How smooth he looks when skating/stick checking other players he reminds me so much of how Datsyuk used to play its unreal. He looks so fluent with all of his motions, never looks out of place, everything looks timed and calculated. He may never live up to the point/defensive expectation totals of a Pavel Datsyuk, but he looks like a bonafide top 6 player with good two way play and the ability to put up 70-80+points a season
Was really surprised to see Raymond make the lineup to start the season and had no expectation for him to stick on the top line all season. What a nice surprise. Thanks for spoiling us with the comprehensive highlights awood.
Yep. He plays a 200 foot game already and doesn’t seem to get rattled when pressured with the puck. Nothing flashy yet, but no glaring weaknesses in his game either which is fantastic for a 19 year old.
@@TheVlad1616 One of his biggest traits pre draft was his poise in tight spots, and when being pressured. Definitely has translated so far to the NHL. He has a really interesting potential imo.
@@timliddy1 you do realize that the wings had Sieder and Raymond as finalist...add to that Nedeljkovic was third last year. This is a good young core we are talking about.
Honestly they need to change the Calder rules. It’s more interesting to know which young rookie is considered the best than some 24 year old who played with men for years Maybe there can be two trophies
Could not mention his name without saying "leads all rookies" for like 80-90% of the season. Somehow not a Calder finalist. Will never understand what the NHL has against the Wings, but they aren't hiding it anymore.
@@mikebarber12 The NHL has had it against the Wings since at least 2004... The lockout in 2005 was heavily influenced because people were mad that the Red Wings were buying out anyone they wanted. It's like they hate consistent success
You know Raymond is going to be a star player when you score your first hat trick against probably a future Hall of Fame goalie in Marc Andre Fleury.. definitely had to be a boost of confidence to start the season for him!

This aged greatly. You guys are in for a crazy awakening. Should be a solid playoff caliber team for years to go in about 1-2 years. Hopefully this year starts it off.
Yep absolutely; Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson, Berggren, Kasper, Johansson, Cossa, and of course Bertuzzi, and Larkin. So many great draft picks that'll contribute to a future dynasty. Just a testament to how important guys like Håkan Andersson, and now Stevie Yzerman are to this organization. Great drafting and scouting is how we built the last empire, and it'll be how we build the next one.
He was a Calder finalist....he was fourth...the problem was Seider is the best rookie defenseman the league has EVER seen. Kind of tough when you are on the same team as that.
he just need to figure out a program of training and eating and resting and all of that.. to be able to put out a consistent season, and with the red wings improving - so will he, and will be nudging 100 points in a couple of seasons. bingo bango.

Seider and Raymond are so poised for there age it's incredible. If the game continues to slow down for them they're gonna be scary good.

It makes me trust Yzerman and his squad even more when it comes to the recent draft decisions.
The thing I love about watching Raymond is that he plays hard! Always back checking and skating hard. Excited to watch him develop further.

200 foot game that he got taught in SHL. Well done, Frölunda.

I had tears of joy watching this season and I’m realizing that I might be too invested
Your content puts smiles on faces. Thank you as always, awood.
shouldv've been a Calder finalist
Totally. Mind blowing he's not
He was...Raymond was fourth. He lost to Seider.
@@TheFett79 yeah, and so was Mercer, Boldy, Jeannot, Byram, Lundell, Durzi, Caufield, etc. so, you’re right.

Raymond is amazing, not a single person in the league will argue that...Sieder was just better.
Great season overall. Should have been a Calder finalist.
I agree with you 100%
I swear if Bunting wins the Calder due to Toronto bias.
Bunting dyed his hair so it’s not grey.

You aren't lying and where it shows most has been with the draft lottery

I mean Seider did win the calder..

Great video and everybody loves Raymond!!!!!
The best parts are Bert's reactions after raymond scores
Him grabbing the hat trick puck is the best,

a bright future for this team
...Fast fwd to today 😉
I hope everybody loves Raymond
@HockeyFox hope there’s no talks of trading him
@HockeyFox Larkin Bert vrana Raymond and seider better never get traded
Yep, I don't even think Debra would be so annoyed with this Raymond 😁
This guy and stutzle are gonna be leading the way in 3-5 years
Thank you Awood! Absolute legend among the Wings Fandom!
Awood.. thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the work and detail you put in when you post these videos. Lgrw.
Can't imagine how great it must of felt to get your first nhl hat trick in your first year! specially against fluery!

@HockeyFox Like I said, he was on a team with Seider...it hurt him a bit, but I know he is still gonna be amazing!!
Deserved nomination over old man bunting. If seider doesn’t win the Calder no longer has any meaning to it.
Love the thumbnail. I was at that game
Awsome as ever ! please do Berggren with GR next should be Huge
I didn't have the AHL package this year
@@awood40 oh no... 🥺
I feel like Raymond and the Wings need to watch this video to remember how to score 😅
And damn, wish we could've kept Bertuzzi
Good job on the videos
Nice! Thanks awood
Great video but you have to lose the clips with Leah Hextall talking
LMFAO. Yea
Leah Hextall is now working for the CIA, interrogating terrorists. No more need for waterboarding...
