You're so smiley! It's hard not to smile watching you and listening to you🙂 I do have to say, 8-9 years on I still haven't really pinned down my style lol, it changes weekly sometimes! 🤣 it was lovely to see you today hon and to hear your story. Hugs to you🙂💖 Rose xxx
Lovely video, Justine! It was good to hear a bit about you and I agree. I'm mostly there, but feel my style is still (always?) forming and evolving. Best wishes and blessings to you!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed watching 🤩 I think our tastes probably change with age too, so we're likely always evolving. All in the name of fun! 🤩💖
Thank you so much for hosting this Collab, along with Mandy! Thanks for the reminder that I must destash a bit & use what I have - stop buying, Lynn! Gentle Hugs.🤎
Love This Collab..I appreciate the share💖 Congratulations on 1 year of the FB group. I remembered when you announced it. I joined quickly, Very interesting story! The Journey to your growth and improvement for much more to come....
Hahha i did just what you said. EXACTLY. It's like falling in love, you fall head over heels and go crazy and then your brain says whoa what are you doing? lol
Great video wonderful advice! I do find myself buying new things constantly lol! But truth is I use almost all of it just not all of it at 1 time. But I do enjoy blessing others alot so I find myself sharing alot of it. Thx for sharing your story!
Well you're much better than me then! Haha... if you're using the stuff and getting enjoyment from it, then it sounds like you've got the right idea 🤩💖
Thank you for this! I catch myself falling into the "I need to have that" trap. Thank you all for contributing to this collaboration. I am enjoying it immensely and finding new creators to watch.
It seems we've all been there, so you're certainly not alone. I've found it's gotten easier with time to whittle my stash down to what I like and enjoy using as I've gotten to know myself better as a crafter. I just wish I'd built my stash up slower in the beginning lol 😅💖
With crafting in general hoarding/collecting supplies in any craft can be a problem. But with junk journaling you save even more stuff like mailers, envelopes etc. And it can be over the top quickly. You are not alone.
Great advice, Justine! Thanks you. I must say I’ve already picked up some useful advice from you and Tracie. I’m looking forward to doing my part on Sunday. Thanks to you and Mandy for the privilege of contributing to this collaboration! 💕
💜🎶Good morning Justine.. Just look at how you've grown .. over 3000 subbies.. over 50 comments on this one video alone... you did well kiddo ... Blessings 💜🎶🇨🇦
I like your sentiment, but sometimes you don't know what your interest is until you try it all & narrow it down over time. Basically, hindsight can be grand! 🥰 ❤️
Hi Justine, I agree with it taking time to find the style that fits. Yours seems to be woodland inspired. I've found I enjoy looking at all kinds of creations but am drawn more to the simple style. I'm still working on organizing my things too 😊.
I remember watching your video a year ago & meeting you - You are simply a joy Justine - agree 100% Where do those who are new to creating hand made/ Junk journals find a resource as to what they need to have to start - Best glues, rulers , pens, tapes, scissors !!ect .. I’ve been doing paper crafting since I was 5 years old beginning with paper dolls. It has taken me about 3 years to finally find my “niche”( I think 😂) Well done my sweetheart! Thank you , so so much for sharing your story, thoughts via your experience 🌸🍃 Much love , C
Thank you lovely! Believe it or not, I have a blog post for the "essential" junk journal supplies. Just based on my opinion. But equally, did you see Tracie's video yesterday? So helpful regarding tools that she thinks are essential 🤩💖
Justine, I LOVE your video on how you got started making junk journals! It was very enjoyable!! I am so glad to be able to put a face to the beautiful voice I hear on your videos! I am SO excited for this collaboration!! Thank you very much!!!
This is an awesome series. I think a lot more crafters should join in. It’s inspirational and helpful for many who are still trying to find ways to bring in income. Enjoyed this very much!
