Yes! Dahyun has many covers! She does Melody projects. She did a collab with Chaeyoung where they did JYP and Rains "Switch to Me" so you could start with that since Chae is there as well. There's also "monster" by Katie Skye that she covered. "Good Mood" By Adam Levine "Gidalida" By Baek Kik She also did a feel special piano and vocal solo cover. There are many other covers she did that I forgot the name of but sadly no actual solo comebacks.

Chaeyoung indeed trained as a singer but she quickly got interested and trained in rapping around iirc 1 yr into her trainee days. That's abt 1 to 2 yrs before sixteen. I believe it's actually Dahyun you're talking about whom had to change to compete as a rapper just before sixteen.
I think Chaeyoung is extremely talented and creative. She is a superstar waiting to blossom imo. Obviously she is well known, loved by many and has her place in TWICE but she has so much more to give to the entertainment industry. The era of Chae is coming…

Sana and Momo (unsurprisingly) have a very typically Japanese way of singing, which I really love being a JPop lover first and foremost. I’m with you on Mina. I really wish she would just open her mouth more. I come from a choir background, so it actually kind of bothers me how tight her jaw is. Her natural sound is so pretty. Her tone would sound much more full and vibrant if she relaxed her jaw. I’m surprised the folks at JYP haven’t tried to train that habit out of her. I think they’re all very colorful singers and I love their voices individually. I wish Jeongyeon got more love because she probably has my favorite voice out of the group. It sounds so much more mature than everyone else’s voice, but it doesn’t feel out of place among them.
Ok, I know you will love to chat about this. My theory about that closed jaw/tense jaw is actually that there was one point in kpop idol "history" where I noticed that companies were really pushing "pretty face during singing" so no wild openers, nose scrunches...well nothing you need for proper belting and so, which is...again ridiculous, but it shows how neglected singing sometimes is. I think she has this effect.. What do you think?
@@Katriinka I never actually considered that, but it makes a lot of sense! Mainstream KPop is so focused on image that it often trumps everything, even more than talent. I wouldn’t be surprised if many singers, not just Mina, are discouraged from making expressions like you described when singing because they aren’t “pretty” and break the perfect image. The obsession with perfection is actually what has kept me from really becoming a KPop fan fully. I dabble here and there and really enjoy groups like TWICE and Red Velvet, but there is often a sense of artificiality and impersonality. Everything has to be perfect. There’s very little live singing anymore and if they do sing live, many times, the backing track is so loud, they might as well be lipsyncing. Even in programs like this where they’re supposed to be singing live, it’s so heavily produced and edited so that nearly any imperfection or mistake that is sometimes bound to happen in live singing is scrubbed out. So, yeah. I can definitely see where you’re coming from. Let singers look ugly! It’s okay!
Even MOMO, SANA AND Dahyun who are considered the bottom line when it comes to vocals, they never fail to surprise me. As someone who is not educated on the topic of vocals and stuff, they all sound like main vocalists to me. Their voices have a certain flavor and contrast that I've never found in another group. I really really love TWICE.

I appreciate how much you talk about vocal pedagogy in your kpop videos. You're very great and breaking down each member's vocal style and tone. I was also very disappointed how Red Velvet was heavily edited on Dingo, they didn't need it. You talk about each member's voice, and I love that! Not everyone in kpop is a Jihyo or Wendy. I generally like the subvocals of a group or indie voice types . Diva singers are just not my type and in kpop, not everyone is there to be a main vocalist. That's okay - kpop is about the variety of every member!
Twice has a melody project, where you can listen to covers by Dahen and other girls, and they also have solo performances at concerts in the last tour. At one point, Jeonyong had few excerpts due to a break for health reasons

The jyp half air half sound can be found in a lot of the older generation groups and Twice was one of the last groups really implement it. Besides a select few in the newer debuted groups like Chaeryeong Bangchan

