The hard part is playing these at the rapid fire speed accurately. I notice a pattern in tons of metal songs like this with hammerons and palm mutes mixed in and then hammerons then pulloffs and normal notes mixed in.
Very nice work dude. Adrian Smith is a genius and you captured the essence of his playing well here. I think his vibrato is slightly more pronounced than what you are doing but I have to say, that sounded fucking awesome.
Don't think that is any insult to you. It certainly is not. I am still trying ta nail down Gilmour's vibrato and after 20 years of trying, I still can not make it sound exactly like his. I think vibrato is the hardest thing to copy. Every person has their own vibrato and to steal another's is very difficult. Try the solo in "All Right Now" by The Free and try to get that damn vibrato. It's almost impossible.
Dont worry about it mate, even jhonn petrucci said in a interview that he cant still nail or copy adrian smith's vibrato and it is said by a man who covered the whole number of the beast album.
You're welcome. I like it a lot too, that's why it was one of the first Maiden songs I wanted to play in a collab a few years ago. Too bad they don't always play it in concert
Great job Steph you really help me a lot ,im working on somewhere in time solo , i play 2,5 years the guitar and im self taught and im currently learning the somewhere in time solo.Pls correct me if im wrong but from what i saw in Smiths playing he does many repetitive licks and there are great exercises.Your tabs and videos especialy your 50 half speed helps a lot to see the picking things :) . But can you tell me what scales usually Smith uses to study? Thank you and again you help a lot
Thanks. That's true about repetitive licks, there is one lick like that most of the time in his solos, and sometimes you can find the smae lck in 2 different solos. About the scales, he usually mixes in minor pentatonic scale, blues sclae and aeolian mode. And sometimes he also likes the dominant phrygian mode
one of my favorite maiden solos and ive tried many times to nail this one but when he starts alternating between the 11th and 12th fret my fingers just start giving out.
@@StephLeGratteux now that I think about it I was using a carvin when I first tried it. Now I have an Ibanez and a strat which is longer scale length I believe. I have short fingers to which don't help. Lol
Honestly Steph every time I get a notification that you've posted a new one of these it puts a smile on my Face. Brilliant works as always!
Thanks!
Love Adrian’s phrasing. Also great playing & tone oozing from that Paul!
Thanks!
Thanks dude- I always thought it was tapping in the first part!
Yw. A lot of people think that but it's not tapping \m/
@@StephLeGratteux Well if you think about it, doing hammer-ons is essentially like tapping with extra steps.
i'm working on the prelude and the solo and i can say your tab is total accuracy. Congrats and keep the good work bro
Thanks!
Adrian admitted this was the solo he's most proud of.
WOW.......i listen it in loop all the night.....and i try to play it......thank you. GREAT!!

Thanks. I agree about his vibrato

The best lesson ever!!!smart..

Hugo Stigglitz yeah.... it’s brutal.
You are so EPIC DUDE ! :D
Thanks. Not as epic as this pre-solo interlude xD
Great job as always, congratulations.!!! it would be possible for you to do "Quest for fire" solo from "Piece of mind" ..?
Thanks. yes I can do that, but not before #30 as I have many other solos planned
Fabulous, great.!!! when you do it will be well received, thanks a lot.!!!
I can't even believe how much trouble I'm having right off the rip with that 1st part. Looks like time to break out the metronome god dammit!

Thanks

Stretching problem? I'm asking because I used the Les Paul which has a shorter scale length than my Charvel for instance, and it makes it a bit easier
@@StephLeGratteux now that I think about it I was using a carvin when I first tried it. Now I have an Ibanez and a strat which is longer scale length I believe. I have short fingers to which don't help. Lol
May I ask if you're releasing the 9th fret on the D before doing the 7-12 hammer? That helps make the stretch easier.
can you do daves solo for this please ?
I probably will
Dude, what’s that harmony in the end of the solo?? How do you do that?
bars 44-46?
Are there any whammy bar tricks on this song? I know that Iron Maiden loves using the whammy bar.
Renaissance Man listen to the original you will know
no
AWESOME! What year is that LP btw? Standard or traditional?
Thanks! It's a LP Standard from 1992
StephLeGratteux it's gorgeous!!
Hey mais on n'est pas vendredi ! :P Ce solo est top ! :D
I need longer fingers. :-D
Or a shorter guitar xD
