Agreed! Also a former 6 year lululemon manager here! I would definitely go for the Like a Cloud bra. I wear them everyday for workouts and just as a regular bra! I used to wear Energy bras, but they leave dents on top of my shoulders and hurt. Now I usually try on in store then buy on poshmark or on the lululemon Like New (used) section of the site! I also recommend sizing down in the align leggings - it seems counterintuitive, but it's true.
Omg I’m a Former manager(amo) too! The new wunderunder’s are amazing the happy medium between align and wunder trains (my personal FAV) and definitely size down in aligns! many people would look at me sideways when I told them to size done one or 2 sizes! (2 if you like the tight fit!) and educators are seriously so helpful! At our store we wanted you to leave feeling loved even if you didn’t bye anything! They pulled back the extended sizes, and at our store we were heart broken! But alway tried to help!
Fitting room idea: princess Polly just opened a store in AZ and it has plus sizes and straight sizes- maybe a try on since a lot of people can buy online too 🤷🏻♀️
Hi Carrie! I used to work at Lululemon and I appreciate your feedback and POV in this video. I wanted to address a couple of things you brought up: - Sales-y ness: Lulu has a model where you earn extra $ if the store hits certain sales and/or stretch goals throughout the quarter. Managers will harass you if you aren't constantly interacting with customers and doing everything possible to make a sale. If you 'leave people alone' to shop/browse you will be spoken to by a manger. It's annoying AF both as a patron and an employee and is primarily the reason I shop online at lulu 90% of the time. - Sizing: Lulu puts out a certain number of each size in stores, which always includes more sizes in the middle than the other numbered sizes. For example, a jacket will have 2 0's, 2's, and 4's and 3 6's and 8's and 2 10's etc. I forget the exact ratios but it is a thing and they don't tend to have much past a 12 other than leggings in store. The employees probably reacted that way to your size question because they rarely encounter anything above a 12 in inventory. - I've also found align's are big on me/tend to slide down, I personally just tend to deal with it b/c they are so comfortable or tuck a shirt into them to prevent the slideage
That's great information Erinn! However, it just confirms that it's not for me. If they're going to ignore 3/4 of the women in america, which is the percentage that is above the size 12, then that retailer is not for me. And if it's theirjob to bother me even if I ask them not to, then it's not for me. As with other commenters, I use my leggings a lot! And even though they are cheap, they last just fine. I'll let Lululemon do the innovations and then I'll benefit from that design at other retailers. But truly, thanks for sharing that perspective.
I only buy workout leggings with a tie waist/drawstring!!! All mine are from Girlfriend Collective and are top notch! Although they are either planning on discontinuing that style or just rarely restock all the sizes so I don’t know how helpful that is 😭 I had stocked up last year when it was fully in stock because my previous pair were from 4 years ago and were still so amazing so I got more in case they were ever discontinued.
This! I've found some at target and old Navy. The only leggings that will stay in my body! Even worse now that I've had 2 kids, the loose belly skin can push down the thickest waist bands.
I'm an employee at a lululemon outlet, and while retail stores have a horrible selection of 14-20 the outlets definitely have a much better selection in those sizes (especially in the pants, it really fluctuates on the selection we have in the outlets for tops/bras in 14-20 though). And as some other employees have stated in the comments size down in Aligns! It really helps them stay up. Wunder Trains aren't for me since I have a really long torso, but I adore the Wunder Unders!
Just wanted to say thank you for these videos Had such a knock in confidence really after a fitting room saga, it’s nice to know it’s not just me but also it’s amazing to see how gorgeous I think you are and realise that we actually have really similar bodies All the love!!💕
I remember when Lululemon was only in Canada and went up to maybe only a size 12? They also ran very small. They've come a long way since expanding into the States!
I love active wear videos! I run and lift so I'm always on the hunt. As a 16/XL/XXL person I really enjoy Buffbunny. Not everything is a hit but their fabrics are nice and they have good variety for activewear and lifestyle. Might be worth trying! Kamo Fitness and P'tula are great too.
As a busty gal, I felt like I unlocked the code when I found Lulu's Envital bra. It's a v neck, which I wouldn't ordinarily associate with being the most supportive (I think it even says medium support). I found it's great for high impact activities like running, and gives the arms a lot more room for movement. Would definitely recommend!
They did have some super cute clothes but I would love to see a Kohls, target, or old navy fitting room video for workout clothes. I know they're not brands specific to workout clothes but they have more affordable options.
