Great video man! I see some people giving you hate in the comments about cutting off the skin and fat; and you replying positively and learning from them. Much respect for you being a great human. As a fellow amateur home cook, I definitely don’t always do dishes right either, so good on you for learning as you go. Keep it up!
Thanks alot Kevin for your comment, much appreciate I try my best to do videos to help people.I'm not always the best at what I do but as I look back at some of my videos I can say, yes I have made mistakes here and there but this part of being human. Stay safe Kevin
You lost me at "I'm trying to eliminate most of the fat". Why would you do that? The fat is what separates the pork shoulder from a pork loin. No the fat isn't nasty. The whole point of slow cooking is to render the fat. That fat is what becomes the moisture in the meat. If you want to make a low fat dish then get a different cut of meat. What you should have done was used the skin as a tent over the meat in the crockpot, Then after cooking you can either get rid of it or fry it and make cracklins.
Great ....I am going to fix mine this way........I love crockpot for a lot of our meals....thanks so much.........Also a question............Do I not have to add water? or broth? I always think I need to.......but lately I have noticed that a lot of people don't add liquid...............ok thanks again
Agreed. Found this vid today. I know this is old, but keep the bone and meat trimmings, then boil down for a stock with more onion and garlic, salt and pepper. That's where you get your money's worth. Nice looking pork!
Thanks for the video. looks amazing.... I've got some pork shoulder crock soup going right now. If I could just recommend one thing, it would be that next time you make some, spare room in the crock for that bone. Even if that means extra raw shoulder for another day. You won't regret it. CrockPot man....
Dez Udezue A crock pot really doesn't use that much energy..so if I was to use the stovetop and cook this for 6-8 hours I my electric bill would be a lot higher.plus after you set the timer and it is finish cooking it will go straight to keeping the food warm
I have all those ingredients so i just threw it in in the crock pot with all those seasonings. woot woot. i'm use to those seasonings so i know its going to taste the BOMB :D
@@tallman145 Hi Tallone. Thanks for responding to my comment. I was wondering if you can edit your comment so it doesn't include my first and last name? When I made this comment, Google+ forced us to use our full name but we have privacy again (there are a lot of crazies on the internet) and I go by Apple. Thank you.
Great video! I got a pork shoulder I am making tomorrow! Did you start with any liquid in the bottom of the crock pot, or does the fat make all the liquid?
ILOVECHICKEN698 your question is NOT dumb. No need to add water or broth because the meat releases its own juices as you can see once I took off the lid it was very juicy
I have cooked pork before in a slow cooker, and it is delicious. Hard to mess it up. I haven't tried this exact recipe, though, and I will. Looks good!
Looks good! Will definitely try this. But please...next time, use the bone too! It adds so much flavour!! Also, don't ever give pork to a dog if you do get one. LOL!
@@tallman145 It's not good for them, but especially the bones like this. It's raw pork, which is what that bone has all over it and could cause worms. :) I'm totally with you, though, in cutting off all that fat!!
You totally do not HAVE to keep the fat or skin on. That pork roast had a good marbling of fat and wasn’t too lean anyways so you still had fat for moisture and flavor. If you felt it was dry then keep more fat on next time, but it is up to personal preference and not a must do. 💛
you wanna keep the fat on, fat side down in the crock pot then you trim it off, you need it to help it keep moist and not burn, as for your seasonings, great choice. the fat comes right off with a butter knife after you crockpot it =) also just ask your butcher, he can cut it in half, actually you can cut it in half, one side is boneless though. and as for the bone for the dog, NEVER give a dog a pork bone, it can splinter...
Peter Koenig Thank you so much Peter for you insight. Much appreciated. Everything you said I will keep in mind next time I make this. You're 100% right about the splinters, I remember many years ago when my mom had a dog. I just forget that part when I said the dog thing in the video
I cant believe the difference between the price of meat over here in the UK and in the states. That would cost 40-50 bucks over here all day every day. Anyway, nice vid, thanks for posting.
The meat wasn't cheap because you bought in a larger quantity, it was cheap because walmart discounted it because it was about to go bad. I know because I just bought an 8lb shoulder for the same exact reason. X-D
Or u could boil in water gets all that flavor out slow steam reduce add some creole seasoning dump that in some ice trays so next time u all need a boost in ur graveys or greens redy to go
I thought your recipe looked pretty good. As a former restaurant owner and cook you need to realize the importance of what bone has to offer. Maybe try, if you already haven't, what is quite possibly the best broth in the world which starts with boiling bones. Just do a google search for a local Pho place and give it a try. If cooking is a passion like it is to me you will always want to try and learn new things. Wish you the best on your videos.

Great video, love me some Swine, haha recipe pretty much cooks itself,
Primal Training Yes sir. Pretty much just set it up and hours later you have it all ready to eat up.
My last 4 shoulders had a single small blade bone, flat and small. Is that a shank or?
Yo, that was all right man. Thanks!
sure .. any time
you should save the bone and use to for making beans with it later :)
I did a few weeks ago. Thanks my friend

CrockPot man....
thanks for the tip. i will do that next time
Yeah man the bone for beans and rice! Thanks for the cue
Perfect. Thanks
You're welcome 😁
whats teh advantage of that vs just using a regular pot and slow cooking?

your so like denzel thanks for receipe ☺
+amanda hamillton thank you so much :-)
Can I use Goya sazon? Also where is your accent from?
Heelcrackbangs yes u can use Goya sazon. My accent is from New York
if it fits after trimming the fat, can I cook it whole without deboning and expect that it will still cook through if I flip it half way?
sure. why not
if it's a smaller piece that will fit in my crock pot can I just put it in there as a whole?
I'm not a very experienced cook lol
yes you can. Any size Crock-Pot will do with any size peice of meat as long as it fits
I have all those ingredients so i just threw it in in the crock pot with all those seasonings. woot woot. i'm use to those seasonings so i know its going to taste the BOMB :D

All the flavor comes from the bone.
I got one today because it was cheap.... Thanks for the video because I had no clue how to cook it
glad i was able to help. thanks for watching
hey you could have used the bone to make a broth or put it with some beans and rice. used our for flavor.
+Curtis May I had this again and I did that a few weeks ago
why do you sound like Denzel Washington
he sounds like me lol.
thank you !!!
thanks man!
no problem
Keep the bone for a navy bean soup
no way fat on for sure....skin too...easier solution, get bigger crock pot lol. I would have just use the oven at that point....
I cant believe the difference between the price of meat over here in the UK and in the states. That would cost 40-50 bucks over here all day every day. Anyway, nice vid, thanks for posting.
+OneEyePI 40- 50 bucks. wow thats a lot of money
+OneTallman Yup, meat here costs waaay more :-/
Why throw the bone in "the garbage can" when that beautiful bone will make a wonderful ham soup?
Looks great, but wondering why you didn't braise or pan fry the meat prior?
The meat wasn't cheap because you bought in a larger quantity, it was cheap because walmart discounted it because it was about to go bad. I know because I just bought an 8lb shoulder for the same exact reason. X-D
THROW IT IN THE TRASH?!! no baby.... what is you doin...... save that bone for a pot of beans.
I should have... I wasn't thinking
Or u could boil in water gets all that flavor out slow steam reduce add some creole seasoning dump that in some ice trays so next time u all need a boost in ur graveys or greens redy to go

yeah well im not perfect

Doesnt want fat puts meat in nasty sink. Lol

and with the fat that was cooked could be used to make gravy. my mouth is watering tho.
