- How to reset or restart the Garmin Forerunner 235 / 230. In this tutorial I show you how to not only factory reset the Garmin Forerunner 235 / 230 but also how to turn it off and on. This can be useful is the watch freezes or is not responding.

How to Restart or Reset the Garmin Forerunner 230 / 235?
How to restart the Garmin Forerunner 230 /235:
1. Hold the power button for 5 second
2. When the menu appears simply select yes.
3. The Garmin Forerunner is now off
4. To turn on the Garmin Forerunner 230 /235, simply hold the power button for one minute.
How to clear user data on the Garmin Forerunner 230 / 235:
1. Turn the Garmin Forerunner off
2. With the Garmin Forerunner off hold down the power button for ten seconds until a menu appears asking if you would like to clear the user data.
3. The Garmin Forerunner 235 / 230 will now reset clearing the user data
How to Factory Reset the Garmin Forerunner 230 / 235:
1. Go to the settings on the Garmin Forerunner
2. From the settings select Restore Defaults
3. The Garmin Forerunner 235 / 230 will now begin a full restore to factory settings

Amazon sent me to your tutorial. My Garmin 235 froze, refused to shut off, and was frozen on the charging screen. It even refused to connect to my phone with bluetooth. Held the on/off button for 30 seconds, it finally shut off. Turned back on and it came ALIVE again. Thanks for the assist!!

Hi....just bought a Forerunner 235. Turned it on for a bit. Plugged it in to computer to charge. I also plugged in my wife's watch to charge as well.
I noticed her's had a different screen, showing percent charge. My isn't doing anything now. Won't turn on, nothing. It just faintly says Garmin.
mine did the same thing, I took it straight out of the box and it was dead flat. I plugged it into my pc and it faintly said Garmin, I held the power button in whilst my watch was plugged into the usb port and it reset, then the battery percentage came on but the screen brightness was still very faint.
My watch is working fine now.
Mines charging, literally just bought it today. Thought it was faulty out of the box.

my germin ran out of battery, and when I put it to charge it turned on and got the message on the screen "garmin" and doesn't turn off anymore.
I push power and the option of yes or no does not even pop up. I can’t turn off my watch. It seems others are also having this same issue with the garmin 235.

Hi, I have a problem about the available slot for downloading new face watches. I have uninstall the no-use face watches, but the apps in my smartphone says I have no available slot.(meaning that I cannot download new ones) Could you please help me? Thank you in advance.
How do i set my watch that when i press stop, it shows me my time, but it starts counting my pause right when i stop the time?
My 235 was dead out of the box. When plugged in to charge, computer made the connected sound and Garmin screen came on, but the watch would not power on. I held the power button for 10 seconds and the screen went black, then came back on and the charging screen appeared, showing percentage. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Just got my Garmin but it will not turn on. When I plug it into my laptop it is charging but my laptop says the device is not recognized. Left it charging the whole night but no luck turning it on. Garmin symbol shows on face. Any help would be appreciated
That's not true. The watch is not reseted to factory.
You still have the software updates and the time settings and many other settings.

just purchased this watch and already asked for a refund. screen res was awful, it was laggy and ascetically it wasnt nice at all. switched to the galaxy watch fingers crossed its better.
