The reason why we make sequilhos small is so that we can grab a lot of them on out hands while running away from our grandma while she yells "GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN"😌
É sobre ergonomia mores 😌✊
She's right~!
That's so cute
SHSHHSHAH YES
Love it!! 😂🤣
Oh! We all love sequilhos. The great part is that they're totally customizable. You can add cocoa powder, strawberry powder, small pieces of chocolate! Delicious. Never saw someone using salted butter, but it's kinda rare for a Brazilian to use salt in a sweet recipe. We're so crazy over sugar that condensed milk is a huge part of our lives. Glad you liked ❤️
I am Brazilian and my family has always used a pinch of salt in baked sweets. My grandma gets mad when we don’t add any she can actually taste the difference 🤣
A little salt can bring out the flavor of sweet things. Make them more rich in flavor.
@Deb A. But a pinch of salt and salted butter are two very different things when baking.
Eu normalmente uso margarina com sal mesmo, pq sem sal é mais caro kkkkkkkkk
I normally use salted margarine, because unsalted margarine is more expensive lmao
@@DJoy222 Probably depends on how salted the butter is. Common comercial salted butter really doesn't have much salt in it.
I’m Japanese Brazilian and a lovely combo is adding matcha powder to the dough. They come out insanely good.
That sounds delicious!
🤤🤤🤤
I might have to try this
Matcha is so expensive though. I like it but can't afford it.
How much matcha do u use?
These are quite similar to a Thai cookie called Kanom Ping. It uses tapioca starch, egg yolk and sweetened reduced coconut milk. Thai people even eat them with tea and coffee
Yes! The second the plate of cookies was shown, my mind immediately thought, oh! that's just like ขนมผิง. And now I really want some :c
Omgoodness I need that recipe for my Indonesian husband he would absolutely love these
@@christinas.5240 check out pailin's kitchen here on yt
That sounds delightful
Omg thank you for this video! I’m married to a Brazilian and when we were in Brazil last year, his neighbors brought over these cookies. I didn’t know what they were but my toddler looooved them. I asked in my broken Portuguese what they were and everyone said sugar cookies. If you ask for a recipe in Brazil they always say “oh it’s nothing special! Just a little this a little that” and you will never know lol. So much amazing food down there and I don’t know how to make any of it!
I can't resist those cookies. Sequilhos are the best, so simple and delicious, I can eat dozens of it in a row 😂❤ Thank your for baking something brazilian! ❤
OMG 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 It’s been so long since I’ve seen a Brazilian recipe in here, I’m so happy!! Also, Emmy pronouncing “Maizena” as “maijena” is the cutest thing!
I mess up with these things too because I'm used to Spanish pronunciation. Always good to learn these things. Like the name Jose is pronounced with the J and not H like with Spanish.
I actually took a second to associate that she was trying to say “maizena” 😂😂 so cute
Mexican here and for a second I was like:.... Is it maijena in Brazil??? And then I read the comments and I'm still confused haha.
But it's the same brand we use here so I would assume it's called the same, right?... Right?
@@angelsanchez6028 nooo the pronunciation in veeery different, it’s more “máízêna” 😂
@@angelsanchez6028 no, the “ze” part is pronounced the same as in Zendaya (I don’t know any other comparison to make, sorry 😂)
Yea for naturally gluten free baking recipes!!! Substitutes have gotten pretty good but I've found those recipes which were created around GF flours & other ingredients are just more tasty. Brazilian recipes are so, so good for this, imo. Would love to see more!
You should look up "biscoito de polvilho". Literaly translates to "cassava starch cookie", but they're not sweet at all. I don't even know how to describe them, but they have the addictability of any chips. I'm pretty sure you'd need access to a international shop to get your hands on cassava anything, but they're gluten-free and SO WORTH IT
@@JessBonomo I will def look into these! Actually, they do sell cassava flour in gluten free shops but it's probably much more expensive than in international shops. Thanks for the tip!
The first 10 seconds of this video alone shows the exact reason I've been watching her for YEARS. She's a goof, so relatable. I feel like we'd get along great 😊 and her videos are always packed full if great knowledge, recipe related and otherwise, that I usually find useful or applicable in other areas of life. We love ya, Emmy ❤️ Thanks for all you do
what abt her ghost costume at the end lmao
I LOVE how detailed and descriptive you are, Emmy.
Yes she's so great at it!
Emmy, I'm going to need that condensed milk playlist! This looks like a great recipe to do with kids. 🥰
It's in the description box 😁
OMG BRAZIL YESSSSS ♡ I make these cookies all the time! It goes great with some hot coffee!
Definitely would love to see the sweetened condensed milk recipe playlist!
