I was looking for an optimization video for Far Cry 6 from Hardware Unboxed as they've done some great videos on optimization with other games. They haven't made one on Far Cry 6 though, so I found yours. Very close to being just as good as theirs. Good job.
Wow. Those are really insane shoes to be compared to! Thank you very much for the appreciation Brian. I'm just doing what I myself am doing when I'm fiddling the settings on my own. Haha.
Thank you again for making my day!
Thanks man! This is the only good optimization guide i've been able to find for this game. I hate the ones from people that either clearly haven't tested many setups, don't apparently care about ugly graphics, or simply have no idea what they're talking about. Fantastic job! Subbed and hit the bell!
thank you very much brother! really glad I could help you out
Same here 👍
man this is amazing. very informative and helpful
Thank you for this detailed "Digital Foundry style" optimization guide! Helped me a lot! :)
really well made and articulate video, good job
thank you Shoopy!
very nice video, please more Optimization Guides :) thanks
I made a boo-boo at 8:24. Label should be interchanged.

Tell me what is your experience with this game? Did you notice the flickering vegetation?
i was already using high preset but this vid helped a bit. nice one, thanks
Thanks for the great layout of this video.
you're welcome man!
Very nice guide! Keep on, mate!
Nice video ,keep it up!
Thanks, it helped mi a lot ! You can also disable uplay overlay guys for the better performance !
Great job, dude.
thank you brother
Excellent video.
Sorry for the delay on the next video but Call of Duty Vanguard is coming guys. It's got a loooong list of graphics settings that's why I'm taking my time diving deep into the rationale of its graphics. I promise it would be worth your while guys.
I'm using the same settings but I did bump up vegetation. It helps with immersion when flying or at very high lookout locations. 3800x 1080ti
yes. the performance benefit on that setting is justifiable to have the maximum setting selected.
Great job pall !!! You just save me at least hour !! Thanks !!
my pleasure my dude!
The main problem I have is that FSR won't stay on from session to session. I always have to go back into settings on launch and re-enable it. The frame rate limit setting is wonky too. It stays set but the game reverts to the default sometimes after cut scenes.
Same issue with me, won't stay on.... Using Nvidia here
Anybody else getting an issue where when you change settings it shows an asterisk but it won't actually change anything even after you restart game?
Great video! Do you have Fidilityfx CAS?
yes! but I prefer to have a smooth look than a sharp aliased one. I still switch between on and off from time to time.
You deserve more subscriber bro. Thx.
thank you Adi!
Nice information - thanks. But what resolution are you using? 1440 or 1080 ?
it's 1440p
@@MrSiloterio Tanks mate
Thanks for your video, after watched your video then I realised why abit blurry because of the HD texture setting I set it to ultra
you're welcome Kenny!
Lemme guess;using ultra in geometry and vegetation is broken ,kinda buggy pixelated draw distance and trees...Should use high instead ...any regards on this is highly appreciated..thank you..😊
would love to have a deathloop optimization video

Hey! What I'm facing is that in this game... In some areas I get like 55fps and at some places it's above 80 and the difference is quite noticeable to is there a way to have stable fps in all places of game??
that's a good observation. what areas are the FPS drops showing in? Is it during dense areas with lots of buildings, NPCs, and environment props? Monitor your GPU usage during those fps drops.
If GPU usage is still fully utilized at 99 percent during those drops, that means you're GPU bottlenecked, if on the other hand, your GPU usage drops drastically along with the framerate, then it is most likely a CPU-related issue.
@@MrSiloterio my fps mostly drops while either I'm driving at full speed or I'm in a camp like carlos camp (you know if you played it) and my gpu usage is 85-95% mostly however I don't expect bottleneck cuz I've got a ryzen 7 5800h (8 cores 16 threads processor) + rtx 3060 so I don't think it'll bottleneck it plus the temps are normal as well while playing
@@dynamicmaestro5556 I looked at footage with the same laptop specs as yours and the performance statistics are also showing huge GPU usage drops when moving and in camps.
