Garmin Forerunner 735XT || Soft and Hard Reset when not powering on / frozen

Today I'm explaining how to perform general troubleshooting steps, soft and hard reset, on Garmin Forerunner watch. The above steps are perfect for the issues like:
- watch is not powering on
- watch is freezing
- screen glitches or garbled / blank lcd

I was using a custom watch face from IQ store and customized some of its features. The watch went into a crash loop where it would turn off, turn on, say Move!, and crash and turn off again, repeating forever.
The step from this video where you hold the Select and Back buttons fixed this for me. I didn't have to clear user data, it just broke the crash loop and let me change watch faces.

My screen just went dead on a walk today. It's cold outside, but the watch was covered by my coat sleeve, so I don't know what happened. Screen was blank but I could hear the sounds when I pressed buttons, and I was able to continue to track my walk and save it approriately. I held the power button down longer than usual (as you suggested) and it worked! Thank you!

Thanks, after 3 years the disply was w/o any content (black), but watch is working (light, sensor, BT connection to mobile). With your video I did a softreset - and my 735xt is back again. You made my day... ;-)

Hi, my garmin 735XT is close to a year old. For the last week, I have not been able to get any data collection or updates. I did the soft reboot and the time (which is wrong) the battery charge percentage with a USG charging port symbol. My watch is now frozen with this screen. Any suggestions? I have plugged it into my laptop and wall jack. Now that is all i have on my screen. Can you help me?

Nice video guys, I have a problem with my Garmin forerunner 645 music. the charger is not connected in any power supply. I have checked the charger cable is oke. but still not conected

From Garmin Forerunner 735XT Owner's Manual:
NOTE: This Deletes all user-entered information and activity history.
You can reset all settings back to the factory defaults values.
Select Menu > Settings > System > Restore Defaults > Yes.

My Garmin 735xt just went dead completely and won't turn back on. Any chance you have advice how to fix? It is plugged in to the mains and have tried holding the power button but nothing

I have tried the hard reset and it has not gone past the screen with "Garmin" .....does not seem to be getting any power either

saludos No sabras que tengo que hacer? no me deja sincronizar y me sale sale un mensaje de Unidad ID invalida ... me iba bien hasta que intente actualizarlo y ya no me sincroniza y cuando lo reseteo solo me sale el idioma de ingles y cuando intento sincronizarlo el mensaje que te he dicho y el pc no me lo reconoce ... gracias

is there another way to do it, mine is charged, but screen is no longer visible, just heard the beeps and nothin else
Hey there, was the screen damaged? If you can hear beeps the screen might not be working properly.
My watch decided to start vibrating. TURN IT OFF... and it is still vibrating. VERY weird and now the 100% full charge now is quickly depleted because of the vibration. Reset still vibrates. Please jelp

Please can you explain something to me about my son's 735xt? He runs 12 mile at 6:30 ish pace and completes his run in 1:18:28 yet when I time him from start to finish he's been running for just over 2 hours.
Great question. There is activity setting called " auto pause " which pauses the watch when GPS thinks he stopped (could be a short break, could be waiting for lights to change, could be that GPS lost location). Most probably this is switched on for him hence he gets shorter time on his watch.

He never stops running or comes across any traffic lights, the area is known for poor WiFi and phone signal but shouldn't affect his GPS? Should it?
@@howtotechstuff just checked his watch and auto pause is already off.
Strange behaviour indeed. I would consider uploading the run to Strava or other platform and:
1. Checking each mile for any big time jumps
2. Checking GPS track to see if there's any loss occuring during the run.
3. Also, would be interesting to see if this is intermittent or not.
4. Is the watch on latest version? Might be worth updating.
In fairness, even if GPS lost signal and auto pause is off the time should be tracked correctly so hard to understand why watch would show 1:18:28 where your watch would show over 2 hours.
Also, make sure GPS+GLONASS is enabled for his runs as this will make sure thebest GPS accuracy.
Hey, how do I change the date? Mine is two days off
I'd recommend going to Menu > System > Clock > Set automatically to on . Once you have GPS connected it should fix your date/time issue.