My family LOVES sequilhos, but my grandma used to make them like a gnocchi with a fork push on top. It seems like a flatten cylinder instead of a round cookie. It´s easier to shape.
Omg...I am so happy to see you trying a recipe from my country. Thank for all the respect and information that you probably research to make this video!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Sequilhos are so easy and so good! They're amazing dipped on black coffee. I normally put a cube of Goiabada (guava jelly) before putting in the oven. You can add some flavors in the dough like cocoa powder or matcha too.
And condensed milk is the basis for basically every Brazilian desert
The way you describe it reminds me of those flower-shaped cookies with the little hole in the middle. I remember eating these in nursery and wearing them on my fingers like a ring as I nibbled around the outside. They were also very buttery and sort of dissolved.
I completely forgot about those! Holy cow…I am so tickled to have that memory back!
I wore and nibbled them the same way as you described!
I’m super smiling right now, thank you for reminding me 🌼
After a very quick search, I’m thinking possibly Little Dutch Maid Butter Rings 💛
Yes! I loved those cookies and always ate the as a ring!! Haaa--good times!
I'm definitely gonna have to try this one. For one, sounds like something my hubby would love. For two, naturally gluten-free! My niece has celiac so I'm always looking for something she might like.
Also, I bet you could keep these on hand in your freezer to bake up when you have company to go with a cuppa coffee. They are so cute!
And thank you, Emmy, for always being a goof. I feel like we would be good friends in real life.
Pro tip for viewers: always watch the videos to the VERY end, past the video links, for even more goofiness. "I'm a ghost!" 😂😂
You don't need to eat right away after they are baked, you can store then for a long time in a any recipient, pro tip: put a piece or paper towel inside, so it helps to maintain dry
I LOVE sequilhos! They bring so many memories from my childhood. They're perfect to be dunk in some coffee.
I'm always so excited when you make something from Brazil ❤
as someone who can chew through a big package of sequilhos in less than fifteen minutes, this feels like a threat to my diet
also, that has to be the cutest mispronunciation of 'biscoitos de maizena' ive ever heard
Where did she say it??? I watched twice, but didn't see it... hahaha Ela eh uma fofinha!!!!
@@jonathanrio6587 5:00
“Maijena” i died 🥺😂😂
What is the correct pronunciation?
@@heartsdeprived the z in maizena sounds like the one in the word zebra. otherwise, she pronounced it right.
Thank you Emmy for all the good you do in this world.
Emmy, I love and deeply encourage your gratitude for food. You are an incredible inspiration and, simply put, you help me to feel validated in hard times. Food and the science and history behind it FASCINATES me and you help me to live vicariously and inspire me to do more. Thank you!
sequilhos are honestly the best. my favorite type is the ones with guava paste on top
the ones I know how to make use flour, sugar and margarine. you don't knead the dough, just mix. and then you bake until the bottom is nicely browned (but that's my taste though, most people like them blonde)
I love how Emmy has add so much new diversity to my live. So many things I have learned about just from watching her over the years.
The tiny ball snack Emmy is talking about are called "kimi balls" and are popular for small kids.... or kids at heart 🤗❤
Kimmi here that's a close one 😆
I'd used to make those one's but adding passion fruit extract and they were decadent, so addictive 🤤
Seeing you making recipes from Brasil just fills my heart with joy ❤️ So glad you liked our Sequilhos, such a classic cookie. (and now I'm craving them so bad so I will make a batch today)
Talking about the versatility of sweetened condensed milk. I've made peppermint patties using it. It's a bit time consuming, but so easy to make! The filling is made with 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, peppermint oil (to taste), and powdered sugar (about 6 cups). For the chocolate coating, you need chocolate and a couple tablespoons of coconut oil.
Start by mixing the condensed milk and peppermint oil with about half the sugar until it's a paste-like consistency, then taste to make sure the mint level is where you want it. Here's where you want to add more if more is needed. Then add enough sugar so that the dough is supple enough to mold, but not sticky or tacky at all.
Roll out to about 1/4" thickness and use cookie cutters to punch out shapes. Lay out on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. You really don't want them to be more than 2" across, or else dipping in the chocolate can get tricky. Scraps can be re-rolled over and over until it's all used. Freeze for at least 2-3 hours.
Melt your chocolate and coconut oil in a double boiler (or bowl over a pan of water at a low simmer). Once it's fully melted and the oil has incorporated into the chocolate, take off the heat. Dip the patties into the chocolate and QUICKLY fish them out with a fork. Allow extra chocolate to drip off before putting on a parchment lined sheet pan for the chocolate to set.
Keep patties in the fridge or freezer because your chocolate is not tempered. SO GOOD.
