    So I have done this daily for over a year and lost 80 lbs. If you want to track your steps put your watch on your shoes like your laces or your ankle otherwise if it's on your wrist it won't track. I looped it through the part on the tongue. I do around 12,000 steps

      @@rachelwoudy7530 No if you're on a treadmill but resting your hands on a keyboard it won't count enough steps! Same with if you're pushing a stroller, it doesn't count the steps when on your wrist so I wear it on my ankle!

    • @andreawilson3211
      @andreawilson3211 3 місяці тому +2

      @lalalaAli yes exactly. I found when working and my hands are resting on my desk it doesn't track, so I bought a stretchy band to fit around my ankle but if some ppl don't want to buy that they can put it through the loops on their shoe where the tongue is and it serves the same purpose. 🙂

    I got one through my job wellness stipend. I liked it but it was hard to type, and my job consisted of a lot of typing. Also, I had the idea of using it during zoom meetings but those that require cameras on… it was not feasible to use the walking pad. It is heavier than I thought, so that’s another thing to think about. At the end, mine lasted like 3-4 months before it stopped working. I was offered to replace a motor replacement, but I am not a mechanic. I had to let it go and don’t have money to replace it. Do get oil to oil your pad (that’s important). Also, if you are considering getting one look for the dimensions-if you are tall or have a long step, some strips might be too short for you,and you’ll trip.

    I wish you tried it for 30 days like Sierra! It would’ve been more helpful and well tested if it was used more consistently so you can try fixing the cons you mentioned (the static, the cords, etc) and then reporting back. Sometimes it feels like the comments are helping you more than vice versa lol

      That’s valid! I felt the same but didn’t know how to express it. Grateful for the review because I love Carrie’s videos, but it seemed like it was putting forth a less than optimal amount of effort into this. Hopefully it will be considered next time in overall review!

    • @Jayjay-kx7io

      But isn't this just a real review though? She felt like she couldn't get into it and it was a faff to get out every day. The static was annoying when working etc. That's real life and I was considering getting one but I'm exactly the same and I know now I'd probably just not bother after a week. It's a real person doing a real review on if it's worth the hype in their opinion. She tried to get into it over a few months and simply couldn't. It's not a review on how much her weight or body changes, and she addressed it didnt help her focus etc. It was just a simple 'is it worth it'? I bet there's a ton more informative videos on UA-cam though! 🙂

    • @katherine5797
      @katherine5797 3 місяці тому +10

      I'm all for constructive criticism but that last sentence was really rude 😕 Carrie has already mentioned feeling a bit burnt out by UA-cam recently and I'm sure these videos take a lot of time and effort. Also what's the point in comparing her to another creator? If you prefer the way the other creator reviewed the product then maybe just watch their video? Just seems like your comment was less constructive and more comparative and mean.

    I have a Sperax that I got for about $200 on Black Friday. It has a handle bar and I use it almost every day, usually while watching TV (it’s quiet). I use a pedometer app to measure steps. I needed something small and affordable. It doesn’t incline, but it does go up to 6mph, more than enough for my needs. I’ve never had any problem with static.

    My walking pad came with oil (you lube under the tread lol) and never have static! Maybe email the company for oil? Also, mine came with an Allen key that you use on the back roller and it adjusts the tension of the track. It should not be off center. I bought the one that Sierra has (Sharewin) and it’s been great! It also has an option to turn off the beep!

  • @dawnliphard9591

    The hip flexor issue could be because of the way you walk while in a treadmill. When we walk outside, we unconsciously vary our stride for the terrain. Treadmils are static, and a specific area, so we repeat the same stride for the duration of the walk.

  • @meganfarmer1957
    @meganfarmer1957 3 місяці тому +3

    On the hip flexor-treadmill thing: I get that too, and I think it’s because the track(?) limits your gait width. That might mean that you’re forced to subconsciously pull in your legs and that puts stress on your hip flexors. Not a physio person at all, but that’s what I’ve experienced.

    I think the virality is a bunch of BS! I have a walking pad but I use it for walking in the mornings because it was cheaper than a legit treadmill and I know I never want to run. But there's no way you can really spend hours working on a computer/lap top while walking on a walking pad (unless all you do for work is watch stuff). There's too much instability/body movement to use a mouse or keyboard while walking. Everybody is just lying about it to look like they are a fit girlie/guy.

    • @amivanzyl8876
      @amivanzyl8876 Місяць тому +1

      exactly! there's also no need to walk for the majority of your day. a major benefit of standing desks is changing up your position, not that you should stand all day. the walking pad is also helpful for maybe a couple hours of walking per day. more than that is unnecessary, and the pads aren't made to handle the usage volume either.

