*Overall **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I feel the Shadowfire 360 offers excellent value for those who are new to tenkara and don't want to break the bank on their first rod purchase.*
Thanks for showing all ur fishing ways and showing best products to us. Ur a respectable person so calm u take things and show us all with nothing good manner and great attitude. Be nice someday I get go fish with u were we stay there nothing but small channel cat
Speaking of carp, I use to catch grass carp on acorns of all things as a child. I found the fish alway congregated under oak trees along the bank and put two and two together. No much fights like a carp.
Using light tackle to catch big fish is so much fun, I landed a 30lb buffalo fish on 8lb monofilament line using a cheap wallmart pole called the dock demon, the battle lasted so long I actually considered cutting the line, but I just had to see that fish, and thats what fishing is all about, the battle, getting to see your fish and the great outdoors of course.
I fought a 40 pound grass carp for over an hour on 2 pound test. Eventually I started getting impatient and ended up breaking the line. That was the third time I hooked that particular grass carp, still have yet to land it.
I know it's a lot of fun guys got my wife to go fishing she reeled in a big one on a small gear and she has been hooked ever since Beautiful video by the way from fisherman to fisherman keep the videos coming
Ok, nevermind. Found it. Love fishing below that dam. Caught more fish there, than anywhere else. From the mid 80s into the 90s, my dad ran a bait store right down the road from Barkley Dam. Now its just a memory, nothing left of the store
I used to park my boat by anchor about 50 ft off the back of a moored barged used to load other barges full of grain and corn. This is about one mile down river of Cincinnati. We took everything from bass poles to surf poles. Rarely did we ever bring one up. These things are so big we gave them a new name. 'LINESNAPPERS!!! I've never seen a couple of people laugh so hard fishing. A cooler full of beer and a pound or three of bacon and we would fish for hours.
Nice video guys! Carp are some of the most fun fish too catch in FW. Nothing runs like they do in FW when you hook up with them. Smallies jump, flatties bulldog down, and carp just burn your drag washers up.
I love watching your videos . Ever since I started watching I have been using your catfish rig none stop and I land and catch my fish every time . (The slip sinker rig/Carolina rig) it would be a dream come true to be able to fish with you for just an hour. Keep up the work and god bless.
Catfish and Carp FOR SURE. this was very satisfying to watch. I am SO TIRED of watching these sanctimonious sport fishing hotshots just a hucking back sea monsters all day that probably die after all the pictures and bullshit. EAT THEM.
2021 May sure would like to go fishing with you before this Marine goes to heaven. Love your sharing fishing video's, keep them coming. Catch / Clean / Eat your Big Catfish.. LOL
When I tell people that carp are some of the hardest fighting fish they sometimes don't believe me. They will come all the way in then turn around and take your line out and do that over and over. Super fun fight!
I live in Nebraska and there are tons of them, all kinds of species and will hit damn near anything. We have caught those Big head carp on everything from Silver spoons, jigs, crawlers, livers, and even grass. If you're fishing from the bank, invest in a $2 rod holder.
You are so right Kevin... They are fierce, FIERCE FIGHTERS. If caught in swift water rivers, are excellent table fare. My grandma and grandpa started a restaurant (and bar during prohibition) on and over the Missouri River called "Camp Rulo"... and Carp was a main fare there, along with the other river fish. My favorite fish to eat out of the Missouri is 'Drum'. They are a bitch to clean, and do not yield much meat, but they are great. Sorry, but the Big Head Carp are nothing but a nuisance and they are terribly ugly. Carp are one of the best to get kids to learn how to hook, fight and land fish on. Their eyes bug out when they feel a bigger fish rip the drag on a long run... If kids promise to endure the trip, and you surprise them at an active Carp location.... they'll want to stay and come back at dawn the next day.... If you all remember, I think it was field and stream magazine that informed the outdoor world that if you take kids fishing and hunting and have fun before they turn 12, that they will continue to keep it in the rest of their lives.... and pass it on to their children too..... those of us who made our living in the hunting, fishing, boating and camping world....love and thank you for doing this. The great outdoors thanks you too I'm sure. I doubt they thank the liberal tree huggers though because those weirdos don't understand how to help the great outdoors anyway.
This reminds me of my days of commercial fishing. I did that for 25 years. We're harvesting grass shrimp just supply bait shops all around the SF Bay Area. Well we're heading up to haul out with the boat to do or maintenance we stopped in San Francisco at a fuel dock. The guy running the doc says you guys got any fish in there. And we didn't but I said to him we got a couple trouser trouts. He said what's that. I said put your hand in your pocket and he busted up laughing. If you want to get free beer. Tell folks that you will tell them where to get the big fish for a case of beer. When they come back with a case of beer. Take your thumb and your finger and grab your lip and say this is where you catch them.
I love catching carp, the fastest longest running fish alive. I accidentally caught a 25 pound grass carp from my pond, and it was the hardest fight I ever had. Even a 1 foot grass carp will put up a better fight than a river smallmouth the same size.
I thought it was a big blue cat when I saw it in the water. then when he got it in the boat I thought it was a genetically modified rainbow trout. I can't believe you guys are out there eating carp. are times that hard lol. have you ever heard the "carp on a brick in a BBQ" saying, where you end up eating the brick instead of the fish 😂
The best recipe for carp! First you build a campfire, then find yourself a big piece of wood. Nail the carp to the wood, and throw it into the open flames. When all the juices of the carp bubble out onto the wood, then you know it's ready. You throw away the carpet and eat the wood! LOL
Lucky bastards lol!! I love fishing, ive been fishing since i was 5! To be honest, it kinda saved my ass. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, nd once i caught my first striper. I was completely hooked!! So wen the spring/summer time came, i was fishing. Not chilling around the twn.. So like i said i love fishing lol, it doesnt hve to just be striper fishing, any type of fish tht will give u a REAL GOOD FIGHT!!
I don’t know about bighead or silver carp, but common carp (out of reasonably clean water) are perfectly good to eat, even delicious. There is a prejudice/misconception in some circles that carp are either inedible or bad tasting. I’d guess that most who claim this have never tried it.
I believe it is a White Amur, a type of Asian carp that is put into canals to eat grass and weeds to keep the water moving smoothly. I used to catch them in the canals in Phoenix and they are fun. I never had one to eat tho.
+matt cloo You are right and they've caused a huge amount of damage to our native species and continue to do so. Despite large amounts of resources put into wiping it out , it continues to spread and increase it's range. It might be "fun" to some but it's a major disaster to America's rivers?
I fish nearly 4 or 5 times a week from about may till October. I once caught a 5# bass still hooked to a pink Barbie fishing rod. Another time I hooked up on a friggin musk rat, he didn't eat the bait,he was snagged. Luckily for him the hook straightened out a little bit and came loose.
Might be one of those nuclear submarines. Of course they are catch and release also. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Be sure and tell the Camera man even though she is totally camera shy :-), we appreciate her also.
hey Douglas how are u those are some fun fish to catch I'm from Missouri right off the Mississippi river and we catch a lot of those and come to find out those Asian carp are great cut bait too thanks for the video have u tried them for cut bait yet
I accidentally snagged a 40lb asian carp while casting jigs. Right behind the dorsal fin. Using an Abu 6500C3 with 20lb mono, he would've absolutely spooled me, I had to use my thumb to stop the spool as I was down to just a few wraps of line left. Couldnt believe I brought it in. Definitely the hardest fight Ive ever had. In the Kansas(aka Kaw) River in Lawrence, KS.

