‘no ill’ is a song written by a few strangers in a flat on Upper Street in London during deadmen’s second writing trip abroad. Frida Touray had some free time in her schedule between touring/writing sessions with acts like Lianne las Havas, Ed Sheeran, and Common, and was open to meeting a couple of Matts for a blind writing session one wintery afternoon. It didn’t take long for the pleasantries to get out of the way before the trio found themselves in the vulnerable space of writing about a recent break-up. With Frida perched on a chair humming potential melodies and the Matts tapping in and out of computer duties while building the beat, the song was of the sort that seemed to fall out of the air.
Speaking about what materialized that day Frida says “Lyrically it's trying to convey respect for someone you love and honoring of a relationship that has ended. Change can feel bittersweet but even through the fear and doubts, this song has a quiet hopefulness about it.”
    LYRICS:
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
    Drowned in rain
    No romance or blushing end
To my story it’s a shame
    Fully scripted to my...
    Fully scripted to my pain
    Left my things
    Hollow homes
    And torn up seams
Floating dreams left in the wind
Stitch it up and start a…
Stitch it up and start again
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
    Mind (confused)
    My (stars)
    Seem (faded)
    Heart (so)
    Easily (locked)
    And (jaded)
My eyes seen what you created
    It fills me with hope
    It fills me with hope
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
I bear no ill to you
    You sacred love of mine
I’ll find more truth in your quiet
    Than words could ever describe