I am so happy you did this video Carrie!! We have similar body types and I have always been unsure about lululemon. I thought the first set in the hot pink is so cute and looked really cute on you? But if it didn't feel right for you, then I get it. Great video!! ♥
I have some athletic leggings and bike shorts from Target that I have had for probably 4 years and they have been fantastic. I dont remember how much they cost but I wear them a LOT and they have held up.
I get the Lululemon super high rise align leggings and they do not fall!! I’ve literally ran a half marathon in them and have no issues - the only thing is I do believe they are online only
First off, love you Carrie, thanks for everything you demo and try, your thoughts views and opinions. I’m from the Province in Canada (British Columbia) that is the heart and originator of Lululemon. In the day, they selectively catered to a very “small size” clientele; and they were almost viewed as “cult like”. I am a long practicing (at home) yogi and even I don’t practice in align’s. They simply slide down off my waist and like you, I’m constantly hoisting them. Since under new CEO and expanding into the USA and other countries, they’ve become a bit more size inclusive ~online~ but rarely above a 14 or an XL in the stores. As a many year fan of Lululemon, I have noticed a shift (again) in their products and their demographic and I’m not exactly embracing it. Thank you so much for your in-store try on session. What you purchased looked amazing on you and I too want to “feel good” in what I’m working out in. ♥️
You should do a life update video. I have watched you for at least 10 years. I would love to know how your mom is doing and how your family is and you and your BF are doing.
I can't ever think of a time I was out and about and wondered where someone got their leggings from. My $12 Danskin leggings from COSTCO have lasted me for 4 years and look brand new. High price does not mean quality.
@@JennerationOfGrace There is a particular one I love. Danskin with a gold label. I am 5'2 and they don't go all the way up under my boobs, lol. I actually went on Amazon today to see if I could find them there. I may have and should get them tomorrow. Fingers crossed as they are the best! Literally 4 years of washing constantly and look new. I'd just like several pairs.
I can’t find any brand I like better for working out than Lulu. I tried so hard! I shop online mostly bc the store IS so overwhelming, like you said. I mostly just buy aligns. I have that houndstooth pair!
I love my lululemon tops, but I hate the align leggings. They’re staticy, the fall right off when I’m walking, no support, they pill. For working out I just use Old Navy Powerflex, it’s amazing.
Before you got to the wunder trains I was like “SHE NEEDS THE WUNDER TRAINS”. The aligns don’t roll down on me- I CANNOT explain why because everything else does but they’re SO STRETCHY so maybe just try different sizes? Also the energy longline bras are the best.
I’m so glad you did this video. I get so overwhelmed when I go into Lululemon because I’m a plus size girlie. Can you please do an Offline by Aerie try on haul
A workout line review where you test the pieces for a few weeks doing a variety of exercises would be nice. Leggings always feel good at first, but then slide down me 5 minutes into the workout.
I'd love to see an H&M video! I don't have one near me so I'm interested in seeing if it would be worth the hour drive. I'm a mid-size over-50 girlie and love your channels! ❤
I'm a similar size/body type and wear a 12 in Aligns so maybe give it a shot! They definitely run large. I sometimes even wear my size 10 Aligns from a few years ago but they're definitely more compressive "instant tummy ache" vibes haha
0:19 I had the opposite realisation than this. I also thought spending more money on brands meant better, longer lasting quality - wrong. Especially as a size 12 with thighs that rub together at the top. I just had to get my Aligns repaired because the crotch seams came undone, which I mean, nice that they offered for free, but it took 2 weeks and my time to go into their store to repair $165 leggings that I'd only worn for less than a year? Nah. Another pair, a popular brand Lorna Jane in Australia, $90, had them for 12 months, they started bursting at the seams at the crotch and when I reached out for what they'd do, they said nothing, that's considered normal wear and tear. I have a $12 pair of leggings from Kmart (Australia) that I've had for 2 years, the seams at the crotch have held up! So my lesson learned: More money spent doesn't equal long lasting clothing. I do like Lululemon though, but will not be buying their leggings for workouts cause they just don't last.
