@@brittreacts Don't you just love it when a Song causes us to show emotions? A good song worth reacting to if you havent yet seen the video. Country story that drags you along for the emotion evoking, lump in your throat creating, you are gonna tear up, then you're gonna cry, nothing you can do about it type song. Emotions run high with Concrete Angels especially for anyone with children, the emotions will have you wanting to give them a hug, while theyre wondering why youre crying.. If a person has no emotional reaction to that song, they must be dead or a totally uncaring person who is dead inside. I'll be back checking out more of your content. Peace.
I went into this reaction knowing how much it would hurt. My wife and I lost our daughter 3 years ago, she was 16. She had been born with sever disabilities, but she was our baby. I know the pain of begging God to let someone live, taking you instead...I prayed for it many nights.
At the end of the music video you'll realize that Johnny Sr is taking Johnny Jr fishing while the mother is in the background watching their little daughter running with her little fishing pole. So the mother survived.
The music video gave it a happy ending also this is the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon It was hosted every year by the comedian Jerry Lewis,It was 24 hours every Labor Day he would stay awake the whole time and would raise millions!
MDA is the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They have been around since the 50's helping fund research, treatments and care for folks with various muscular diseases. Great reaction!
My brother and I used to sing this song to our girlfriends growing up. We dated sisters and eventually married sisters, that being said, some time ago my brother worked for Target on the graveyard shift. He fell from their 20 foot ladders and struck the ground head first. When we got to the hospital and I saw all of those lines and hoses attached to him I blacked out and hit my knees. The people in the room said I said the last verse as I was praying to God. Two weeks later, he was out of the hospital. He has no sense of smell or taste, but it is better than not having him in this world.
Britt, in your last George Strait reaction, the female voice you loved was Tim’s wife, Faith Hill. You really have to witness Tim and Faith’s music together (Married in 1996, after touring together on a Strait Tour). Their love is beautiful! Highly recommend - How You Speak to a Girl
In 1993-1994 I was an exchange student from Finland in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. I've had this song with me ever since. It captures the essence of country love songs. And yes, it does make me cry.
I must have heard this song a thousand times but I still get actual CHILLS every time he says "Johny hit his knees"😭 And yes, nothing tells a story through song like Country music. It goes back to the roots of country being in folk singers.
The MDA Telethon has been going for over 50 years. It is for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Mr. JERRY LEWIS used to have it LIVE for 48 hours on tv. His dedication was insurmountable.
Had to watch your reaction. This song is one that hits far too close to home. I listened to this song on the way to the hospital to give birth to my youngest, on 9/11/2001 of all days, and the events unfolded just like that last verse. I was fading fastly from bleeding internally and was rushed in for an emergency c-section. Drs gave me about a 40% chance to make it. Thankfully I pulled through and that sweet boy turns 22 this 9/11.
I was in Tucson the day Gabby Giffords was shot. One of the saddest stories is one of the girls that was killed was also born on 9/11/2001. Her mother had so hoped her daughter would do great things with her auspicious beginnings. I still get bummed out by this horrific deed. I am, however, so glad your son is doing well!
I lost my first wife when she was 25 years old. This song hits my heart like a stick of dynamite. I’ll never be afraid to shed tears for this beautiful melody. I pleaded to the gods not to take her but they gave me no choice in the matter. No one should have to experience such a loss even in a song.
If I recall he did interview years after songs release and asked about the songs ending. He said I guess it depends on outlook on life. Positive or is it negative. But in his mind obviously she lived....You probably can google it and find his answer.
Country is so good at story telling. It draws you in and makes you feel what the singer is saying. And it’s relatable. I can’t even count the tears I’ve cried listening to country songs.
I'm honestly not the biggest fan of country music in general, but occasionally there comes a song that is honest in its story telling and pulls your heart right out of your chest. This is one of those songs.
You really should react to more official videos if possible. The imagery can help to get the meaning of the song. Tim McGraw is so great as a singer and songwriter. He's someone you need to do a deep dive on. His wife Faith Hill is someone else you need to check out.