Cozinhando com a Ly!!!! Ly has one of the best Brazilian cooking channels!!!!
YES!!!! I love to see you doing more brasillian recipes! You can find sequilhos EVERYWHERE any market, any gas station, anywhere! They are very famous and loved! 🥰🇧🇷
These look like they would do well with some lemon oil or dehydrated lemon juice in them! Can't wait to try them! Almond sounds good too.
Hmm.. I've never heard of ' dehydrated lemon ' ..
I thought about lemon too.
@@racheec2398 You must get some if you are a lemon lover. Magic ingredient to really kick up the lemony-ness of any recipe without having to add more liquid.
Or preserved lemons.
My grandma makes them with lemon juice and yes, they taste really great with it
I really love sequilhos, they're one of the most traditional Brazilian biscuits! In my state (Minas Gerais) it's quite common to offer them as a side treat for coffee in cafés. They can be quite expensive, too, some good quality ones can cost you three times as much as regular wheat biscuits like "rosquinhas (pron.:ros-KI-ña)", kinda pricey but lovable, nonetheless. I really love to see people like you enjoying our food and teaching the world how to make it. Your content is brilliant! Love from Belo Horizonte, 🇧🇷, obrigado!!
These were called melting moments when I was a child. Best ever!
I'm definitely going to try this recipe! I grew up eating Lorna Doone cookies with my grandfather (he's also where my love of coffee came from) & I still love them today.
Everyone loves sequilhos, I could literally eat a bag in one seating. For me is a winter afternoon snack with a nice cup of hot chocolate, so good.
Yeah! I'm brazilian and I love homemade sequilhos
I always made these cookies. I’d get the recipe off the Kingsford Corn Starch box. It did not use sweetened condensed milk but I’ll try yours. I’ve when baked I’ve dipped 1/2 a cookie in melted chocolate (semi sweet) or dusted them with powdered sugar and ground up citric acid to make them taste like the old Lemon Cooler cookies. Now I use True Lemon or True Lime packs and powdered sugar to dust them. I’ve also put a dollop of jam in the middle of the thumbprint then baked them. The recipe I used weren’t hugely sweet so I could get away with dipping in chocolate, dusting with powdered sugar or adding a dollop of jam
I made these yesterday and brought some to the hospital where I work as a nurse. My family and coworkers alike all loved them. The satisfying crunch followed by how they immediately begin to melt in the mouth..... irresistible and I WILL be making them again soon!!!!!
OMG! Sequilhos are the best! 🇧🇷
You may not have used that much Condensed Milk before but they’re a staple here in Brazil lol CONDENSED MILK IS LIFE!
I so so love making these. My kids try and eat the mixture. I usually half the mix and put cocoa powder and then use the cookie cutters and sometimes put the shapes on-top of the plain mix. The kids love them
i made these yesterday and my family loves them , ty for letting us know about this amazing recipe emmy
I first saw you advertise glassesusa two years ago I think? Now I use nothing else. This and the simple health ads were life changing for me, seriously. I used to not be able to afford birth control and had broken glasses for like 3 years lol
I can’t believe this!! You’re the best, Emmy. Much love from Brazil! ❤️🥰
You're like the bob Ross of baking. Such a calming voice
I'm so glad someone else has noticed!! Emmys calm voice has reminded me of Bob Ross since I started watching
Great recipe, thank you for bringing it to our attention! They remind me of the walnut tea balls my mom would make, where she added chopped walnuts (of course) to the mix.
Lemon Zest! And a cinnamon version and a vanilla one! So simple, and one batch could be split for multiple flavors. This. Is. AMAZING! And so is our Emmy.
Was wondering if u could add lemon flavoring..😌🙂
All my years of baking and decorating cakes...and I never thought to smash my butter to make it warm faster 🤯
Emmy we love you, thank you for your content, sweet genuine lady 💕💕
YEEES, Emmy coming through with Brazilian sequilhos!
Emmy has me in a chokehold 😭 love you Emmy! I look forward to watching your videos .. especially if I’ve had a not so good day❤️
Yes, Emmy 👏🏻 I'm also from Brazil, I love having a couple of sequilhos with black coffee, it's marvelous.
the best part of this video was watching you transform your sunglasses. my kids loved the sound effects! thanks for being so genuine Emmy!
Thank you for the playlist, I love you!!! 🥺
We have something simular in Norway called "potetmelstopper" (potet is potato, potetmel is potato-starch).
Mostly eaten at Christmas times, and melts away in your mouth😍❤
Sounds delicious!
@@catherinejustcatherine1778 They are really delicious too!
Krumkaker with multekrem are also heavenly, but finding lingonberry preserves to make the filling can be tricky here in the US.