The lulu lemons around me always have up to size 16 in store readily available. Size 10-14 are just SOOO popular that often times the reason it's not in store is cause it is sold out.
im typically a size 14-16 but in lulu align leggings I am a size 10. they’re super stretchy and buttery so i think if you sized down even more in those specifically you would like them more. My fav bra from them is also the long line energy bra!
a tip given to me when leggings from lulu slide down is to size down. which is honestly hard for me since i’m normally one of the smaller sizes and they also don’t carry them often in store. they’ll have them but very limited, at least in my area. the ones with the tie are normally my favorites for daily wear and working out, wunder trains and i believe base pace are the best. tops run very small imo, for reference i’m a 32dd or 30ddd and i’ve sworn off pretty much all of their sports bras. they don’t accommodate well for larger cup sizes except for like a cloud bras and i won’t workout in the one i have. energy bras are one of the bests for larger cups as well, especially the long lines size down in aligns for sure. i’m a 25 waist for the most part and wear a 2 in double lined or 0 in the standard style and pre 2019 align pant I, when in other brands im a true xs and sometimes small. there is definitely a specific group and body shape that lululemon caters to and even as a smaller petite girl im not part of that but the quality (and resale sites) are why i tend to gravitate to lulu, other brands for a similar price point have not held up with multiple washes for me and often don’t go small enough in the waist/fit very awkward
Those groove pants are the nulu fabric (same as aligns) so just be aware that pilling on the inner thighs will likely happen. Especially if they're going on multiple mile walks. They're my faves though 💛
I’ve never worn LLL, I have been very happy with the quality of old navy and have not had to replace my leggings in like four years. Is the quality truly better?
I had a problem with my leggings sliding down so I got the GymShark training waistband leggings. It has a anti-slip strip in the waist and it's incredible. Or compressive leggings those can't fall 🤣
Can’t wait to watch this! What’s fun about lulu is that I can size down 2 sizes from my usual size, so I hope your experience was good in finding your size! ❤
In Lululemon leggings, I love the wondertrain but I size up in them and I don't get that fall down situation. It just gives a little more space for the shape of my body.
I’d like you to compare popular workout brands popfit, alo, glyder, lulu, halera not sure if I missed any probably did it would be really interesting to see your opinion on the difference in material fit and whatnot they’re all kind of pricy and I’d love to know which is worth shelling out for
those brown flare pants are adorable and I'd love to grab a pair...I just can't with their pricing. i'm sure it compares to the quality of their stuff...but $128 on that one pair of pants is just not okay for me, whether they last me 3+ years or not. They also just don't carry my size anyway, which is fine they don't have to, but it's another deterrent even if I could afford the price point. everything looked super cute on you though! love the content as always
For working out get the Wunder trains or wunder unders. They have a string inside the band to tighten them for more secure workout. And the fabric is made for working out and won’t pile. lol while I type you just tried them on 😂👍🏻
I have about 5-6 pairs of leggings from REI about 15 years ago. They don’t roll down or budge at all. Of course they discontinued the style like 14 years ago 😂. Mine are all thread bare and barely hanging on. Probably don’t pass a squat test any more but I just don’t care. I need to find some new ones though so I’m on this journey with you!
As a former lululemon employee, I am pleading with you to wear aligns only for low impact/low friction activities and to air dry them if you want to keep them nicer for longer. They are not too restrictive for your stomach but will eventually get pilling. Pilling is normal. Excessive pilling probably means higher friction activities or being too rough on them.
I size down 2 full sizes in the align brand. I could maybe go down 3 but I like to breathe haha. I’m more of a Athleisure girl. But I’m an 18 and my aligns are 12/14s. However they DO carry bottoms in store up to 20. They just sell quickly. But restocks are very common too. Tops I have a much harder time. Usually the tanks only go up to 14 but I’ve heard they are working on larger sizes in tanks 🤞🏾 hoodies and what not are slash sizes and are usually stocked up to xl/xxl. If that helps anyone
You should get Lululemon's Wonder Train if you want them to stay in your stomach, we're the same size, these pants won't move an inch. The Align are meant for yoga, not high intensity training. They are very transparent about it.
Love their new align cami tank with adjustable straps, I hate when sports bras don't have that. Not sure how supportive it is though cause I need zero support lol
I only wear lulu align pants. They aren’t for high impact but I definitely would size down. I’m a size 12 and I wear an 8 in aligns. I even wore them through both of my pregnancies.
I'd also love to see you do a FP Movement review -- I see so many influencers wearing/endorsing their products, but I question if their clothes hold up during activities like running, spin, training, etc., or if they're just meant to be worn as athleisure.
Have you tried Athleta - the old navy/gap/banana republic sister store? Would love that as a comparison cause they're sorta expensive and unsure if they're any good.
