Micka, thanks for making me feel like you are talking directly to me and only me in the way you make your videos. Appreciate that aspect of your filming. Thanks!
@@Sticky.Situation no problem. I appreciate that.
Caught my new personal best 101.79 pound blue on September 7th, 2024 using asian carp on the Missouri River. It's awesome bait as long as it's natural to the body of water that you're fishing.
That's freaking awesome. Congratulations on that 🐖 . Yeah I agree with use what's natural to the water you fish for sure.
Awesome video !!! At the beginning of video I see you have a new captain on the boat
@@michaelknight9112 thank you. Yeah it's my little dog. She loves being on the boat but only in good weather conditions. To hot or to cold it's a nogo. 😆
@@mickaburkhart14 same here
Yes it does, I believe there are a couple companies selling it pre packaged with good reports, another great video Micka
@@Bshepherd24 thank you. Yeah there are a couple but I just believe fresh is slightly better. But I could be wrong.
It works for us year round
@@OutdoorWickedAdventures really? Even in the winter?
That blue did not want picture time Micka 😂
@@hunter5858 lol no it didn't.
Micka you know that baits come and go depending on water conditions. But confidence in a bait also help you fish it more
@@JamesSpen yeah that's very true. I'm glad I gave it a shot. So added one more option to the bait game.
Great video
@@EverettMarshall-c2f thank you
Enjoy the videos I come to work an hour just to watch them & if I can't finish it I'll pause them until night just to finish watching them keep them coming thks.
@@kennyhaddock6216 thank you. I appreciate that.
We use Asian carp all the time in the Missouri river in Missouri spring and fall.
@@michaelowens944 ok good deal. I'm going to use it alot more but gonna see when the peak time around here to use it. Probably not going to be much different than your area though.
Awesome

Thnx for sharing
Brother 👊
Do another one this winter🤪
@@cattucky7297 thank you. I've already plan to try that bait in the winter 😆. Got to know you know.
45 minute lunch break is about to be a whole lot better. As always appreciate you taking us along with you
@@travishanger8604 lol thank you.
That is fishing. When you do not have any expectations for how well your trip will be. It sometimes turns out very well. I'm glad it did this time for you. Be blessed. My brother.
@@JoeHazlet your exactly right. I honestly didn't have high hopes but I see using that bait way differently now lol.
I'm glad you found a great use for those invasive carp! Tight lines!!
@@goodcitizen64 thank you. Yeah I'm going to use them more for sure.
Great bait, and I’m glad to see someone else who uses drum. The bait myths can get overwhelming.
@@catlifeoutdoors6369 yeah I've heard alot of them. Just got to get out and try them and come up with your own opinion 😆
Asain carp outperforms skipjack in our area by far. Drum probably the second best bait. Our area of the Ohio river basically only requires 2 baits, asain carp in warm water and gizzard shad in cold. 10 years ago this was not the case at all. The size of our gizzards have grown drastically and the number of our carp have increased 100 fold.
Great video keep them coming!
@@PopPopJoe thank you
Poor little feller Micka the lip ripper😂🤣😂great video 👍👍
@@randylippert6416 😆 🤣 thank you
Works great for me anytime the water temp is above 80 seems like, idk the reasoning behind that but seems like anything under 80 and I don’t get bit!
@@katdaddyking970 that is interesting. But I'm gonna try it again during a couple winter trips to see what happens.
Awesome video been wondering about the Asian carp myself. So now I guess I'll not rule it out thanks for sharing. And yes they smell horrible
@@trinityoutdoors thank you. Yeah definitely a good bait option.
Was hoping the first fish wasn’t snagged, but your first 200 pounder
@@stephenbriles8404 lol I was definitely hoping that also.
Well Done Micka. Asian Carp seems to work pretty good. Does it hang in there like white bass (does not get dinked off like skipjack)? I use red horse sucker occasionally over here, works pretty good in warn water. To me, taking care of the bait always important, keep it fresh and wet so it does not leach out the oils and blood. Anything is better than having to go to grocery store bait (chicken, pork, etc).
