I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
Social security benefits for seniors are an essential safety net for many, but it's also crucial to plan ahead and invest wisely for your retirement. Diversifying your investments across can help build wealth over time. It's never too early to start saving and investing for a comfortable retirement. I’m 63 and my husband 65 we are both retired with over $3 million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. Saving and investing lifestyle made it possible for us this early even till now we earn monthly through passive income.
Alright phyllis, speaking in general terms, investing requires a good amount of knowledge. That's why it's essential to have a solid support system like a financial counselor, especially when picking out assets. I've been working with Regina Louise Collaro, who is an investment advisor at a registered wealth management company. I can't recommend her enough; my financial journey has been fantastic thanks to her. She's quite well-known for her services, and she helped me achieve financial stability through investments. Now, I benefit from her passive income strategies every month. So, I'd strongly suggest finding a reliable investment advisor for yourself😊
Regina Louise Collaro is based in the United States and can work with anybody wherever they stay. If you would like more information about her, you can conduct a search online.
personally, I'm blessed and realizing I'm not the only one working with Regina Louise Collaro. I will consider myself lucky. I've been able to feed and make a living through her advice and great work. For such a person as Regina, I owe her gratitude, support and endless prayers as it is not easy to gain access to such a competent and reliable adviser. Who isn't just wise but has all it takes to handle an investment and is good at what she does..
Thanks stephaniefythm.I have had the intentions of starting investing. But I always thought it was late and I think I need to stop procrastinating. I will definitely 🔍 Regina Louise Collaro and see what she can advise .Thanks a lot . This was of so much help to me
Took less time to get drafted and go to war than trying to retire through Social Security! Ridiculous. Just another slap in the face of a Vietnam Veteran.
Spent 1hr 15 min on hold waiting to talk to a representative. Was switched to a survey about my experience with the representative who I had yet to talk to. Then was hung up on. NOT HAPPY!!!!
I turn 62 next month. I applied online for SS retirement in Juky. Still no confirmation of my benefits starting next month. I contacted local SS office last week, was informed to be patient. Online services state they are required to provide verification within 30 days of application. Still nothing
I find it incredibly convenient that AARP answers most of my social security questions. I appreciate not having to search for information on other websites or articles.
The Social Security Administration handles Medicare. I wish they actually learn how to do the job. I've been trying to get my Korean wife enrolled through Medicare. However, since I am a retired service member in Korea and my wife is Korean they said I have to go through the US Embassy in the Philippines. I started in March 2021 and some of the delay was sending certified mail to Manila. I did that through a military postal service. It took a month to get to Manila, the Philippines and sat there for 3 months due to a lock down. Finally around October the Medicare section in Manila said all the correct paper work was done and was sent to the US for processing. My wife still hasn't received anything and now it has been 11 months and 2 weeks since we have started. I contacted Medicare in the US but they said I have to check with the US Embassy in the Philippines. However, the US Embassy says they have to wait for Medicare to finish in the US. Talk about lazy, worthless and incompetent people. As a retired US Army service member, I was proud to serve my country. My only regret is that we also serve and protect those who could care less about us.
As you can see the decay of our Governmental system has never been so bright ! I too, have been told to go through the Philippines US Embassy branch to sign up from Indonesia for my S.S. I called too many times and also to the States and both arenas yield the same lack of progress. I am a couple years out for Medicare. I am now going to wait till I go back to the US for a family visit to sign up as it’s too frustrating to do it from over here. Best of luck with learned patience.
So true. Called first thing Monday morning and was on hold 5 hours before I finally hung up. On Tuesday I was on hold 7 hours, Wednesday 7.5 hours, Thursday 6 hours. I plan on going to my local office on Friday, if I can get in.
I was a police officer for 13 years in California and I did not pay into social security then. I will not have a retirement income from them. But, Can I count the years that I worked cuz the income then was much higher than it's ever been, when I actually paid into social security. Thank you. By the way it's very discouraging and seeing if they never answer their phone
And don’t forget if you worked for a municipality that did not make Social Security contributions. Take your Pension information so they can apply The WEP reduction provision. Lol.
Hello everyone, I'm reaching out for guidance and support during a challenging time. My husband, a US citizen, passed away in October 2023 at the age of 68. We were married for four years, and he was receiving security retirement benefits. I'm now 25 years old, with debts to pay and a child to support. Living in the Philippines, I wonder if there are any steps I can take to access his benefits to help me through this difficult period. Any advice or assistance would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Hi there - so sorry you're having a hard time. Please visit aarp.org/socialsecurity for more information or reach out to AARP directly at 1-888-OUR-AARP.
If you were married 10 years or longer, you can file & get added $ from their account that the spouse paid in (which MAY be a larger amount than your's).
I can't afford to rent an apartment by myself , but make to much to collect surviver support. Thats not a handout. Im entitled to it. How about them crooked apples
After receiving auto deposits for two years, they abruptly, without warning or explantion, stopped. Thus leaving me homeless and stranded overseas. Passwords are just the latest brainchild excuse not to have to help anyone.
Does anyone know: When a person applies for SS at age 62 or above, the SS online website application has a checklist of things you need. In that checklist one item under "Marriage and Divorce" • Name of prior spouse (if the marriage lasted more than 10 years or ended in death) Question... If the prior spouse marriage did NOT last more than 10 years, do you NOT have to list any prior marriage(s)?

I applied for survivor benefits 3 years ago, and I must say, the process has been incredibly smooth.
managing my social security online is incredibly convenient and stress-free.
I work two jobs and rarely have time to visit social security. Having social security online makes the process easier, thankfully.
thank you, AARP answers, for tackling this topic!

No. Social security stops when you die.

So if I was married twice in life, what does social security need to know about the 1 st marriage?
If you were married 10 years or longer, you can file & get added $ from their account that the spouse paid in (which MAY be a larger amount than your's).
