  • Circle your opponent's arm/wrist to create an opening under their armpit/tricep. Once you make the connection, focus on closing the distance and getting shoulder to shoulder than reaching for the hip. Too many times I see people arm drag and run around in a circle. You can avoid this by traveling the shortest distance, a straight line.

That is beautiful despite several generations and almost a century of separation this is closer to the Japanese roots then almost any other technique I've seen.

This is what I've been working on the last few weeks. I think it's one of the stronger takedown entries

Def recommend this when standing. I've hit a few RNCs with it

Nice, yeah I like the Arm drag. I used to encounter that circling issue. I also really love the standing switch.

I like to step in between his feet with the same side foot of the arm that I am dragging with. Example Right hand pulling him towards my right side as my right foot steps in between his feet to prevent him from circling.
Another details is that I drag his arm slightly downwards to avoid the re-drag and the full on spin around defense.

I like it. In wrestling I used this moved to drag them to the mat. It’s also good for setting up the single leg or high crotch. You just yank them towards you let go and hit a quick level change. It’s a fun move to play around with.

I agree. Stepping in with the right leg actually gets you better close body contact.

Yeah, you stop the circling by stepping in between the legs

I use this method a ton but I learned a new back step motion. When they post you back step and slap the hand down and over then finish the drag.

Best to use it when they reach or try to collar tie with right hand, they add to the momentum as the reach…

I don't get the "wrestling for bjj" thing. Arm drags have been taught by the Gracies since day 1.

It’s just a channel that BJJ guys can learn wrestling on. Wrestling and takedowns are neglected so much at BJJ schools and is a big weakness in our sport. This channel helps them and provides that type of content. Also, I wrestled at a collegiate level and competed at the highest levels in BJJ - after time tested competitive experience I show what takedowns and “wrestling” has worked in Jiu Jitsu and I highlight the risks of certain takedowns in BJJ, and what changes you need to make to not fall into submissions, etc. honestly if you are a wrestler too… this channel is for you

Isnt it strange how that is from aikido, yet nobody slates it because its not in an aiki vid, people are so very strange

Don't be dumb. You aikido fanatics are annoying because you think aikido invented every fricking move ever lmao. That's like saying wing chun invented the straight punch. This is a basic move that exists in pretty much every grappling style you can think of.

If they’re doing it in slow motion.
If that happens to you in a fight you’ll give up your back before even realising you were in danger.
I’ve seen many fights and even in pure boxing they end up in a clinch, on the street it almost always goes to a clinch several times. Grappling against multiple opponents is a terrible idea but 1v1 it’s very hard to deal with.