Woahhh 🤯. I can't believe that I just finished watching a one (1) hour reaction video. That's like watching a movie. It's like I've been brainwashed. I mean, Coach Kat keeps on saying during the video that the video would last for 30 minutes, then I remembered that TWICE's Dingo video lasted for 31 minutes so I thought that maybe the video would be between 30-40 mins long. I didn't know the exact length of the reaction video 'coz I was watching right after the countdown of premier with the live chats. So yes I'm really surprised hahahaha... Sana and Momo (unsurprisingly) have a very typically Japanese way of singing, which I really love being a JPop lover first and foremost. I’m with you on Mina. I really wish she would just open her mouth more. I come from a choir background, so it actually kind of bothers me how tight her jaw is. Her natural sound is so pretty. Her tone would sound much more full and vibrant if she relaxed her jaw. I’m surprised the folks at JYP haven’t tried to train that habit out of her. I think they’re all very colorful singers and I love their voices individually. I wish Jeongyeon got more love because she probably has my favorite voice out of the group. It sounds so much more mature than everyone else’s voice, but it doesn’t feel out of place among them.
Ok, I know you will love to chat about this. My theory about that closed jaw/tense jaw is actually that there was one point in kpop idol "history" where I noticed that companies were really pushing "pretty face during singing" so no wild openers, nose scrunches...well nothing you need for proper belting and so, which is...again ridiculous, but it shows how neglected singing sometimes is. I think she has this effect.. What do you think?
@@Katriinka I never actually considered that, but it makes a lot of sense! Mainstream KPop is so focused on image that it often trumps everything, even more than talent. I wouldn’t be surprised if many singers, not just Mina, are discouraged from making expressions like you described when singing because they aren’t “pretty” and break the perfect image. The obsession with perfection is actually what has kept me from really becoming a KPop fan fully. I dabble here and there and really enjoy groups like TWICE and Red Velvet, but there is often a sense of artificiality and impersonality. Everything has to be perfect. There’s very little live singing anymore and if they do sing live, many times, the backing track is so loud, they might as well be lipsyncing. Even in programs like this where they’re supposed to be singing live, it’s so heavily produced and edited so that nearly any imperfection or mistake that is sometimes bound to happen in live singing is scrubbed out. So, yeah. I can definitely see where you’re coming from. Let singers look ugly! It’s okay!
Even MOMO, SANA AND Dahyun who are considered the bottom line when it comes to vocals, they never fail to surprise me. As someone who is not educated on the topic of vocals and stuff, they all sound like main vocalists to me. Their voices have a certain flavor and contrast that I've never found in another group. I really really love TWICE.
Twice vocals have improved and matured so much! I can't believe the insecure haters (some even commenting on videos like this?!) still denying the fact that these girls can sing! THEY ARE PERFORMERS, WORLD-CLASS IDOLS, AND ALWAYS ALWAYS GIVE THEIR 100% EVERY TIME. Haters still gonna be haters but my girls will keep on getting more 💸, more famous, and happier! I was also very disappointed how Red Velvet was heavily edited on Dingo, they didn't need it.
You talk about each member's voice, and I love that! Not everyone in kpop is a Jihyo or Wendy. I generally like the subvocals of a group or indie voice types . Diva singers are just not my type and in kpop, not everyone is there to be a main vocalist. That's okay - kpop is about the variety of every member!
Twice has a melody project, where you can listen to covers by Dahen and other girls, and they also have solo performances at concerts in the last tour. At one point, Jeonyong had few excerpts due to a break for health reasons
I thought i was the one who notice the husky of her voice, believed me i repeat it again and again its kinda good to listen.
Love all your reactions Kat! TWICE always hold the number one spot in my heart mainly due to their cheerful relaxing genre and discography, not forgetting their vocal talents and visuals. But I noticed you have not started listening to XG, which is a 7 Japanese girl group but marketed themselves in the KPOP industry. They are a really talented group debuted in 2022 and has won over many fans in just less than 2 years.
You may want to them out starting from their debut track "Tippy Toes", "Mascara", "Shooting Star", "Left Right", "Winter Without You", "Puppet Show" "TGIF", "New Dance"and more. They genres are heavily R&B, Rap and Y2K Pop influenced. Really looking forward to your reactions to them soon~!!

For me, Twice main point was never their vocals! is the way they bring fun and emotion to the songs they perform! u can see that the entire video u were smiling and vibing with them. they lack in vocals? maybe, but they never were marketed like that and that's something that i value.
Twice is kpop, but kpop will never have another Twice!

I saw them live last month and I was soooo impressed at their live singing, really good. Aside from obviously jihyo belting away perfectly, the one that impressed me most live was sana. She’s so good live!! Also tzuyu really surprised me at how great it was to hear her live in the stadium