I saw inquiries asking how well it stays on the hook. Trust me, just leave the skin and scales on, hook it lightly thru the corner, in the flesh and out thru the skin. You will have to work hard to remove it when u want to take it off. We use it on the Wabash well into winter with good success.
@@markybob_bassplaya1462 lol you are 100% correct on that.
@@rogermosberger6856 I found that to be the case for sure. I had to cut it off.
I have had mixed results with commercial cured carp, and have never tried fresh.
I never release carp alive so maybe I will have to try them as bait.
@@HomesickforAlaska yeah the commercial stuff I don't use but the fresh seemed to work pretty good.
Them Damn Things Are Dangerous around Here. A Carp to the Head at 20 mph Sucks! Great Video Brother!
@@brucewjourney1175 thank you. Well fortunately we have em but they don't jump like that here as I've seen in other places.
Nice video Micka !! I’m really enjoying your channel . I tend to press a button and my UA-cam continually plays from episode to the next . If you have the time ( I realize you’re busy ) to make some playlists I think a lot of people are like me and you might gain a lot from that . Thanks and looking forward to more .
@@rick129 ok awesome idea. I guess next I'll have to figure out how to make a playlist 😆. Thank you.
@@mickaburkhart14 Awesome - I noticed Spencer has them split into Blues , Channels etc . I think a good idea would be your most recent ten. When I’m driving or on the weekend I will just leave it play . I’m sure this wouldn’t hurt the numbers 🙂 . Thanks again - I will keep sharing for ya 👍
@@rick129 thank you I appreciate that.
Hey MB it’s the SlimFisherman, I’m inviting you up to southern Indiana to show you that the Ohio river is no push over! I’ve got places on this river that have never seen a bait and with your style of fishin I know we can wear out some big uns! I’ve got just a couple crappy you tube videos so don’t pay attention to my you tube abilities
@@TheSlimFisherman well thank you for that. I appreciate the invite. I'll definitely have to see what I can fit in to my schedule to make it up there.
Great bait
I'm a couple minutes in the video and you say "Asian carp" and obviously the title... but do you know the specific species? Common, silver, big head, grass? I've not used any for catfish bait but I plan on it once I can get back out on the boat and get to the river channel. I have been catching plenty of common carp but I've never managed to snag or find any silver carp here on Old Hickory. TWRA has signs saying to report if you catch em and to kill since they're invasive but I haven't really targeted them. Thanks as always and enjoying the video as usual 💯
@@castandtrail thank you. I really don't pay that much attention to whether it's an Asian or silver or big head lol. They look really similar to me. Either way turns out it's pretty good bait. I've heard of people getting them in old hickory but not sure if there is alot of them like on the river.
@@mickaburkhart14 Yea I honestly wouldn't know if I had a silver or big head 😅. Common and grass carp much easier to identify, but sounds like you were using one of the invasive ones (silver or big head), correct?
@@castandtrail yes definitely one of those.
I'm not certain, but he said it was about 20 lbs so I would assume probably a silver.. but very well could be a common, but that would be a very big common..lol
I’ve had decent luck on the Ohio with Asian Carp ..I still prefer skip.
Yeah me too.
What size triple threat hook u are using and where could i get some
@@jamesatkinson8130 I use the 10/0 mostly. But I have a link in the description section with my discount code. Help save a little money.
And are they circle hooks?
@@jamesatkinson8130 they are a hybrid hook. You can fish them like a circle hook or like a j hook. They are something special in my opinion.
Thank you mica
I have drug it and suspended it for miles without a sniff.
@@redneckolympics man that's terrible. Up until this trip I had the same results but hey it does work I guess if used in the right area or water temp or whatever causes them fish to want it.
Never tried coffee how good does it work
Lol I don't know. I've never used it but at the time I had the same confidence in using either bait.
@@mickaburkhart14 I heard if u soak chicken in it it works decent I might try it next time I'm out
