- I was having trouble with my head lights after a year of the stock ones on there they turned off whenever they wanted. So i ordered some LEDs and some blue tinted glass ones from wish or geek, in other word China. They are not the greatest but get the job done. LEDs didn't fit because they are too round and big to fit, thats what she said. The other pair fit perfectly. Unfortunately the drivers side is hard to unscrew the cap without it falling down, and even harder to take out the light and electric connector inside the housing. So i tried taking out the housing and it wouldn't budge so i proceeded to remove the bumper and found out the bottom of the headlights are riveted to the bumper. Cant be taken off by me because I don't want to break them and let moisture in. Its a 2 person job to remove the entire thing because it is heavy. If you do it yourself be fast at catching both sides with your body and from the hooks (where headlight bolts on in the middle) on top of each headlight after removing everything. And lay down cardboard or some thick towels or carpets. 😂🤣😂 good luck. Any help getting the headlights detached from the bumper would help me a lot thanks all.

There is a retention clip on the bottom of the headlight assembly, with 5 slot pegs that insert into a bracket riveted to the bumper cover. You can see the bracket at 3:34. To remove the assembly, a long thin flat head screw driver can be used across the bottom of the assembly to push the pegs back through the slot while pushing the assembly backwards out of the cover
Ivan, thanks for showing how to remove bump to change headlights. Think my 2017 kia forte is the same. I'll try again.
Wish it was step by step but definitely helps to have 2 people and a nice place to set it.... upside down when you get the front off. And it should apply to the 13 to 18 models even if they do have a different look.
That is the correct term, those are f#$^8, cheap, thin bumpers. So easy to misalign the bulbs
What a great design eh? I was able to do both sides on a 2015, without pulling the headlamp assembly out on either side. You need small hands and sufficient grip strength to get into the narrow gaps behind these headlamp assemblies, no tool will work. Fortunate for me I was able to without going through any of this nonsense, it can be done.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to replace every light bulb it's easier to remove everything. If you just want to get to the headlight low beams then pull the driver's side off a little and remove all the plastic liner in the wheel well to expose that headlight to be changed out. Passenger side is easy and no need to remove bumper.
How do I change just the drivers side headlight low beam bulb?
You know when we put led lights with the fan, is it fine having the dust cap on? or does it affect air circulation or something?
I have Kia Cerato which is basically the same as Forte, here in Australia they call it Cerato.
After years of research. It's fine for the led light bulb, but it's bad for the housing. It lets moisture in and it may start fogging it from the inside out. Some people cut a hole out in the dust cap and then seal it around the cap after installing the led light housing with the supplied fan it has...others put the extended housings from Ebay. All I did to find them was put the car name and year and put dust caps you get plenty of them of different styles. But be careful... get the right ones that fit .