Great video, my friend. I am looking forward to all the fun things happening in the group in May. Congratulations on a year! I also noticed that you are over 3k subbies. Wow! You are going strong. ❤️
I'm so pleased to hear that Rhonda - it's going to be a fun month! And yes! It happened while I was away... I need to get my feet back on the ground to actually celebrate lol
Love this so much! I’m in the process of working through “all that stuff” I needed…one set of printed digitals isn’t enough, so I print several and go from there. 😊
Aww, thank you Robin! I'm glad you enjoyed watching - it's such a fun Collab so far 🤩 Haha, very true! You should see my pile of printed out kits lol 🙈😅
I love this collaboration. It’s so much fun already. Looking forward to watching all of the videos. I loved hearing your story and it was nice putting a face to the name. 💕
Great advice Justine! Totally agree with the "too many" choices dilemma. It really does take time to develop a style and I was not patient with that process. Thanks for your encouragement! 😘
This is a great idea! I would have LOVED this when I was first starting out! I think it will also be helpful to those of us who have been doing this for awhile. I currently was in the market for new paper trimmer, so it was helpful to hear what Tracie's advice was on those. Thank you! ❤
Great video. I enjoyed learning about you and I appreciate your advice. However, we crafters seem to be a kind of craft supply hoarders. Blessings and Hugs 🤗
Well this is fun and interesting! I would say that I have always loved crafting and have a tendency to do different kinds of crafts and then get bored. Also, people have given me lots of supplies. I keep most of them because I am the person everybody comes to when they need to or want to make something. I almost always have what they want. No need to buy more. So, I keep stuff. I have a bit of an addiction to fabric and lace. I would say my style is a cross between shabby chic and vintage. I just love the look. I equally love things that others make and get inspiration from them, but I would probably adapt it all to my style. You may not have wanted this overshare, but here you go. Lol
I would add that what I love about junk journals is that it combines all of my crafts into one. I can literally use all of it in a journal. With the exception of cake decorating. 😂
This is so true! I think that's what I liked about it too... plus also the upcycling part. I do really enjoy turning random things into something else 😅💖
Thank you for your good advice Every time I see digitals, I fall in love and want to buy them. But I’ve learned to think first, will I actually use these? Do I need these? Because usually the answer is no! But oh, they’re always so beautiful! 😂
Oh I know!! I have over a dozen digitals I've not even printed yet... so I'm currently on a buying ban for a bit. But you're right - they're so pretty it's very hard to say no lol
Hello Justine, so nice to hear your story again. I have the same dilemma…bought too much stuff that I didn’t need after all. I’ve been trying to de stash for months it’s never ending. Like you I haven’t probably found my style yet 😊. It’s evolving and that’s the fun part I guess. Big hugs and much love ❤️
I'm so excited for this collab! I loved hearing your story and your perspectives. (I have several items I have used once or twice and then lost interest so I totally relate to that! 😂) Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Justine. As a junk journal newbie, I found your video enlightening and motivating. I'm one of those beginners you describe who is amassing inventory and feeling too overwhelmed to start and finish anything. I now believe I need to begin with a doable project, one that's for my eyes only, one I can finish in a day. This collaboration is such a lovely way to introduce artists who are willing to share their talent and accumulated wisdom.
Aww, I can totally relate Marilyn - I think your idea of doing a smaller project is a good one. Even now, I like to make small folios and notebooks just to dip my toe in and when I need a break from big projects 😊💖
Thank you Suzanne! I think a lot of us made the same mistakes to be honest so I imagine there will be some overlap. I'm looking forward to seeing your video all the same though xoxo
Hi Justine! Thank you for sharing your story! I love this collab! It's such a great way of meeting more people in this community and hearing their story and tips! I love the tips you shared! I really need to destash too! Lol.
Nice to meet you Justine ~ thank you for sharing your very wise advise ~ I have such a huge stash for the same reason you mentioned and get too overwhelmed a lot of the time when trying to start a project. Moving forward and learning what works for me is a wonderful and fun goal to explore.