That is why country music is my favorite especially the older country music . They always tell you a story and sometimes they are true and can always bring you so many different emotions . Also congratulations on 70 k !!
I saw Tim live in concert years ago when this song was fresh and new. Before he started this song, there was a little girl in the audience, probably around 8 or so, and he brought her up on stage. And dang this song all while holding her hand and on one knee. There was not a dry eye on the place. It was definitely a beautiful experience.
He ends it as he started except this Johnny is junior. His prayer was answered. Tim's dad was baseball player Tug McGraw who died of brain cancer at the age of 59 and was the inspiration for Tim's song Live Like You Were Dying.
He has wonderful duets with his wife, Faith Hill. There’s one of them singing in a theatre or something- she’s heavily pregnant. Can’t remember the song’s name, but it is amazingly romantic.❤
I love songs that tell a story and I think country music does it best. I love when they take a line and use it differently like 3-4 times as they are telling a story. "Don't take the girl" The song leaves it up in the air whether she makes it or not. I like to think she survives because in the music video she does.
If you don't get emotional from hearing this song you aren't really listening. Tim McGraw is my favorite country artist and that's part of why. His ability to make you feel exactly how the song really should make you feel while just singing the song in his way is so amazing. From note one this song makes me choke up a little...even tho I have known it since I was a teenager! Yes, humble and Kind, " Down on the Farm", I Like I Love It, "Highway Don't Care" (w/ Keith Urban and Taylor Swift) and "Everybody's Lookin for Somethin'" All good Choices. He's a great Balladeer but he can sing anything. Serious Panty Droppin ability (Real Good Man/The Ride)...He's been around since I was in like 8th grade (and a little bit before so there's lots of his work to get thru..he has like 16 or 17 albums now I think.)
oh man that is a sad song but such a good song. I also would love to see her react to what hurts the most by rascal flatts and skin also by rascal flatts. alyssa lies by jason michael carroll is also a must listen to. God bless the broken road and Why which also are rascall flatts songs too
This is one of my favorite songs.. I don't sing much but I've been known to do this one at karaoke nights, lol. It's just so special and emotional and shows the progression of life and how we all change our perspectives about things as we mature. Thanks for reacting to it. This one was nice but the official song sounds just a little bit cleaner.
I really enjoyed your reaction. Bought me back to hearing this song for the first time back in the day and felt the same feelings... chill bumps and sadness. I have no children, but this song brings real feelers, even after hearing it hundreds of times, and live 2x. Thank you as always, Britt! 🤠🫶
You have said it best. My children listen to all genres of music, and I'll take credit for it. They've been thankful ever since. Watch the video, it has a happier ending.
Love what you do. Recommended Kathy Matteo "Where have you been" as a great example of story telling. Also, Tom Jones performing "Kiss". Yes the Prince classic. Very fun.
I absolutely love watching you experience the songs, that I've loved for years and seeing you respond anew, it makes me think, of the first time I heard it 20 years ago! ... and NO, there is no other genre of music, that people tell such beautiful stories and MAKE you emote with them, when they sing them! The majority of people, who are new to Country music, react much the same! I'm always amazed, at how strongly they react to them and then walk away, with a completely different outlook on country music!
Jerry Lewis used to host the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) telethon every year on Labor Day weekend. It was our last weekend of summer and then school would be back in session. It was a last hoorah for us to stay up all night before starting school and the whole bedtime routine. So many great performers appeared on this show.

Live Like You We’re Dying is a great one. Tim is my favorite country singer by far
That's the "danger" of country music. Most tells a story. And it will make you feel great or pull your heart out. Lyrics have power.
The official video gives the visuals to the story. At the end of the song it shows the mom going fishing with them.
From "girls got cooties" to "I'll give my life for her" in just a few minutes.
I love that about the song. He takes the same words "don't take the girl" and uses it in 2 completely different ways. Same words. Different meaning.
Country music is the only genre that I know of that can tell stories that everyone can relate too. They are just simple stories about life.
