all the spices and everything, you can't tell it's vegetarian.
@MissingmyBabbu the brocoli scraps make a delightful cold summer soup if you just blend them up, season and serve.
I’m so happy to see a new instalment of the Scraps challenge because I laughed so much when Barry and Ben were competing. Now we have Ebbersnado vs Huttlestorm and I’m ready with hypothetical popcorn, the best flavour of popcorn 🍿
Happy Wednesday!
Enjoy! Happy Wednesday 😁
@@SortedFoodYou guys are incredible 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I see your Ebbersnado but hear me out what about an Ebbersquake?
@@Commit2Chaos Ebbersquake is nice
@@Commit2ChaosSo now we've got a Huttlestorm, Kushtastrope and Ebbersquake... Sounds good
Mike looked so gleeful when sharing what he thought were the worst scraps possible, but Ben really turned them into something beautiful looking and tasting. It's really a testament to Mike's cooking that he was able to make a really fancy dish with such little wastage. He did a great job!
I did laugh at 13:19 cuz Mike knows us so well, it's not that we don't care about it, it's just exciting to see what the scraps turned into.
Also, it's normally Mike who's really hard on himself, but so is Ben. Mike was praising that omelette to high heaven and Ben just went it's fine, the color's too dark for an omelette.🥺 He served up really delicious dishes out of some very difficult scraps. Ben you did so good!
@@AlokSomanithanks.. Edited that
Honestly, the omelette (if we forget that it was cold by the time they ate it) looked absolutely fantastic. Sure, it had color, but good luck making your paprika-colored butter turn out a bright yellow omelette. The color was flavor!
I think this shows how far Mike has come as a cook. He consistently underrates himself but he’s bloody brilliant… Barry must be kicking himself though because Mikes dish actually looked good
yeah cause he definitely came up with steaming orange zest in the microwave on his own...this is definitely Mike /s
@@kingkarlito Barry was quite open about not having thought his up. This was them making a recipe, not coming up with stuff on their own.
Yes!!! I love the scrap series it’s so nice to see how else to use the stuff that goes in the trash ❤
Glad you enjoy watching them as much as we enjoy filming them 😁
@@SortedFood Now I can't wait for Jaime's turn. Because it's a guarantee to be MEAT!MEAT!MEAT!
@@SortedFoodawesome 😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@annaqtjoeyJamie is very boring and so unoriginal!! I much prefer Mike, at least he's willing to try a multitude of different things as opposed to just meat, meat, and more meat like Jaime.
Jaime = BORING
Mike = Creative
I must say, Mike has come a loooong way! Nice job with the high-end leftovers, Ben, and the humble ones too.
i love this format!! it doesn't feel as competitive as 'beat the chef,' like it's more homey and collaborative-feeling (despite the ribbing and banter). i just love watching friends hang out and cook next to each other haha.
and i feel like mike particularly shines BECAUSE of the lack of competitive element, like he's able to actually relax and not get anxious and enjoy himself, which i love seeing!! ♥
I dated a chef once and it was pure joy watching him throw things together somewhat randomly and come out incredible. This is definitely joyful to watch the talent and creativity. Thank you
i live in a world where Mike's smile exists and that is a great world. Thank you again for a wonderful video and Ebbers really is a Genius also with a great smile.
Please do more of these. It reminds me of the first time I saw sortedfood, which was on Good Mythical Morning when they had to make a meal with scraps. Love this type of video.
That video was a trip 😂 we love those guys!
These are my 2nd favorite thing on the channel (10min burger challenge cant be topped im afraid) and I hope to see more of it. How Ben does what he does is astonishing to me. Its a joy to watch, keep up the amazing work guys.
Thank you for your lovely comment. We're so glad you're enjoying the content 😀
Please make more of this!! Seeing Ben transform scraps into restaurant quality food (he makes several dishes too!) is just pure MAGIC.
i would love to see Jamie as a normal in this challenge, because there won't be far less scraps, because of all the snacking bits and bops 😂
Yeah. Barry basically drowned Ebbers in scraps (and it feels almost wrong to describe a lot of it as such) while Mike went for the minimalist approach. I'm really curious to see Jamie in this format - will Ebbers have to work with a pile of meat trimmings and barely anything else?
I've often thought this, but holy crap Ebbers is amazing.
Mike already used his ingredients to the limit of what is normally reasonable.