In that context, I would say it is indeed a case of bottlenecking since that's what the statistics report. The only case where that can not be the case is if the rest of PC users are also reporting the same behavior.
In my case however, and other people with similar specs on a desktop PC, the game runs pretty flawless. So that issue might have something to do with the single-threaded performance of the 5800h. Based on benchmarks, for a laptop CPU it's actually pretty good.
My advice is for you to use the lowest value for geometry and vegetation first in order to test if your GPU usage will rise near 99 percent. That setting is a heavily CPU-dependent one so if it improves your GPU usage behavior, then it is a CPU bottleneck. If it still remains the same without any slight improvements, then the issue lies elsewhere.
But before we can say what's going on for sure, we're going to eliminate the possible causes first.
@@MrSiloterio yeah I'll try it with lowest preset and will update the performance stats...thanks for your time great work 👍
@@dynamicmaestro5556 sure thing my man. I'd always be glad to help. Take note that graphics options have different degrees of dependency on GPU or CPU.
Here is the breakdown for Far Cry 6 (At least based on my testing):
Texture Filtering: GPU-dependent
Shadows: GPU-dependent
Geometry and Vege: CPU-dependent
Environment: Possibly both (because of distance lighting detail)
Water: Possibly both (because of SSR that calculates rendered elements on-screen_
Terrain: GPU-dependent
Volumetric fog: GPU-dependent
HD Textures: Don't bother for FarCry 6 but for other games, textures are dependent on VRAM than GPU horsepower
AA: GPU-dependent
Motion blur: GPU-dependent
FSR: GPU will thank you
Don't forget to update me alright? I'm not an expert but willing to help.
I like that in a video about Far Cry 6 you used music from Far Cry 3 :) Nostalgic ?
heeey! glad you recognized it. Yeah, I was not actually a fan of the electronic music in fc3 but it had memorable music for me.
@@MrSiloterio Recognized ? Im a huge FC3 fan , that game is the reason i became a gamer :D
@@ionutzescu_ that's awesome to know man!
I can't find where to download hd textures. I saw how to do it online but for some reason ubisoft having connection issues so I can't download it.
it should be asking you before installing the game using ubisoft connect. or maybe they just removed it since it's buggy. I'm not entirely sure.
Would have loved to see médium settings and how's the performance gain
Unfortunately, medium to me wasn't really worth it considering the really small perfomance gain versus the visual sacrifice.
@@MrSiloterio okay, thanks for the reply
Guys my gun textures are not loading in at all, like they look like they are from ps2 and they are blurry, I have reinstalled the game , turned off hd and turned on and turned off again but it does not work at all, please recommend a fix
Have you tried installing without the HD textures at all?
@@MrSiloterio yes the first time around I installed it without the hd textures and still had the problem
@@cbschinsharma6947 hmmm. how much gpu vram do you have and how much are you consuming while playing?
4gb vram and I am using 3.97 on ultra preset with shadows on low and enviroment and terrain on high
Check your vram usage in riva tuner. If you are going to reach 80-85% of your vram thats whats going to happen. On my 3080 in 4k all maxed dxr off game says its using 5,2gb while riva tuner shows 7,5 (around). Whole thing with loading textures in this game is horrible. Best way to check settings is to look at vram usage and mess with your settings and just fast travel between locations to see how much vram u can use. When you notice that textures are messy on wespons, on croc or in menu on your character you will know that you went too far. Thas how i figured out that on 3080 issues are starting above 8gb usage so around 80% of your vram. Hd textures pavknis for gpus with more than 11gb vram... Again, dont look at vram usage in game, its just not right. Also turn off overlay and all notifications from ubisoft and run game after restart on standard nvidia panel settings. In my case from some reason clean driver instalation fixed things a bit. Im hoping this whole vram usage meter aswell as optimization to be fixed in future patches. 11gb for hd pack thats a bit lazy, there is nothing in this game that can justify that…
Hi everybody. If someone coul help me please ... I got geforce aorus rtx 3060 12gb... And it annoys me that all the time i PICK UP A SOURCE (gasolina, metal, bags, etc....) The game makes me lag/stutter. Anyone having the same issue? Please help me to fix it . Thanx
Thx :) Any chance for AC Valhalla OG from you?