Luke of cats and carp! You two are my favorate!
It's a "Big head Carp". Love this channel. If you can't go fishing the next best thing is to watch somebody fish.
thanks for dropping by Michael
Michael Taylor same
i agree michael , youtube great for that.
Michael Taylor spoiler alert
Michael Taylor that looks like a Grass carp but I don't see any scales unless they're more smaller.
Thanks for showing all ur fishing ways and showing best products to us. Ur a respectable person so calm u take things and show us all with nothing good manner and great attitude. Be nice someday I get go fish with u were we stay there nothing but small channel cat

That's an experienced fisherman; bringing in a 40Ib Carp on that flimsy looking rod. Great job
Looks like a good fish to catch and have fun with Thanks a bunch
Two of my favorite fishermen having a blast.
Ok, nevermind. Found it. Love fishing below that dam. Caught more fish there, than anywhere else. From the mid 80s into the 90s, my dad ran a bait store right down the road from Barkley Dam. Now its just a memory, nothing left of the store

Awesome fight, looks like fun! We catch allot of big drum around here and they are fun also. Thanks for the video.

Carp. A love/hate relationship. Love the fight of catching them, but hate catching them. lol
Nice video guys! Carp are some of the most fun fish too catch in FW. Nothing runs like they do in FW when you hook up with them.

Freshwater drum do the same thing and when you get them close to the bank they make a sharp turn to the left or right.
Wow, that was a really big fish!!!! Sry 4 the other guys loss. Tyfs, God bless you
Man, that was a big fish!
Sometimes my sons and I take a can of sweet corn and go after carp. Very fun to catch. See ya at the Catfish Conference.
see ya there Mike

thanks contree man
Nice video! That thing was a monster!!!
Two of my favorite guys.
I caught a grass carp at my local golf course. It was every bit of 40lbs and I fought it for along time. Best fighting fish I've ever caught!!!!
Ooo yap, that's a nice big catch I wish i have that dude in my kitchen..
My uncle always said the best way to prepare carp is to fry it up, serve it on a paper plate, throw away the carp and eat the plate. They do run hard.
My Dad said the same thing to me 45 years ago n many more times
Marceline Ingot hahaha
I agree with Marceline
To many bones on this fish, lacking the taste.
Id rather catch freshwater drum.
I love freshwater fishing.
Fights like a red drum . Strong fish
I’m sure Mr. Steve has done a video, but Asian carp swim bladder is great catfish bait
I love catching carp, the fastest longest running fish alive. I accidentally caught a 25 pound grass carp from my pond, and it was the hardest fight I ever had. Even a 1 foot grass carp will put up a better fight than a river smallmouth the same size.

