Whenever I see/think/or hear of bonsai, can't help not to remember our late neighbour---a strict old man who was so into bonsai. Whenever my mom and I would pass by his house and chance upon him tending his garden, we would tease him about giving one to us. Years later, he passed on and all his magnificent bonsai plants withered gradually as his family didn't share his hobby. Anyway, I had last been to a bonsai expo sometime in 2013 and the only bonsai plant we have is a bonsai bougainvillea. :)) Thanks, Erika, for taking us to this lovely LA houseplant tour.
Oooh I’m definitely going to have to go to Santa Monica. I liked that little curly cactus, I really liked the one behind it with the long stem and prickly stems like a flower. I’m more into interesting plants instead of the run of the mill everyday succulents and cacti you get at the big box stores. I want cool and interesting 🤔. OMG 😳 you should have picked up the variegated Aspidistra. I love a Var. cast iron plant, you can’t kill them, they are usually pretty pricey. 😂 Happy Planting 💜🌺🌸
I agree! Looking at the cacti & succulents in nurseries is soo much fun, I love looking at all the different shapes & colors. I have to restrict myself from buying too many plants, I can go a lil crazy sometimes 😅
I really can't believe you went to look at bonsai nursery they looked amazing. I did a count of plants and trees I have and I have 94 plants and trees, lol. If you ever decide to start a bonsai maby start with a pre bonsai tree that has no work done to it. It really is a great experience training a tree. A good starter plant is a ficus of just about any kind, or a conifer like a juniper. Anyway enough gushing, a great plant tour as always and a fantastic video, keep up the great work you're doing amazing. Have a good one.
@@ErikaLodes yeah I was, and it is a lot to be honest I want more, lol. I found a person that start desert roses, I am getting a white one and hopefully a red one.
Somedayy I would love a little maple bonsai because they actually turn red/orange/yellow in the fall~ I live in the desert with just Joshua “trees” so I miss seeing trees change for the fall 😩 I also want a cherry blossom bonsai cause they grow teenie blossoms and widdle cherries that you can pick and eat. I also love juniper bonsais but specifically one with deadwood 🤣 I’ve been watching “Nigel Saunders, the bonsai zone” and “Herons bonsai”. The upkeep of a tree is a lot and I don’t think I can handle it myself but it’s so relaxing to watch them 💚
OMG... those bonsai were stunning! I particularly like the giant evergreens. I love the houseplants but it was a nice change, seeing those plants, something different 🙂 If you come across calathea in one of your visits, would you mind showing some of the prices, particularly the smaller plants? I'm starting to become more interested in them. I'd really appreciate it 🙂🙂
OMG I just got a Peperomia Pixie today for 2.48$! It's in a nursery pot inside a cute little gnome cashpo I just couldn't pass it up! I didn't know what type of Peperomia it was exactly so thank for this!
