5:39 UP Challenger 3985 Fire out of steam chest! 🔥⚠️❗️❗️
I guess it looked more dramatic than it was. On the other hand, had it not been caught, it could have been VERY dramatic! Thanks for watching. -DeAnn
Very nice DeAnn! My coffee got cold before I got off work and viewed the show. But of course, you always warm things up nicely. Thanks for the Challenger report! Stay safe! Cheers, Danny
Cold coffee! Oh well...at least you we're able to watch the video, even with cold coffee. :-) -DeAnn
🍵 Tea and trains for me.. Hi 🖐️
Christina, you may have the beverage of your choice! 😃 ☕ -DeAnn
Hi DeAnne,
🙏✝️👍
The 3985 is now coming back! It will be donated to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America.
It's an exciting time! -DeAnn
Thanks for another great video. Growing up in the 1950's in Wisconsin along the old Milwaukee Road/C&NW lines I had the honor of actually seeing these beasts at the end of steam in the early 1960's. All the kids in the small town I grew up in (Sturtevant) would run to the tracks when we heard one coming. You could actually hear them coming from 5 miles away, and when they went buy the earth at our feet actually moved. Although I love diesel electric, nothing could and never will replace steam.
I get it...it almost seems like steam is alive! Thanks for sharing your memories. -DeAnn
I still hangout by the Hiawatha and watch the Amtrak’s go by! I could only imagine what you got to see growing up!
@@moonpie22399 The Milwaukee Road Hiawatha was truly a beautiful train! -DeAnn
3985 may not operating anymore, but we can see Big Boy 4014 moving again. 🚂
The good news is that Union Pacific seems ready to get 4014 on the road again...as soon as the pandemic abates. -Tim
I am blind. Thank y’all for the great audio description. There are not a lot of UA-cam videos that have this.
Thank you for the comment and I'm happy we had what you needed to enjoy the video. Thank you! -DeAnn
@@Railfandepot you are certainly welcome. God bless y’all and keep up the great work. Hope to get to meet y’all.
Are you following 3985s rebuild? One question I do have is once she returns to steam are you gonna do a video on it?
There is hope for 3985 to retune to steam. Its just going to be a while.
Heck, if 4014 can come back from near-death-there is certainly hope for 3985! -Tim
Union Pacific Challenger 3985 powers the excursions over Cajon Pass in 1994.

I miss up 3985
Thank you for watching! I do too. What a great machine. I doubt she'll run again, but UP says they will preserve 3985! -DeAnn
What happened to you guys? I miss the Sunday morning coffee and trains :(
I know. Big sad face goes here. We weer derailed by the pandemic, but are trying to get all of our ducks in a row again! Thank you for the nice comment. -DeAnn
I love watching your videos
Thank you so much. I am glad you enjoy what we have for you! It encourages us to do more. Thank you for watching. -DeAnn
Nice show.
Thank you for watching! -DeAnn
I want that model train set you have. Is it the G scale size model train. What are my chances of getting a free model train set or get a free train ride if break into the TV screen to grab it?
The TV Screen may fight you for it. :-) -DeAnn
Doesen't supirse me that they retired 3985. They got the Big Boy up and running. And keep in mind that they also have 844 running non stop.
They already do so much work to keep these two running.
Taken an other loco to their steam program would be to much work.
Yes, Union Pacific Heritage Operations manager Ed Dickens has said that two steam engines is their current capacity as far as trained personnel. As for me, I count us as very lucky UP supports these steam efforts. There are likely stockholders who complain, probably loudly, about this budget line item. -Tim
I believe the challenger was scheduled for rebuilding Is this true
No sadly it was retired in jan 2020
@@HomerPenguin5516 O it's not gonna get is rebuild overhaul Bummer What are they going to do with it then
@@kevinbreaker2683 Never say never...but, UP is pretty clear that for the foreseeable future 3985 will be a static example of the Challenger art. -Tim
