I agree. The quality of the food has gone down and tastes as if it's ultra-processed. Meanwhile, over the last several years the prices have continued to go up. It appeared someone in their marketing department was trying to remake the brand into a higher-end food choice. As a consumer, we have choices and continually evaluate the ROI. That's why I have stopped going there along with many many others. McDonald's has itself in a box because they got away from their original business model. The result was not just from inflation but their own doing IMHO.

About 20 of them and freeze them for when i need them
Costs me about a day to shop and cook but that frees up time later when getting home beat from work.
Mac n cheese, Chili, lasagne, ovenbaked fish
I also buy a few pounds of minced meat and freeze a few burgers and buns
Bin doing since early last fall
Gotten a rutine for it now and sofar i havent bored too much by having fixed options.

I vividly recall being about 8 years old (circa 1977) in the back seat of my dad's Oldsmobile Delta 88 as he took the whole family (of 4) to a McDonald's drive-thru. We all got what we wanted and the bill came to $8 and some change. I remember thinking my dad was LOADED, because it seemed like so much money to me back then.
Fast forward to today when buying food at McDonald's for just ONE of my two boys (it was an emergency situation - trust me, because we haven't eaten there in maybe a decade) hit me for nearly $16!!!!
Aside from the negative health consequences, I refuse to eat fast food anymore because it's just TOO DARN EXPENSIVE. I may as well just go eat at Benihana for these prices.

I checked Google and according to it, McDonald's made 14.5 billion in profits in 2023. I'm tired of how McDonald's says it's a low skill job and not worth $20 hr or we close the doors. It doesn't matter that making hamburgers is not a high skill, but the business had made a lot of money at low skill work since it's inception and their not willing to share the profits with the people that work there. I don't eat at McDonald's since they started to find the fight against the NRA back in the 90's. So McDonalds is just a high profit corporation that's not willing to share the money with it's employees and I sincerely hope they close all their doors for good very soon. Thank you McDonald's for making my day. 😂

The huge profits are only going to the top of the pyramid, which is corporate….as they squeeze the franchise owners. This hyperinflation is killing the franchise owners as their profits dwindle and they have to send their profits up to corporate. In a good economy, the franchise model works great but in this economy it’s just like an MLM with the franchise owners as the down-line with their profits being sent up to the peak of the pyramid. Blame corporate for not sharing with the employees…don’t blame the franchise owners.

But the corporation isn’t giving some of the billions back to the franchise owners so they can pay better wages to their workers.

They don't make anything at McD's that you can't make at home, and better quality at that. I don't see the appeal in going there. Cook up some burgers plain and stick them in the freezer. When you come home all tired and cranky, they'll be there for you, just five minutes in the microwave or in a frying pan. Want fries with that? Keep some sandwich bags full of chopped potatoes, and dump them in a frying pan with some oil. Precook those, too, if you want. It's not hard.

Steak and egg Muffins if made right (juicy, but cooked) are my weakness. A slice of cheese and grilled onion with a touch of pepper just make it. My local McD does it right, but I'm tight with my money and rarely eat there. Now with another 40%+ price hike on that sandwich from $5.58 to $8.29 on the drive through display has me waiting for the end of May and my sad good bye to the occasional juicy sandwich.

The fast food industry was never meant to give a living wage. They were there to give a decent meal for around $6. That was way back when of course because the quality of food was better a long time ago. Let’s dive a little deeper though! The problem nowadays is the employees could care less about what they are serving . For instance how many of us has gotten something we just knew wasn’t fresh. We go back for a refund or have them remake it. Now picture 50 customers having done that in a week . Say 200 a month. That’s a lot of food now the business is giving for free because the employees don’t care about procedures and hold times . That is money the owner now isn’t making on the bottom line. Which leads to higher prices all because the employees don’t care about what is being served.

I've been traveling for the past week and I've been to McDonald's about 4 times. We use the app and on the app you'll find deals and you get points when you buy stuff. You can use the points to get free food. I bought food at the McDonald's at the airport and got deals that weren't on their posted menu. No refills at the Seattle airport, but the one in Nevada and Arizona were kiosk only but had free pop refills. The store was busy each time we stopped in.

The infrastructure, labor, and food costs associated with transporting the components of McDonald's meal has made the cost of eating there too high for many people.