I had an align tank top (the high neck version) and ended up reselling it. For whatever reason, the cropped style made me feel like a stuffed sausage in the midsection and whenever I wore it, I had the sensation that it wouldn't stay put. I just avoided reaching for it. I wonder if the v-neck version is better?
Hi Carrie!! All the outfits looked so pretty on you

I love the wunder train leggings because they have a drawstring and also when I start sweating even a little they become glued to me.
Try Athleta next! I’ve found some bras at their outlet but never tried leggings or anything else. I’m a size 12 or 14 depending on fit.

One of the cool things about the tags at lululemon is that they described the intended fit, feel, and activity (casual, run, yoga, etc)
heyyyy barbie! the pink set was perfection!

there is definitely a specific group and body shape that lululemon caters to and even as a smaller petite girl im not part of that but the quality (and resale sites) are why i tend to gravitate to lulu, other brands for a similar price point have not held up with multiple washes for me and often don’t go small enough in the waist/fit very awkward
Those groove pants are the nulu fabric (same as aligns) so just be aware that pilling on the inner thighs will likely happen. Especially if they're going on multiple mile walks. They're my faves though 💛
lmfao I died when you pulled the other shopping bags out
Okay, I'm only half way through, but you look so good in everything! 😍
I would definitely recommend trying some of there other skorts. I’ve had some good luck
you look gorgeous ✨💗
Totally agree - I love my Old Navy skort!
So iconic for doing this!
I’ve never worn LLL, I have been very happy with the quality of old navy and have not had to replace my leggings in like four years. Is the quality truly better?
I would love to see a Fabletics vlog!
The answer to not having leggings sliding off you is spelled Under Armour. They have a series with Non-slip waistbands that are 🔥
I had a problem with my leggings sliding down so I got the GymShark training waistband leggings. It has a anti-slip strip in the waist and it's incredible. Or compressive leggings those can't fall 🤣
Can’t wait to watch this! What’s fun about lulu is that I can size down 2 sizes from my usual size, so I hope your experience was good in finding your size! ❤
Would love a review on aerie activewear 🥺
Vitality!!!!! They are very size inclusive!
Pink is your color! 🩷
In Lululemon leggings, I love the wondertrain but I size up in them and I don't get that fall down situation. It just gives a little more space for the shape of my body.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have a phobia about wearing leggings. ❤thanks for the encouragement.😊
I’d like you to compare popular workout brands popfit, alo, glyder, lulu, halera not sure if I missed any probably did it would be really interesting to see your opinion on the difference in material fit and whatnot they’re all kind of pricy and I’d love to know which is worth shelling out for
Ran faster to this video than I would IRL in lululemon clothes!
those brown flare pants are adorable and I'd love to grab a pair...I just can't with their pricing. i'm sure it compares to the quality of their stuff...but $128 on that one pair of pants is just not okay for me, whether they last me 3+ years or not. They also just don't carry my size anyway, which is fine they don't have to, but it's another deterrent even if I could afford the price point.
everything looked super cute on you though! love the content as always
I am OBSESSED with your white dress! What brand and where did you find it?? Love! I must find
For working out get the Wunder trains or wunder unders. They have a string inside the band to tighten them for more secure workout. And the fabric is made for working out and won’t pile. lol while I type you just tried them on 😂👍🏻
love the first pink set on you
I have about 5-6 pairs of leggings from REI about 15 years ago. They don’t roll down or budge at all. Of course they discontinued the style like 14 years ago 😂. Mine are all thread bare and barely hanging on. Probably don’t pass a squat test any more but I just don’t care. I need to find some new ones though so I’m on this journey with you!
I wear the energy Bras and getting in and out of them should be an Olympic sport. But during the work out they are a god send! I’m also a 38D.
I would love for you to do a try on haul from Vince. They have affordable ish clothes but I have been scared to order since it is online only.
For me I had to go down a size or 2 in specifically the align leggings and then they stay up and fit better. 💗
It’s a UK brand but insanely popular amongst us Pilates girlies: Adanola
I only wear lulu align pants. They aren’t for high impact but I definitely would size down. I’m a size 12 and I wear an 8 in aligns. I even wore them through both of my pregnancies.
I'd also love to see you do a FP Movement review -- I see so many influencers wearing/endorsing their products, but I question if their clothes hold up during activities like running, spin, training, etc., or if they're just meant to be worn as athleisure.
You should the lulu at the tanger outlets! I’ve gotten some great deals and I felt like there was more size inclusivity