    I’ve been using this same walking pad since October 2023. I have never experienced the static issue personally. I sometimes use corded earbuds but I usually use Bluetooth so maybe that’s why. I have carpet in my office so my walking pad goes on that heavy duty plastic chair pad that I already have there for my chair. I do find that when I walk and work, an hour can fly by before I know it so I do think it helps with focus! It also encourages me to stay at my desk for longer stretches at a time because I tend to get up a lot while I work because I’m just antsy or bored. I bet that editing could be really difficult while walking. I work mostly in spreadsheets and it’s ok the majority of the time but when I’m trying to do some more detailed work, I have to work really hard to click my mouse in the exact right spot. 🙃

    I may have a solution for the treadmill belt shifting to one side. I have a small folding treadmill and the same thing happens with mine every time I use it. The issue causing mine to shift: uneven floors. It's really annoying, but here's what I do to fix it:
    My treadmill came with an L shaped screwdriver tool. I turn the treadmill on and increase the speed to 1. Then I use the tool on the right side corner of the treadmill (the one on the end of the treadmill that doesn't have the screen with the numbers on it). There should be a hole that the tool fits into in that corner. Put the tool in it and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise, then wait a full minute to see if the belt moves over (it should). Repeat until the belt is centered. If you find that the belt still moves more to the left again when you walk on it, then the next time you adjust the belt, adjust it until there's a gap on the left side instead of the belt being centered (to compensate for the shifting that happens while you're using the treadmill). I personally always have to adjust it so there's enough of a gap on the left side, so that whenever I use the treadmill and it shifts, it doesn't shift so far that it's completely on the left and not the right.
    Also, make sure to oil the treadmill sometimes. Not sure how often yours needs it, but I oil mine once a month. Hope these tips help!

I found it to be veeeery unpractical to always move it from under my desk to another place in the room, so instead of using the walking pad while I work, i use it while i read. I'm a fan of romance books so whenever i read, i walk, and it's been a wonderful combo for me, it allows me to move a lot more! I still use my standing desk everyday for work, i love it. I've been watching many reviews on these kinds of treadmills, and the tread moving to one side is a common occurence. Most treadmills I've seen come with a little wrench to adjust the tread if it moves to one side, it's just a part of having a treadmill that is 1/20th the price of commercial equipment

    The problem you're having with the static you have it over a rug remember when we were little kids and we would rub our feet on the rug and create static and you would put a balloon over your head and your hair would stand up on its ends... well that's exactly what's happening with the treadmill it's creating a bunch of static over that rug try it without the rug.

    Nice idea in theory, but I could not concentrate and work and walk at the same time lol. I think most people would be better off just going for a more intense walk or run before or after the work - it's not that hard to get up an extra half an hour early and go for a more intense walk (on the treadmill/walking pad if the weather is bad or ideally outside). Pretty sure it's also been studied that humans actually can't properly multi-task - we just end up doing both tasks poorly than if we separated them and put all our effort into each task.

    The small space thing is the main reason I didn't invest in the walking pad (already had a standing desk). Also I like to sit to type / work on spreadsheets (majoring of my job) so I couldn't see myself going back and forth from moving the pad back and forth or where to store it.
    For me, I found a walking pad called Ergofit. It's a short treadmill, like half the length I think. It is elevated a few inches so you also walk on a slight incline the whole time. I found this was way easier to tuck into a corner and hop on it when I want. It's not out of sight so I had to get use to seeing it in my space (not very aesthetic lol).
    But I've been walking on it four days a week since April 1. Hung up a blank monthly calendar on the wall by the treadmill to check off my walk (I'm big on lists and checking off items). 😅. Oh and mounted a tiny shelf to the wall facing the treadmill so I could stand by phone or Kindle. Letting my mind rest from work and watching YT for 20 minutes while I walk is just a nice destresser

      I have a different one from Carrie's but have tried a few and seen other people's. The pads are not silent, they tend to be a bit louder than a normal treadmill. I got a cheap noise absorption mat made for under workout machines specifically and that helps a lot with the motor noise, because it isn't travelling directly through the floor.

    Thank you for this honest review! I've been thinking about getting one of these as I'm housebound and want to get moving more without leaving the house but it's pricey and I have so many exercise items lying around the house unused after a brief flurry of exercising 😅

    I think your issue is the brand of walking pad you have. I got the Sharewin and it’s great! No moving belt or static. It’s a little more expensive but it’s longer and more sturdy. It was something I wanted to spend more on to have better quality

    Hi Carrie, this isn’t about the walking pad (which is also intriguing, I’ve used a treadmill desk and liked it!) but I’m wondering if you could share a link to the lighting you use in your office for filming? It looks like you use natural light from windows but do you also add lights? Thanks!

    I have been thinking about getting one since Sierra did the same experiment and I might.
    As far as I know you aren't supposed to use it on carpet because it could cause fire and static. Maybe try it on just the floor 💡
    For the static you could try and ground the pad using a clip on the pad and on something like a radiator.

    This was helpful to decide I don’t think it’s for me. I have to drag and drop files a lot into smaller areas on my screen for my work and I do a lot of typing and I just don’t think I’d be able to do both. I think it would distract me and I wouldn’t work as efficiently. But the girlies are making me feel kinda guilty like “oh this is a way to get more movement that’s easy” … but not all of us have jobs where that works well? Or coordination! 😂 I have a full size treadmill I take walks on every day and honestly it’s a better idea to walk away from my desk and get the break!

    I have a standing desk walking pad set up too and I love it! I think it's so worth it. I have the walking pad standing/leaning along the wall next to the desk for when I need to sit. I've never had any issues with static, but I'm not linoleum tiles and I don't use headphones. Sorry that happening to you! I hope things settle in and you find a rhythm. I wish I had tips for you! ❤

    Have you thought that perhaps a lot of the static might be coming from the clothing you're wearing while working out? Have you tried some anti-static spray especially in between where your thighs rub together?
