I installed crt royale via the reshape installer and it looks nice and works but the only problem is that there is a red line running down the middle of my screen. Anyway to remove it? The rest of the screen looks fine with the crt shader on but that red line down the middle is annoyingly distracting. Or is it part of the crt reshade?

There is an even better shader called Sony Megatron which is based on CRT Royale but uses HDR or SDR with 600+ nits brightness to frankly give the most realistic looking CRT I ever seen. I own a CRT monitor and a TV, and while CRT royale does come extremely close, i honestly had a hard time distinguishing the Sony Megatron shader. My CRTs are getting very dim though and replacing the gun on these is extremely dangerous work without the correct equipment. The only thing my QLED with the shader cannot do is the perfect motion resolution. But honestly its really exciting we can emulate THIS much of it. In fact, someone actually made a real scanline emulation that does line scanning, requires like 400+Hz though just to display 30Hz LOL

I'm all about CRT shaders & I find my preferred experience changes quite a lot depending on the graphical style of game I'm playing & probably would depend on what display I'm using too. For CRT Royale, I understand the appeal for 2D arcade emulation, however I've found its emulation of the RGB pixel layout too distracting as neither my LCD monitor or QLED TV does a good job of reproducing the phosphor glow of a true CRT's subpixels. I might have a different experience on an OLED though. What I do instead is make use of the GTU shader to emulate an analog resolution signal - this effectively applies a blur sufficient to make each pixel indistinct similar to how it would on a classic CRT display, as well as to tweak the contrast & black levels - I then overlay another shader - usually Geom or Lottes - to apply a dotmask overlay, but allowing the mixed colours to combine with the RGB subpixels in a more subtle way - as the way it breaks up each individual pixel to give the impression of more detail is more important than its splitting of the visual spectrum in the impression it gives to me. I also run the underlying graphics at 2x or 3x the 'native' resolution of course - as effectively super-sampling the image with the CRT presentation truly is the best of both worlds. For the PS2-era GTA & Prince of Persia games, & most 90s era PC games, it's non-negotiable. I have to play it like this. I also find it still looks quite good with an emulated resolution up to around 1240x960 & with a little additional shader tweaking like a debanding filter, a pixel-doubling can still generally look OK for UI elements - however above this, the game assets 'really' don't hold up well at all.

Just wondering how in the hell you got this to work, is it even possible to downsample on XBox Series X with Duckstation stand alone?! Iv tried almost everything but cant seem to get this to work. Anyone else have this issue? Or could it be this is purely for PC?

I don't like the look of downsampling. If you like texture filtering for a smoother look, you can turn that on.

yea when i changed the settings according to yours it helped but i still have frame rate drops at Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior, Groznyj Grad Sewers, the 2 bike chase on the airport runway, Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge (sniping), 2 Bike chases at the end, and The Boss final duel, does any one else have fixes around these places?

Just as an FYI I made a performance mod that doesn't decrease visual fidelity called "Optimal Performance" I recommend pairing it with these settings, it's free FPS.

I think that this is a good guide. It enlightened me a little bit. I have a 5-year-old PC 😁My specifications are an AMD Threadripper 1950X combined with Titan RTX. My graphics settings differ from yours. I'm gaming on Ultrawide 1440p. I was changing the settings to High from Ultra and I did notice a difference. Went back to Ultra, RTAO, DLSS balanced and is this game beautiful. I get an occasional stuttering but that's because of the CPU switching the frequency. This is its native behavior unless I overclock, it's stable without speed variation. But I'm not doing that. Anyhow, I'm stunned that my PC after these years is still performing at the highest possible level. Now, I'm curious about turning on MSi Afterburn and RivaTurner to actually see my FPS.

as expect works even worse with your config, but i managed to finally optimize the game, what i did was downloading latest win7 emu from official site and fitgirl repack dark phantom edition, copied config from that repack to my new emu and also installed rom from that repack, and now its finally playable for me, hope this help anyone with the same problem

yeah i can already see that it wont work for me since im on win7 i5-7500 4x 3.4 and he didnt even set Maximum number of spur threads to 3/2 , so i guess searching continues -.- still interesting vid, and i will experiments with ur mods, hoping i find the fix soon :|

my game is stretched vertically a bit do you have a fix im using a 2k resolution monitor, i had used 1080p monitor with the game before and it never looked a little stretched.
