I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
Well, this was helpful. I turned 66 1/2 in November 23 so I applied 4 Dec 23 to start my benefits in January. I do realize I won't receive them until Feb at the earliest. My Birthday is on the 18th so I would receive it on the 3rd Wednesday each month. That's great. My concern is I haven't heard 1 word from Social Security about my application. I go online and it keeps saying it's being reviewed and they will get to it as soon as they can. I just wish they would give me some word on what to expect. Sorry for venting.
@@michelletripp655 So I'm drawing SS now. It had to make several phone calls and ended up talking to our regional office in Auburn WA. She was a very nice lady and basically said they were so overwhelmed they haven't gotten to me. However, once she brought up my file she decided to go ahead and talk with me to get it done. I told her she was an angel, and I appreciated her so much. Basically, they are short manned and it's taking longer to get through the applications.
i turn 62 next month Nov.'24 and 2 weeks prior before I turn 63 I will appy for Social Secuirty and thnaks to this video that i will recieve my frist check on the 3 rd week of Nov '24, because my birthay is 17 November.
Question: I turned 62 on September 22 and had already been approved to start receiving my benefits on November 23. I went to the Social Security website to verify today, and it said "Payments Suspended Your payments are suspended because our records indicate that you were or are currently working." So is this saying I have to quit working to collect? How do I fix this?
Since you retired below FRA during the year in 2023, your monthly income is capped at $1770/month once you start collecting or else you get penalized. In 2024, it's $1860/month or $22,320 for the entire year. You need to end your f/t job and start working p/t instead. Make sure your p/t wages don't exceed the annual limit.
I turned 65 and My first Social Security retirement benefits payment was supposed to get direct deposit in august,But it’s November and I still have Not got it ?? It’s seems to be on hold??
I retired at 60 (41yrs) and am now 62. I decided I would start in Sept. of this year 2024. I applied Sept. 1st, received two (email) updates on my application status. I was fully approved Oct. 3rd. and the first benefit payment was in my account on Oct. 6th. My B-day date is not until the 21st. I thought my payment wouldn't arrive until the fourth Wednesday, the 23rd of Oct. I'm not complaining but it seems odd. I'm guessing my next payment won't be until Nov. 27th (fourth Wed in Nov) I guess we'll see.🤔
I just got my verificaion letter to or getting my widows benefits, they have all docs.my letter sayys im entitled to these benefits, why wont they release my benefits, how long are they going to o make me wait and my letter says imentitled to full benefits where is my money
So if you get retroactive money deposited into your bank account will it state that it’s retro or appear as a normal deposit? Thanks . Ah, so Julys deposit is deposited in August.
Question for anyone if I look at the S.S. website to see what I could be paid when I retire. And if it said 1900, is that what my check would be, or do they tax it and pay me less. Thank you
Thank you for a great Video, I was wondering if you clarify something for me. I decided to collect SS right at 62 and I turned 62 on March 20th of this year. So I applied early in January 2024 so there won't be any delays. So I was expecting to get my first check in April, last month. Nothing came through, the Social Security website says Next payment May 22nd. I went to the SS office and the lady was sitting behind a thick glass with just a few holes in it and I couldn't really hear what she was saying, she waved around this chart and said your next payment is May 22nd. But everyone online is saying I should receive it the following month after my birthday. I am so confused, can you clarify? Thank you
How do you apply online when you do not have, want or need a phone to use my computer? Why, after years of safety online do I need a phone to use my computer? Why am I being persecuted for not having a phone?
Because you need a "logon.gov" password to access SSA.gov website. It's to keep your account secure. When you sign in to SSA.gov...they will text or email you a number to use to access your account. You should be able to receive the email on your computer.
. @markfriedman5093 I replayed the video a few times in regards to your reply and actually he does not answer it. It is either 66 or 67, depending on when you were born. 1943 to 1954 means it is 66. 1955 to 1960 gradually moves from 66 to 67 . You can look it up easily. Probably already have.
I will reach full retirement age (for me, it's 66 and 8 months) in one month. Since my birthday is at the end of the month, will I have to wait until the end of the month to apply, or can I apply on the first day of the month?
I don't know about your job pension, but for Social Security pension, you need to apply to receive the pension benefit. You can do it online, or by visiting your local SS Administration office.

I'm retiring in December and didn't know the dates of the Social Security checks. I can now plan my monthly budget. Thank you.
Dec for me, also. When did you get your 1st check?
I thought I knew everything about Social Security but I learned something today. Subscribed!
How about showing how to actually do the applying on line to start benefits at full retirement age. Thanks.
Quite a bit more optimistic than some others. Some speak of 3 - 4 months before my first check.
If you apply 2 months early, the government holds back 1st month and some get it in the 3rd week… so about 3-4 sounds right.

Apparently you got screwed.
You turned 62 during March so April is the first full month you were 62 so your first payment is May. Every payment you get is for the previous month.
Question, May 28 62years and why do I have to wait until July 24.2024.help,me.
Because the first full month you will be 62 is June and you will get that payment in July.
