hello, his video came out well I have to redo a steering wheel insert on a car with a real brushed aluminum console!! on the other hand I would like to know what grain you used and if the background must absolutely be glossy black? Many thanks for this video 👍👍
Boy, depends on what your steering wheel is made of.. Metallic work best on a black primer. The black does not need to be glossy. In this case, the plastic was black and I just went from there. grade of sand paper should not be too high. I think the brush did most of the heavy lifting here. (I would say, seal your job after ward. Don't use high gloss if you are going for the brushed aluminum look.
@@YourGeekFix nfortunately i think it is the plastic element but the previous owner painted it glossy black so I already have the base with the difference that it is a paint and not mass dyed!! I think I need to start at 240 or even 320... For the varnish I'm going with a satin finish to have a natural finish a bit like the one you did!! I find your work very realistic !

Wont the paint fade without a primer?
The paint is both paint and primer. Otherwise, use a flat black primer first. Then spray on the metallic paint.

how many grits on the sandblock?
The Orange block is a medium grit. You want enough to scratch, but few enough to not go too deep. Yellow is high, black is low.