nice video..always great to see big fish being caught !!! there are 2 fish i want to catch ..golden carado and peacock bass
I agree. Lots of fun to catch ... Though I'm not keen on their taste.
hooking a 20 pounder in the side in high current while fishing right below the dam is a freaking workout.
those things sure are fighters! looks like fun!
hard fighters Kris, you will have to try it sometime
Join us Kris.....Join us....... : )
Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude
What kind of fish is it?
muddyrivercatfishing Asian Carp
The best recipe for carp!

Nail the carp to the wood, and throw it into the open flames.

Awesome catch as always. :o)))
Huge carp! Great video
thank you it was a blast to make
we have alot carps like this in summer every year thanks for your video i was think they are never eating any bait
Excellent video!
Lucky bastards lol!! I love fishing, ive been fishing since i was 5! To be honest, it kinda saved my ass. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, nd once i caught my first striper. Awesome video
That fish you steamed it whole with ginger and garlic! Healthy and tasty I tell ya..
"Freshwater Bull Redfish" 🎣😃👍🏻
what you needed was a rod that we use on the west coast of Canada. That did look like a tom of fun
I believe it is a White Amur, a type of Asian carp that is put into canals to eat grass and weeds to keep the water moving smoothly. I used to catch them in the canals in Phoenix and they are fun. I never had one to eat tho.

It might be "fun" to some but it's a major disaster to America's rivers?
matt cloo White amur (or grass carp) is a different fish to the ones that are causing the problems. Those are the Asian bighead/silver carp.
That's a big Sum Buck !
Cool video
I fish nearly 4 or 5 times a week from about may till October. I once caught a 5# bass still hooked to a pink Barbie fishing rod. Another time I hooked up on a friggin musk rat, he didn't eat the bait,he was snagged. Luckily for him the hook straightened out a little bit and came loose.
Carp is what my granny use to call poor mans salmon. She boiled the meat and used it to make Salmon cakes and they are incredibly good.
wow just found your channel looks like i got alot of watching to do!
thanks we hope you like.
That's a nice game big guys. I wish to be with though
But Pound for Pound, the Bluegill is the biggest fighter there is here. Imagine a Bluegill that size! Wow!
holy lord, good catch!
Those 30+ pounders are strong with the fishy. The 10 pounders are perfect
yeah pound for pound, carp fight as good as any fish. they are a blast to catch and if you know how to clean them, very good to eat
"Hurr durr doesn't fight as hard as whatever fish I catch"
Big grass carp come with a hard fight as well!
ive caught a few of those as well, good fighter for sure
They are fun to catch on pull
carp are one of the best fighting fish I have ever caught.
looks like you're using a heavy line there. maybe 60lb or greater. looks like fun at the river
Might be one of those nuclear submarines. Of course they are catch and release also. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Be sure and tell the Camera man even though she is totally camera shy :-), we appreciate her also.
will do Tom, thanks for stopping by to watch our videos
I can tell the voice of LUKE any time hahahahah carp man
Good stuff man!
thanks
Big 14lb bluefish aka "line slider" will give you one hell of a ride!!
I would like confirmation of where you was at? The lock wall is very familiar.
hey Douglas how are u those are some fun fish to catch I'm from Missouri right off the Mississippi river and we catch a lot of those and come to find out those Asian carp are great cut bait too thanks for the video have u tried them for cut bait yet
Darius Marsh They make great for cutbait for me. It is my preferred bait for big blues.
yeap its good bait too
Darius Marsh yeap, they make great cut bait.
There are some huge fish below Barkley Dam. Your really feel helpless when a fish bends your rod totally over and spools off all your line!
Good times for sure....
thanks
Well that's one good fishing pole
nice catch
I go to the East Pier out there and snag for them. If you find them schooled up, you can literally hit one every single cast
good job Steve they will plum wear you out
I accidentally snagged a 40lb asian carp while casting jigs. Right behind the dorsal fin. Using an Abu 6500C3 with 20lb mono, he would've absolutely spooled me, I had to use my thumb to stop the spool as I was down to just a few wraps of line left. Couldnt believe I brought it in. I aint prejudice when it comes to something big pullin on the end of my fishin rod.i'm in.havent caught a carp yet.maybe someday.
Well done wow
Exciting video. Thank you. Where was this? Kentucky dam? Was this on the lake side or the river side?
That boat is interesting