And Ebbers turned that actual garbage into a stunningly presented tasty dish before Mike had finished his own and while being informative throughout!
Bravo sir, bravo.
Broccoli stalks are just so delicious when they are peeled. Great for stir-fry or scrambled eggs.
So good that Ben had an opportunity to show more chef skills. ❤
This was awesome. Not just the cooking but the fact you had two appetizers, a main, and a cocktail at the end. Together you made an amazing meal.
I love how Mike just goes "Great. Well. No one really cares about that. Let's find out how this tastes." and puts his plate to the side. That was incredibly funny.
Love this format! Shows a bit of Mike's sass at the beginning, and a bit of Ben's genius at the end - perfect!
Two standout jobs; Mike going above and beyond the normal bar, and Ben absolutely nailing some really creative - and yet logical when he explains - dishes.
Love Mike's reaction to the Benuindo about butter 😂😂😂 Great work guys and to all of the Sorted Team! Food looked amazing!
Ben blew it out of the park with those scraps. Mike had a game plan and almost left no scraps for Ben. This series is amazing and I hope you guys keep doing this maybe give Kush the next challenge.
I loved how much pleasure Mike got from vindictively plotting Ben’s sad scraps haha 😂
I love scrap challenges! Please do more of those, they are so creative. Also battling food waste is something we all should strife for.
Personally I love cooking with scraps and leftovers. And if nothing else helps ... make a good stock from scraps and freeze it.
YAY!! Food Scraps challenge is back! :D I loved the first iteration of this challenge and boy was this one just as interesting and inspiring! I would love an entire series of these challenges! Can't wait to see what you guys will do next!
Ben as usual blew me away with how much he can do with some Scraps and Leftovers like the Milk or the Vodka from the previous episode :D Amazing Job.
And Mike once again shows what he is capable off! That Dish was bang on, no Huttlestorm in sight and he managed to perfectly cook Scollops something tons of Chefs working at a Restaurant struggle with from my own experience :P
These formats are really cool, sure, I'll never cook with scallop roe, but to get the ideas flowing and having people realise more parts of our food is edible and not ~trash~ is a great thing to do.
I think you're both brilliant! And now I need to try and steal some ideas from both "competitors." Please definitely do more of these.
we keep our scraps and leftovers, and do "creative/clown taquito" night on weekends. Good for socializing, idea testing, and excellent movie noms.
Both Mike and Ben did a spectacular job. And more of this, please.
I think this was one of Mike's finest moments - his dish was just outstanding. Well-planned, well-executed.
It's always a joy to see Ben display how much quality food you can extract from scraps. It appeals to my love for frugal cooking, with as little waste as possible (something Ben and I agree on 100%). I'm going to have to try making the tempura scallop roe, that looks absolutely fantastic.
once again, super impressed with what ben did with the leftovers, and really enjoying this format. both did a great job, but using the richer bits to really enhance the flavor was really cool to see.
We don't see this combo very often. But I love watching just Ben and Mike work together. They compliment each others skills perfectly.
We always use up the leftover egg from the panée (or panír in my language). We mix in some of the flour until we get a still kind of runny, but somewhat firmed up "dough". Add some salt and scoop tablespoon sized dollops into the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown. My mother calls them "Clouds" as they float on the oil when frying like donuts and they take all kinds of shapes because of the runny nature of the dough. They are perfect little after work snack for the chef or anyone who wonders into the kitchen but does not allowed to snack on the meat we were originally frying :D
Both of you did amazing! Mike's dish was like something you'd find at a restaurant. I mean, I've seen Ben make something that looks so much like that! And I couldn't believe that Ben made two little dishes and a drink from the scraps. I am going to try and make that broccoli puree next time I have broccoli. Great job!
Ooooh yes..... makke it and let us know what you think 😋
Both creations were great. It's genius what Ben did with the scraps. The butter really stands out. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
If you guys keep making videos like this it may quickly become a favorite series. Preaching about lowering food waste is a wonderful thing, but seeing how to actually implement it is even better. Especially with really commonly used things such as the broccoli stalks. I personally always get the long stalky broccoli when I buy it just because I always use the stalks to make soup.
Wonderful that this is being continued! Took Ben's advice to heart from last time and started freezing small portions of fish cakes and other bits to have for future use.
NICE WORK 👏
@@SortedFood😊😊😊❤❤❤
10:42 love the close up on Ben's blender that says "Do not blend hot or warm ingredients"
SCOUDRELS, THE LOT OF YOU
i love this format. it gets to show off how to do a "regular" dish well as well as showing off a chef's improv skills. do a lot more!
