My grandfather grew cherries he used a couple of tin pie pan and tied them to each tree then place a fan outside to make them hit the pie pans that will keep the birds away from your trees till you pick your cherries.
I love watching you and your mother working together canning and making syrup . That’s how I learned to to can was with my mother and grandmother. We call the raspberry roll a jelly roll and you can use so many different fillings in them. I love making them at thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hi! All the berries and cherries look so yummy! So cool making your own jam and preserves. The small pears, look them up to see if they are called Seckel Pears. If so, they are really good in preserves. My Grandmom made it. It was brown like apple or peach butter (from using brown sugar) and she would put walnuts in it. It was delicious. I will try to find the recipe from my mom or aunts if it sounds interesting to you. Everyone used to ask her over and over to make it.

How much does a 5 pound bag of granulated sugar cost where you are? Here in south Louisiana it’s $1.99usd I got that size bag for $1.77 this last weekend on special.
It feels really good to make prue homeade preserves. Of any kind. I think the brain knows it is doing something that is healthy in the form of natural not fabricaded food. It is natural. The amount of sugar dont make it so healhty. But in these days we dont get that kind of pure food. A bit difficult to explain. I hope you understand what I mean. I made redcurrent gelo but not for dessert. The is a lot of pectin in redcurrants (as long it is not unripe or to ripe) this makes it become gelo without adding anything. Your jam sugar have some starch in it I think. I have never heard of that. You cook the redcurrants ans normal, strain them and then are left with just the juice. Well of course boil them with sugar. Then it is ready to put in glasses. This gelo is completely see trough. You can use it like dessert but we use it with dinnerfood. Like meatballs with potatoes and brown gravy. Brown gravy i am not sure you do there. flor and butter in a pan til it become slightely burned. that is a slight tan colour on it. It do not taste burned, but get it own flavour. The add water, and buljon /fondant with prefered flavour, veggies or meat. cook intil smooth. This is a very traditional food type in Norway and they have it in sweden also. The meatbals in Ikea have this kind of sauce that have a bit of wippingcreammilk in it. Making it more full and luxurious. Anyways this kind of gelo makes food with this kind of sauce very good. just a little dollop on the side is needed. Not stirred in. As a tiny side dish. :)

your sheet cake was almost perfect, dont leave it in the oven too long, and roll it while hot and let it sit till its cooler. But I love roll cakes

Jam sugar contains pectine but no starch. Starch causes problems in canning.
