2525: The Kig Yar Shipmistress Char'R Yar has been on a spree of raids against unknown Alien vessels. However in her selfish search for bounty she unknowingly begins the greatest conflict the Covenant and Humanity will ever know.
*slight error. The Kig Yar ship is called Minor Transgression, not Minor Transcendence as we have called it in the video. Sorry for this mistake.

That was interesting. I really like when they do stories that show how the different species interact with each other. I really wish they’d do more with Jackals and Engineers. I have Contact Harvest on a bookshelf and I seriously need to get around to actually reading it. The problem is I’m very very bad with procrastination. If I don’t have a clear deadline then I most likely won’t do said task. Even though I still know a good chunk of what happens in the book I’d definitely still be able to enjoy it (I had a similar experience with Soylent Green).
I really wish that they would have just stuck with the original idea for the Forerunners to literally be ancient humans. It would have been so much cooler. Plus, it would have added poetic irony to the fact that the Covenant were waging holy war against the children of their gods (which is kind of the whole reason Truth and the others started this war because they knew humanity’s existence was a direct threat to their power).
I know this is kind of off topic, but it’s connected because it’s Halo (well, Halo in name and visuals). The show was a complete dumpster fire that’s irredeemable. Early on I was thinking that they could pull a George Lucas and make something akin to the Special Edition edits. What I mean by that is once the series/season is done they’d go back and reorder/cut/reshoot scenes to make things flow better, make Chief wear his armor/helmet, replace that crazy guy with a Jackal like Ref was supposed to be in that Cole Protocol book (keep Squidward’s house on his desk because that’s absolutely hilarious!), and fix various continuity errors within the series. Now I realize it simply cannot be salvaged. At this point you’d need to just reboot the whole things. It’s so sad that we couldn’t have had something truly phenomenal, but all we got was a train wreck.
My ideal Halo show would have been a mini series that juggles the plots of CE, The Flood book, and Fireteam Raven. The different side stories would have allowed them to show how the different groups view the war and interact with each other. For tone it could be a gritty war story with a few moments of levity, and when Chief is on screen they’d have over the top action as a way to show that Spartans can do things that normal humans can’t. And they could have had flashbacks to Fall of Reach, Contact Harvest, and other prequel books to show off more of the universe and inform the audience of what’s going on. It was pretty much already set in stone. All they had to do was translate it into film/tv. What would your ideal Halo show be?
I’m going to give the actors the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s they’re in a similar situation to the Disney Star Wars actors where they didn’t like what was going on. They just didn’t say anything until it was done because of NDAs and they’d be out of a job. Once this is completely over we’ll see how much bigger the disaster actually was.
    Good video

I'm glad you enjoyed the video man! And yes I agree, I love the the Covenant's perspective in Halo, its mainly the reason Halo 2 is my favourite of the games.
If you like Engineers you could read the Kilo 5 trilogy or Halo Last Light. There is a great Engineer in that.
And yeah I also agree about the Halo show, I honestly wish they just adapted the books but keep the aesthetic of the games. I did like how the armour, guns and vehicles looked in the show and I really enjoyed Soren as a character.