OH Mike, don't play coy with us....we all remember your "MerLion" costume when you used those shells as bras (snicker) 😁
this is like Sanji vs the Marine chefs
and the same results knowledge beats just ingredients amazing job guys
I really like this new series of scraps videos. I have been using your videos to encourage multiple family members to participate in a month's long pantry challenge. It has been a lot of fun using things hiding in the depths of our pantries and turning them into delicious dishes. Thank you!
I really enjoyed watching Mike cook an amazing dish, looked delicious. Ben cooking up Mike’s scraps was outstanding, who would have thought you could make a meal from tiny bits of stuff. Loved it. ❤. 🥰🇦🇺
I love this - so much can be done with some scraps, especially if you know how - I often make soups from broccoli and cauliflower stalks (or even brussel sprout stalks, if you can buy them fresh on the stalk). I would not have thought about scallop butter, but I've done similar with shrimp heads and oil for a finishing drizzle. I'd love to see this done in a dessert format too - so many cakes call for just the whites of eggs, for example - watching Ben using the leftover yolks to do curds or other things would be fun.
In Australia, as you would be aware, we serve scallops with their roe on. If you go to the local chippy you get them deep fried and actually it's my favourite thing to order.
Same here in New Zealand mate
once again I`m blownaway by just what an excellent chef Ben is! It`s wonderful to see Mike improving - but then seeing what Ben can do with those bits and pieces of food - wow!
Don't get me wrong but I love watching Ben take the scraps and turn it into a wonderful dish still. I learn more watching Ben over Mike here. Both did a wonderful job. Thanks
I have an idea, The Ultimate Full English Battle, each normal take their favorite version of this all time English classic and make it as tasty as possible without any help from the food team! And then you tell Ebber's that he then has to guess who made which dish and then he declares which one did the best! Please do it!!!
Why would a Scot or Welsh person be proud of an English Breakfast?
@pozer232 This sounds good especially of they have to replace an ingredient at random.
I mean, a full English is extremely easy to make. I can't imagine that would be interesting unless they do something mythical kitchen-ish
@@greenjedi8 Scotland, Wales & Ireland all have their own versions of a breakfast fry up, so we can all be proud of them. The term "full English" just gets used as an umbrella term. Heck even in England there are variations depending on where you live. A London one can be pretty different to say a Yorkshire one.
@Getpojke so be proud to be English. However, it's not a patch on the full Scottish or Irish!
I absolutely loved this. I loved seeing Ben with no particular theme or style other than "use the scraps". he got to be so creative and make several one of a kind dishes and Mike was so impressed with all of it. this was greatttt.
I love this challenge! It really shows that having minimal options forces you to think out side the box and that's where greatness lives. Well done!
my favourite headcanon is that Ben is secretly insanely competitive in these. The chef flex is wonderful, i love it. More of this would be lovely!
This is absolutely incredible!!! Quickly turning into my favorite series here
I’d love to see you guys do a “old school dinner meals” battle with dishes such as doing chocolate concrete with pink custard, cornflake tart, turkey twizzlers with potato smiley faces etc - it would be absolutely amazing if you could. Love you guys ☺️
I know what the potato smiley faces are, but what are the rest of those?
@@TsukiKatanachocolate concrete is like shortbread but made with cocoa powder, cornflake tart is pastry with a layer of jam and then cornflakes mixed with golden syrup, brown sugar and butter on top, then turkey twizzlers are like turkey breasts that’s breaded and cut into like a spiral shape. Hope that helps ☺️
I really enjoyed this! Well done to both Mike and Ben! Hope to see more of this in future.
I legit think this is my new favorite format. It's so fun to watch Ben (or maybe Kush) try to figure out what to do with things lol.
loving this series! Ben is like a magician! & Mike's becoming an exceptional normal at cooking!
I love these scraps episodes. They encourage creativity and curiosity.
Yay this one is back! Really love to find out how I can better use the scraps I’ve got from cooking. ❤
Love this episode. Do some more of these. So interesting and truly educational.
this is actually an amazing concept, i'd love to see more of this. both of them did such a good job, particularly ben's imagination for how to utilise leftover bits of food is very inspiring :)
I bet 5 years ago Mike would never have dreamed of doing such a nice dish and here he is. Bens's dishes were amazing too but kind of expected that from him :) . Wonderful job guys. Love the show, it's pretty much all I watch for entertainment now.
