      Asain carp outperforms skipjack in our area by far. Drum probably the second best bait. Our area of the Ohio river basically only requires 2 baits, asain carp in warm water and gizzard shad in cold. 10 years ago this was not the case at all. The size of our gizzards have grown drastically and the number of our carp have increased 100 fold.

    Well Done Micka. Asian Carp seems to work pretty good. Does it hang in there like white bass (does not get dinked off like skipjack)? I use red horse sucker occasionally over here, works pretty good in warn water. To me, taking care of the bait always important, keep it fresh and wet so it does not leach out the oils and blood. Anything is better than having to go to grocery store bait (chicken, pork, etc).

    • @rogermosberger6856
      @rogermosberger6856 25 днів тому +2

      I saw inquiries asking how well it stays on the hook. Trust me, just leave the skin and scales on, hook it lightly thru the corner, in the flesh and out thru the skin. You will have to work hard to remove it when u want to take it off. We use it on the Wabash well into winter with good success.

    I'm a couple minutes in the video and you say "Asian carp" and obviously the title... but do you know the specific species? Common, silver, big head, grass? I've not used any for catfish bait but I plan on it once I can get back out on the boat and get to the river channel. I have been catching plenty of common carp but I've never managed to snag or find any silver carp here on Old Hickory.