I was thinking about that too. But I gues it's too old for me to make another optimization video and there are other videos out there that does the job. But if a lot of people would ask for it, sure I would create one for valhalla!
@@MrSiloterioI vote for Valhalla
I just bought far cry 6 for $16 during sale lol can't wait to test it out on my gtx 1070 ryzen 2600, hoping to get 60+fps with high-ultra settings 1080p :D
Hey, i want to ask you guys. So, i got myself 1070 gtx, and 16 gb of ram. And about a week ago i bought myself far cry 6. And when i start the game, i only got 30-35 fps even on low settings. I tried to use nvidia control panel but it didn't work. Can you guys help?
Ps = the frame is also locked on 60 when in menu, I did not turn on v sync.
how much is your GPU usage?
@@MrSiloterio idk, lemme check it. Thank you.

Damn I love you bro haha.
love you too brother. are you playing Call of Duty Vanguard? I'm making an optimization guide for that one.
I have an i9-9900k oc to 4.9 stable with a 3080 12gb and 32gb of ram and the game is on an nvme and I’m getting screen tearing and 50-60 fps. Followed the video to the tea and it didn’t really help I’m sad.
Do you have low gpu usage while playing?
@@MrSiloterio not that I could notice it was at 99%, I am going to uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps
@@StockyGore okay. try this out if it helps: wccftech.com/heres-how-you-can-enable-resizable-bar-support-in-any-game-via-nvidia-inspector/amp/
@@MrSiloterio so reinstalled kinda helped but still getting screen tearing and with DXR shadows and DCR reflections I get low 50s fps. I will look into the link thanks. So far only 5.12/11.83gb of vram being used for the game
@@MrSiloterio okay so that seemed to work! Thank you so much I almost gave up on the game cause it was unplayable, now I’m getting mid 70s low 80s with DXR both off when enabled it’s mid 60s which isn’t too bad but I have it off for now. Thanks again for the help I really appreciate it and I subbed too
I am glad my pc runs 60 fps on max settings (ultra settings)
dont use TAA, use Fidelity CAS
bro my gpu usage is 40 or 50 % i tried everything but i get 50% gpu usage only
what's your cpu?
@@MrSiloterio i7 3770k,, in red dead 2 i get 60 fps with ultra and mostly high settings and gpu usage 99%... In far cry 6 m facing this. Reinstalled window and all... Did everything but no luck
@@shankyfranky4 yes. that's because Red Dead 2 is more limited by your GPU than CPU. Ubisoft's open world games are mainly cpu-driven and relies more on single core performance than other titles.
You can test this out by looking at your gpu usage when using max settings versus the lowest settings. What is your GPU usage when using Max settings and the lowest settings?
@@MrSiloterio right now m getting 46% gpu usage and 43% cpu usage at ultra settings and getting 56 fps at lowesr setting m getting 65 fps 42%gpu usage
@@shankyfranky4 I suspect this is because of the single core performance of your i7. Are there other games that also report this gpu usage issue?
1440p I presume?
yes. this is at 1440p.
@@MrSiloterio Should i bother with FSR at 1080P?
@@gnomekingclive that really depends on your preference. Do you value super high framerates over clean visuals? If you aren't sensitive to artifacts introduced in FSR, go ahead and use it. As long as you're enjoying the game, that's what matters the most.
I myself don't use FSR for my personal sessions because I don't find it necessary anymore. But I am still impressed by the tech and the benefits it brings.
@@gnomekingclivethe lower resolution the worse quality of FSR. It's pretty great at 4K, pretty decent at 1440p and rather meh at 1080p. Also should be worth noting, if you're CPU bound - FSR will not boost your fps as resolution taxing the GPU.
My trees quality looks pretty bad