@@itatane unless there's a nearby IKEA, or Norwegian grocery section or store.
@@itatane I love to eat that😍! I have it most christmases, either creme and cloudberries sepratly, or these too mixed together,it's delicious either way 😊.
I loved to see another brazilian recipe eve tho I don't like sequilhos lol, my mother used to have them like cereal sometimes, with milk or coffe or both! And sometimes she baked them with granulated sugar on top ir simply dusted them in powder sugar, and the round ones are called Tamago Boro! I remember having them as kid as well! Hope you try more brazilian recipes, thank you for another lovely video Emmy 💜
Anyone else think the small wisp of cornstarch in her hair is just precious? Emmy you are the cutest!!
The way you say Maizena is the cutest thing 🥰 Love from Brazil ❤️❤️
2,000 views in 10 minutes. Emmy's videos take off faster than a Tesla. Teslas taste terrible, though, and these cookies are making me really hungry. 😍
Thank you for telling us such a lovely memory of yours!
These look so delicious and easy! Would be amazing with a cup of tea 🫖
Yay!!! As a Brazilian, this makes me super happy 🥰
Oh! You can add some dehydrated coconut to them too 😋
always love a simple gluten free treat!
Oooo I know what I’m making tonight!! Thanks Emmy!!
you’re the loveliest woman i’ve ever seen 🥺
Awesome video Emmy!! those cookies 🍪 are cute as balls!! 😋
These look delicious and so simple! I think I'll have to give this recipe a try sometime 👍
With everything going crazy in the world it’s so wonderful to see your beautiful happy face. Love your videos!!!
Thank you.
I know right!?!! I was in need of some soothing content and Emmy’s videos are like a warm hug. ✌🏻💖
What an interesting recipe, I can't wait to try making these myself! Lovely video as always Emmy, very educational and fun at the same time.
Thank you! I hope you like them.
I will make these today!!!
Love you xo
Love you Emmy!!
I'm so glad you tried theeese!!!! My grandma used to make those all the time for us ❤️❤️
You should try canjica! But idk how you'll find the kind of corn needed to make it. The rest of the ingredients are pretty standard (condensed milk, coconut milk, peanuts and coconut flakes)..
oh my god! so nice seeing you doing things from my country :) would love to see more, we have a lot of different delicious pastries
You were in a quirky, happy mood today and I loved it! I make oddball noises to myself as well when I'm doing a project so it made me feel not alone!😅
These look delicious 😋... We'll have to give this one a try. Thanks 😊 for sharing 💚.
Yay new Emmymade content!
Today has been so heavy. Thank you for existing
Awesome!! Sequilos !!
Ufff one of my favorites right out of the oven.
This seems like a easy and tasty cookie for gluten free people, I'm glad you made a video about these.
Thank you so much for reading my message and trying these for ALL of us. Now to make them and enjoy with my cup of morning coffee❤
Love that these are gluten free and so simple!
I've made lemon meltaway cookies similar to this. They are amazing.
I’m going to have to make these! They look delicious
I bet these would be adorable in pastel colors! It'd be fun playing with food dye and this dough😁
Already know it’s gonna be good and yummy
I can eat probably a hundred of those! Love sequilhos!
Oh yes this is a good one. Its my fav ! Crunchy and melts straight away in the mouth 😋😋
Delightful! Thank you!
This is another recipe I will try soon. Thanks for sharing.
I had similar cookies from an italian brand with amaretto flavor! this type of texture is amazing
Love this recipe. I think I'll add almond extract and then maybe dust with powder sugar.
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Sequilhos are our absolute favorites!
Making these as we speak. Really looking forward to the outcome
You are absolutely adorable and I really want to try those cookies.
I made something very similar with my christmas cookies this year but it did not use sweetened condensed milk. very good! They melt in your hands when you pick them up
Just love your vids!
never been much of a baker, but I'm gonna try this recipe!
Always here for a good gluten free recipe! Will be trying this recipe out for sure!
Where's the recipe?
Yes the fork print, reminds me of my Mums homemade shortbread cookies
My grandmother has a whipped shortbread recipe that has been passed down and it’s very similar to this dough with the cornstarch. It doesn’t have sweetened condensed milk though but I think the this recipe is very similar in taste and texture because of the corn starch.
You know, when I saw these biscuits, I immediately thought about those biscuits you mentioned. I remember those spherical biscuits growing up, and I would always get my mom to buy them for me whenever we would pass by these biscuits vendors in the markets back home. When you said they were Brazilian, I was astonished as to how cultures and cuisines are so… mashed up, if you know what I mean. I love your shows, Emmy~~!