It was so interesting to hear "cheese monger" - I have never seen that in my area (Wyoming, USA). I'm jealous of the availability of product in your area. Love you guys!
I think these have been some of your best videos of late - really creative, really smart, and some fantastic tips for home cooks!
Shows how much flavor there can be in the tiniest of scraps, Always take your videos and advice to hearth, my cooking game has really improved thanks to you guys!
BOTH of you did such a fantastic job! I love seeing Mike in his confident mode and Ben using his Chef's talents to make something marvelous out of ... scraps! Wonderful video, gentlemen!
As mike was passing on his scraps I was thinking “damn. He is really making it hard for Ben!” But then both of them came through with amazing dishes. That Chef Brain at work was especially amazing. Definitely going to try and make Mikes dish when I get the chance. There were no losers on this episode in my opinion.
Love this format, it's cool to see Ebbers think on the spot. Would be keen to see a similar video but limited to vegan ingredients to see what he can come up with
I love this, because I'm always curious what I could do with the scraps. Please more!
I'll do more than give it a like. I'll come out and say it! I like this cooking with scraps concept!
Gosh I think you both knocked it out of the park! I love watching Ben’s chef brain working with things like this, and Mike looking a bit more relaxed and producing incredible food in its own right.
I have been asking for this, and it's been delivered. Hopefully there'll be more episodes and using other chefs as well.
I’m just rewatching this and it’s just illustrated something to me very clearly. The non chefs don’t understand their food very well. They’re handing off “scraps” to Ben and giving away the most flavourful parts of the food. Broccoli stems for example, might be a tad stringy but that’s nothing a peel won’t fix, and they’re the best part of the broccoli. Sweet and tender and juicy, just like the cauliflower stems in the video with Barry. Same goes for the jamon fat. It may be a cliche to say “fat is flavour” but it’s also a fact!! You just gave away most of the flavour in jamon right there Mike. Scallop corals are wonderful and I fail to understand why it’s considered “posh” to remove them. They’re intensely flavoured, and again, you’re giving that away. Cooking is all about flavours and textures both of which the normals appear happy to toss aside in favour of what they “think of” as “posh”
This is a great series and would love to see more of them! Challenge Kush or Slater as well
LOVE. THIS. FORMAT. Both of these have been fantastic! Please do more!
Ben knocked it out of the park this episode. He got so much out of so little.
Truly amazing and so much fun to watch. Thanks guys. You really make my day. Great challenge by the way.
LOVE this! I always have bits of this and that leftover when cooking that I know could be made into something, but often struggle with what that something could be. Please make more of these!
I adore this series, gives me so many ideas for the odds and ends of my daily cooking that so often go to waste. Thank you, boys!
I'm the one in the house that always finds ways to use up leftover bits and pieces, so it's awesome to get some fresh inspiration and have a giggle in the process too! Thanks! ❤
I can't believe how much we waste. I've done it I'm sure. Obviously the crew has done it. Ben is a genius. And I always tell people cooking is like science. You engineer you experiment and have fun with the ingredients. And Ben takes scrap that majority of us kind of waste. And still make great dishes that you never thought you could use these kind of scraps in . Genius and it gives good meaning of waste not want not.
Amazing! And I love the new title for this segment! Thank you, SORTED!
The title reminds me of the show "Rust and Riches" 😅
Thanks
Everything just looks so delicious! Way to go Mike and well done Ben. Both of your dishes just look yummy.
Ben cooking is an absolute pleasure to watch. I always forget to bring something to eat and am absolutely famished at the end of the video
I love just how blown away Mike is at the end, he's so genuinely impressed with what Ben created, as are we! Well done guys - such a joy to watch as always 🤩
Both dishes looked, and probably tasted amazing. Great job to the both of you. Keep this theme going, it gives me loads of inspiration.
Absolutely love these. Gives me ideas on what to do with my scraps. Waste not, want not especially with today's food prices
Ebbers, Mike! You both did fantastic Jobs! I'll gladly order all of your dishes from restaurants anyday!
LOVE to see this again!!! only thing this missed was one or both of the other normals on the sidelines giving their usual sass as running commentary, actually feels a little empty without that
Amazing. Loving this series so far! Using up as much as possible is something I take to heart. So this is welcome knowledge!!
