Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Going to conventions gives me an extraordinary amount of anxiety because I just lose focus and I want everything. I actually worry that I wouldn’t have self-control videos like this really are wonderful.
I have no self control so I end up spending way too much, but its so much fun for me kinda worth it. And I get things for cheaper then if I had to buy them on ebay so there is savings in a way even though I spent so much haha Happy you enjoy the video and my anxiety in life is always high so I totally understand. So many great artist there this year its been amazing.
This video got me hyped up even more for New York comicon. I’m not used to conventions having that many comic books anymore, can’t wait to be there in a week from now.
I was hoping you'd do a video like this! I much prefer watching this from the comfort of my own couch to buying a ticket and standing in lines at Javitz! Keep 'em coming!
Haha the lines blow balls so bad. But I find hunting for comics actually is not as bad as the other stuff. Happy I can make a long fun video to bring you along.
@@pop-comics That Video will be the videos of the Month easily for me...Look forward to it enjoy Just a thought are you going to break it down? Like Day one this is what I get etc
Just thought of a funny skit while watching this. Guy goes to his first comic con and after awhile realizes he finds looking through boxes of books boring and tiresome. So, he decides he'll just look over other people's shoulder and when he sees a book he wants he says, "excuse me, I've been looking for that book. Will you hand it to me please?". I envision Cozmo Kramer doing this. Lol
Haha funny thing is that happens for real sometimes, sometimes people get really aggressive and start digging the box your going through haha. You got to put your foot down and speak up abit because that is so uncool lol
Haha You were definitely there in my heart, I think I showed more Whiz and Captain Marvel comics then I normally would haha, One Mention of Captain Aero or Aerio and a Witchcraft 5 sighting lol
Yeah I am sure a New York Comic Con trip for you would lead to a huge giant pile of comics haha. Many many golden age deals to be had, some stuff way over price but so much at fair market and some deals way below market if you hunt a ton.
@@pop-comics I was pausing the video a lot and checking the stick prices. Some good deals but you are right lots over priced. Your friend skipped over a book I think he would have loved. Crown Comics 6, Matt Baker cover. I think it was his first cover.
Hi! Which booth did you make your second buy at (the two Wings books- love the bomber cover with the searchlights)? Also curious where you were looking at the original art and the slabbed Jungle Comics (the guys you were asking about their Katy Keene art). Thanks and fun video!
Dave and Adams I think was the booth with the original art, the second booth was right across from vistory comics forget the name, and the slabbed comics I think the booth name is written all over the back of the boxes so you shoulkd be able to pick that up. It was a few rows down from victory
YOU PAST UP REAL FACT COMICS WITH FIRST TOMMY TOMORROW STORY AS AN ASTRONAUT IT HAD 4 STORYS RUN BEFORE HE MOVED TO ACTION COMICS. THEY HAD HIM IN A WATER GLOBE SO HE WAS NOT CRUSHED BY ROCKET PRESSURE.
THEY PUT HIM IN A GLOBAL WATER WITH AIR TUBE BECAUSE THE THE ROCKET WOULD CRUSH HIM. OUR FIRST ASTRONAUT. STILL LOVE THE FIRST BLACK CAT STORYLINE BY HARVEY COMICS WITH ARTWORK BY LEE ELLIS LATER TO WORK ON GREEN ARROW AND DESTROYS THE ADAM STRANGE SERIES. BUT THE TOMMY TOMORROW WAS A GREAT READ.
One i can tell you and Shawn have a good friendship you guys were just vibing and having fun always awesome to see because i have no comic Friends near me or basically friends in general because all my buddies i met in the military so they live all over the place sadly
I live in Brazil, and our Comic-Con is relatively big, but we don't have this culture of back issues here. I think it's very sad, our comic shops are more like libraries of comics and even in our Comic Con (Comic Con Experience/CCXP), we don't find these editions :/ Bcs of this I love when I visit USA to go to comic shops; I started my comic collection this year, and I am saving money to go back to Florida, to go to the Coliseum of Comics, to buy tons of comics hahahahaha
@@pop-comics some stores sell, but isn't enough. But literally TODAY I found a seller in a small city of São Paulo, who I think is original from Florida, who sells some old comics, from Silver Age and etc, who sells the comics for good prices (bcs here in Brasil some sebos, stores that sells used books, and the best places to found old comics, sells for high prices, and is rare comics from the USA). I'll be a current client, and next month I'll begin buying a 1960's comic from Doom Patrol. I think that's awesome. But the USA is always the best way to buy back issues. Oh, I said it's rare to find comics from the USA in sebos, but I found some comics from Image and Miracleman from Moore, from Eclipse publisher, no. 2 (from 3 reais each, something like 60 cents!!)
If you ever get bored and want to send me some pictures of your local shop in ig I would love seeing that. I am always curious about comic shop from around the world.
Yeah they look awesome but would need a plan to buy. If you really want them you might have to sell some cheaper items from your collection until you can afford.
Key issues tend to have a premium, everything else is hit or miss. I can find booths with $3 golden age comics that should be $20 each and then other booths with the same comics for $40 etc lol But its huge there are so many vendors there that if you hunt around you will find great deals. My advice is to always check for what you know and if they priced that stuff farely or cheap then you can expect the rest of the stuff to be the same. If they over price I move on.
I am sure I enjoy a lot of the stuff you do, but I might have it already haha When I am at cons I focus on things that I dont see in collections that I want etc. Most mainstream things such as Batman and Spider-man comics everyone collects so I get those already in collections are rarely collect them on purpose etc. What stuff are you into?
I got there just before they opened at 10 AM. I do get professional passes though so my entrance is much quicker. The general entrance you probably want to get there an hour or two early.
Call me crazy, but I get a feeling your buddy likes the black characters, lol. I do too, so I really have no point, Haha. I know it's an older video, but I've just found the channel recently. I've never been to any sort of convention in my life. 38 years. One time I went to like an international festival in a convention center, lol. That would literally be it. This is not a cheap hobby, and I am poor. I feel like I'd be in trouble. I wouldn't be able to choose what I wanted with my budget, and would probably have to buy something and leave so I don't get upset when I see something else. I'd be tapped out once I saw some EC books most likely. I can't believe the value on those things.
Comics can get expensive, my best advice is if you want to collect but have a tight budget is to only hit dollar bins. Try to build the best collection you can enjoy $1 at a time. With $10-$20 a week budget you can have 1-2 long boxes of comics to read and enjoy every year. My friend Sean loves all comics in general but he has put more focus into Black Characters the last few years because he does not have enough space to collect everything.
It was still mandatory this year though I saw a lot of folks without. Cons do make me sick every year so it is probably for the best to wear one, I should have worn on in years past
You don't realize how common some books are until you go to a Comic Con
Yeah some stuff even key issues is super common.
If I can find a few to fill in some holes I would be so happy. It's a extreme rush when you find them.
SOME OF THOSE WINGS HAVE GREAT LEE ELIAS ARTWORK.
THE SAME WITH THE BLACK CAT
I agree love both. Currently trying to collect both runs.
I always like how close the comic community feels, friends for life, thank you for posting this video.