HaPpy Anniversary, Justine, to you and Mandy's group 🎉🎈💕I sooooo enjoy and really really appreciate both of your channels and the Facebook group❣❣So hard right now balancing between my love and need of crafting and working in our yard (our summertime oasis)... two great LOVES and still the same 24 hour days 😜 My ears hear your great advice of not getting too much "stuff", but my fingers get in trouble with Amazon and my car is on auto pilot to Michaels, Joanns and Hobby Lobby.... I am a work in fun and zany progress 🥰 Take care sweet one ~ Blessings~~~
Aww, thank you Deb! It's been a whirlwind year lol 😅 Haha, too true! Before you know it, you've got goodies in your cart and you're checking out before realising what you're doing. The struggle is real lol 😅💖
I love the idea of this collab! Everyone can always learn something, or be reminded of something, that will be helpful to them during their crafting journey. Great video! :) teri
I have just subscribed to you and decided to watch your video on how you found the world of junk journaling. I am laughing because I wish I had found you sooner - I have a stash of items that are so not me. Like you, I found I love botanicals and other things. Luckily I did not go over board with scissors, but I have so much paper and so many stickers and such. I just loved this video and thank you for making me not feel silly for gathering all those things in the very beginning.
Aww, no silliness there at all Helen - I think we've all done it. In the beginning, you don't know what your style is or what you're going to need/use. It only takes practice and time to figure all that out. Most of the time, it's too late and we're then overwhelmed, eek! I don't know if you've seen but I'm starting a challenge this year called "Stashbusting 101", which is for people like you and me who are feeling overwhelmed by all our stuff. You might find some of the videos helpful as we go through the year? Here's the intro video to tell you more about it: ua-cam.com/video/OSa1PtxifGM/v-deo.html 😊💖 xoxo
Thank you for this collab - it’s such a wonderful idea ❤❤ I totally agree about with your advice. I did the same. I’ve also been destashing lately myself too. It’s amazing seeing the difference in what I saved early on and what I do now. I’m even going through my ephemera stashes. So much less overwhelming when we don’t have too much of anything & what we do have is only the stuff we love & use - great advice!!
You're exactly right! I think it helps to come back to it later once you know more about yourself and your interests. But I'm amazed to hear how many of us are in a similar position! 👀💖
Hi, I’m a newbie, and today (Sunday) I just came across your video. How funny I just bought sooo many supplies, because I saw a few videos of junk journals from someone who has an Etsy shop, and I also bought Many of their kits, lol… then I thought oh my I think I went over board. I’ve continue to watch more video, and learned there are so many ways to create pockets etc…without having to buy them …lol… Here’s another funny thing, I’m yet to create my first journal ..hahaha .. I just wanted to share and say thank you for your video.
Aww, welcome aboard lovely!! 💖💖 I totally get it - I went on a buying frenzy in the beginning. I'm now on a buying ban for the year so I can just get on & use the stuff I've got. I hope you have fun crafting! Prepare to get very addicted 🤩💖
Great advice but like you it is a little late for me and I have been spending more toime trying to get organized and destash things I don't use TFS Hugs and Smiles
Yes, I have done exactly what you have done. Just a while ago I realized that and even thought that it would be the advice I would give in this series. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I just cancelled an order of old books 🫣 I think I have enough for a very long while … ❤
Lovely talk. You are beautiful. Glad to know your ventures.
Thank you so much 💖 I'm glad you enjoyed watching xoxo
On point!!!! You speak so true! Tfs 🌷💕🌷🌸🌸
I'm glad you think so! 🤩🤩 xoxo
Great collaboration thank you

Aww, thank you Rose! And I think many of us are still evolving our styles... especially as our tastes change with age too I guess 😅💖
I agree. I'm in the middle of a massive tidy of my craftroom and bedrooms. A big destash. Charities are going to gain as I'm selling a lot
Lucky charities! lol 🙈🙈
Lovely video, Justine! It was good to hear a bit about you and I agree. I'm mostly there, but feel my style is still (always?) forming and evolving. Best wishes and blessings to you!

Aww, thank you Jill! 😘😘

Fantastic advice Justine I wish I'd learnt that before filling my craft room floor to ceiling with stuff🙈🙈🙈
Don't we all! lol... I think a lot of us are in the same position it seems 🙈🙈
I enjoyed hearing your story and tips.
Aww, thank you Heidi! I'm glad to hear it xoxo