Halo 2 is definitely my favorite game in the series. It has by far the best story. Sure, there’s definitely flaws in the gameplay due to it’s rushed nature, but lose can largely be overlooked (as long as you’re not playing on Legendary). I really liked how they added dual wielding (before it was nerfed in 3 with the terrible accuracy penalty and only doing 1.5 damage instead of full damage. Then it was sadly removed in all future games. I’m perfectly fine with it not being in ODST since you’re playing as normal humans, but it really should have been in the others with it’s flaws ironed out), vehicle highjacking, Brutes (although, they definitely could have been done a lot better), Drones, the Graveminds, and several other cool staples of the series. Luckily rebalancing mods and the fact that 343 is now working with modders to restore cut content will be able to make the experience even better.
4 would probably have been my other favorite because it has a really good story, but there were definitely problems with the overall execution. As well as the fact that the gameplay was a streamlined Reach with some COD elements that didn’t really fit. It seriously should have been a launch title for the Xbox 720 like originally intended (remember those “leaks” with the hideous controller, and bizarrely shaped console? That was really funny). Then they wouldn’t have had to cut back on squad sizes/enemy ai, explosions/debris, the levels would have been more open, and they would have had proper time to fix the various flaws in the gameplay. I’m sure that if they had the time the Prometheans would have functioned like they do in 5, which were a lot more fun to fight (ignoring the Warden, and just about everything else in 5. They did a few things really good, but the super majority was garbage. It’s like Deviantart where you have to dig through a literal ocean of trash to find the good stuff). There probably would have been more levels where they could have better fleshed out the Storm Covenant like they did in Spartan Ops; and exactly who/what the Didact, Prometheans, and Librarian were. The game seriously needed like 2-3 more levels. Interestingly in the cut dialogue there were a lot of lines that would have helped to tie the game in with what came before, some lines would have added some much needed context to the different forces at play, gave the game more character, but others just got in the way of show don’t tell. There were also those builds that leaked and it’s very interesting seeing how the levels changed over time. Hopefully once 4 gets modding tools a group of modders (with a coherent vision) can get together and combine the best aspects of the different builds, rebalance things that didn’t work, and use different assets to make the art style look better where it makes sense. I’m perfectly fine with how they made the Jackals look, and actually prefer them to the Bungie Jackals (neither holds a candle to the Skirmishers though). Halo 4 could have been so much more, but was held back by a myriad of factors.
My other favorite campaign is ODST. I really liked how you play as a group of normal humans going against the Covenant. It was really fun, had a lot of cool set pieces, and was a good self contained side story. Although, we seriously should have been fighting the Elites for the first half/two thirds of the game, with the Brutes appearing in the last chunk and night missions. It would have added some more enemy variety. Made sense because the Elites wouldn’t just magically disappear and be replaced by Brutes literally right after Regret’s ship jumped. We could have seen the Great Schism in real time from the perspective of ODSTs, and they’d be able to escape in the chaos. It was seriously a missed opportunity. They also should have refined the Brutes more so that they weren’t just bootleg Elites like in 3. Infinite has the best version of the Brutes in terms of gameplay. I really like how their armor pops off when shot at. More games seriously need to do that. My biggest problems with ODST are that it could have been, in fact should have been so much more. I still really like it, but I always get disappointed when I think about what it could have been.
Back when I was a kid I didn’t really know the lore and so I assumed that ODSTs were minor Spartans meaning they had lesser augmentations and worse gear. Essentially Spartan 3s, but I didn’t know about those at the time. Now I know they’re basically future Navy Seals dropped from space.
I should really check those out. Thanks for the recommendation.
Admittedly I haven’t watch watched the show due to a combination of I knew it would be awful, and I didn’t want to pay for Paramount Plus just to watch a show I wouldn’t like (I’d only ever pay for the streaming service momentarily just so I could watch Fred the Movie again. That movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. By no means would I describe it as good, but it’s a weird part of my childhood that I enjoy against my better judgement😂). I mostly just watched a bunch of clips and reviews. It’s so weird how the action scenes were really good and the visuals were amazing. But, the story was horrible and didn’t even feel like Halo. I’m glad it’s not canon. If they were to do an alternate universe show they should have had the first season be an adaptation of CE (have Skirmishers in earlier episodes that disappear towards the end, Phantoms used sparingly, and some of the weapons/vehicles to tie it in with later material) and after that went with the original story for Halo 2 where the Forerunners were ancient humans. If they were to use the best elements from different Halo media to enhance the story/visuals that would have been great. Sounds excellent in my head, but could easily be a bad idea, and who knows if they’d actually be competent in creating that.
      Good luck with future content.

I appreciate the feedback however every other bit of feedback I've had had been positive about my lore videos, and although I'm not writing at the moment I'm sticking with the style for future videos as it's what people seem to like. One was even mentioned on canon fodder about a year ago.
And as this story comes entirely from a book it's the reason I added the soundscape to add some atmosphere. Sorry if this style of video isn't for you but it's what I do 🤷
