Jamming With The Toraiz Squid Multitrack Sequencer

At Knobcon 2019, we caught up with Pioneer DJ's Devon Hughes, who jamming with a hardware setup, based around their Squid multitrack sequencer.
He gave us a quick overview of the Squid and what it can do.

I’ve had the Squid for MONTH’s but never hooked a Drum Machine to it. TRIED last night and went absolutely INSANE
PLEASE do a video that shows step by step how to use 8 or 12 tracks of the Squid to Control 8 or 12 Drums in a drum machine. Was up till the wee hours last night and had a hard time. I’m using an Uno Drum, i then tried using Drums in Logic Pro X thinking ok maybe the Uno is the issue.
Is there even a way to force a track to play just the kick drum without having to manually go in and change each pad to a kick besides recording in just me playing that kick? I’d like to be able to use the randomizer for drums too.

I was just notified that Pioneer team is working on the next Squid firmware update!

Any firmware updates? Just a couple of key items holding back its true potential - so frustrating with closed source systems that the community don't have any option to move it forward when abandoned.

Why is the Squid a cheap plastic piece of crap compared to the SP-16?

Hey Acid Techno Man, I'm a fellow acid techno man going back to 1998! : ) First purchase was Sarcoflaps on Routemaster Records! I can answer most questions you have about Squid and Toraiz. Toraiz is a sub-brand developed by Pioneer to combine Pioneer's on-stage performance interface simplicity and quality build to a more production-oriented customer. The Squid may be "light in the hands" but that's not because of "cheap plastic"...It's because it doesn't have a touch screen, audio i/o nor any sound generator inside. It doesn't need to be heavy, just durable, which it is ; )

@@devonhughes3805 Yeah it would have been nice to be metal like the SP16 to match. I would have paid more money.
