I'm late to this video but I can clarify CRISPr some as someone who works with it! CRISPR ("clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats") is a tool that has enabled very powerful gene editing since just over 10 years ago. It is written as both CRISPR and CRISPr, probably to emphasize the "CRISP". Scientists like to name things as forced acronyms of unrelated words like that..... Consider a living thing's "genome" (all of it's DNA) to be the blueprints for the entire individual. CRISPR enables us to deliberately rewrite any specific part of the blueprint that we want. In more detail, CRISPR is a collection of molecular machines that can be directed to a perfectly specific location in a cell's genome. Once there, depending on what you include in this collection of molecules, it can make various changes to DNA. Although it takes some engineering and research to do different things to DNA, it's safe to say that any gene editing on the foreseeable horizon will be CRISPR-based. It's very versatile, specific, and amenable to engineering. There has almost certainly been no more impactful biological discovery since it, in 1987. Although CRISPR is powerful, the scenario in the song is currently far from feasible (a shocking indictment of this album's verisimilitude). Even if it were feasible, it is doubtful these results would ever be achieved by mere DNA editing unless it was done *very* early in the organism's development - just as you would have to change a building's blueprint before the corresponding part of it is finalized.
For NU metal references, SOAD comes the closest to me (especially since they have the prog vein as well). This great and very entertaining band comes off somewhat like a clone between SOAD and.... Diablo Swing Orchestra! 😊 (remembering when I was driving during that live stream when Troldhaugen came on and you were searching for references. I had to stop the car to add Diablo Swing Orchestra 😄) I do think you need to revisit that band since you greatly enjoyed them when they were featured way back (so much so, that you were saying at the time that it probably wasn't gonna be any more reactions since you wanted to dive into their full production. Great ride enjoying this album alongside you! Wait... as I'm finishing my post you're just mentioning System of a Down as a reference at the end of the video 😊
Just 10 minutes in, its a lot of fun! Why haven't I heard of this band before?! I really needed something that wasn't too serious. This is super chaotic, catchy and very cartoonish. Love it!
Haha, never head about this band/project before. Some really cool ideas thrown in there, only to get replaced by something totally different a few seconds later. In some ways it reminds me of Mindless Self Indulgence (quite popular band in the early 2000s) that also drastically changed their sound between sections.
Reminds me of Osaka Punch, who also released their new album this year. To be fair, this is actually a decent amount crazier, but still in the same vein. Worth checking out. Do you think you'll do a full album reaction to Closure in Moscow's Pink Lemonade?
I did expect these gentlemen to be Norwegian. Troldhaugen is a place in Bergen, Norway. It was the home of the composer Edvard Grieg. Are they inspired by him? Need to listen through it all.
Hey Brian I hope you see this message, just wondering how long it usually takes for a request to go through? I sent one back in July and I still haven't seen the reaction? Is that the usual wait time? I'm not sure.
I got a LOT of requests in July so it's taking longer than usual to get to them. However I will be practically caught up by the beginning of next month. You can check out the CR Spreadsheet to find a rough estimate of when I'll be checking out your request though. The link is below. Once you click on the link head to the Special Selection tab. There's a list of all of the requests. They're color coded by week and as you can see that fourth group is big -- I'll be doing a week of just requests in order to get through it faster. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1j_tVAV075xhqF3qsRa_I1DtftR4PL9uCpypru-li5BI/edit?usp=sharing
I liked this album, so funny to listen to... You really need to check out the band TrollfesT, a black/folk metal with balkan music elements, their style is wild and so funny as well.
CRISPR gene editing (pronounced /ˈkrɪspər/ "crisper") is a genetic engineering technique in molecular biology by which the genomes of living organisms may be modified. (this was the first line of wikipedia) Got a nobel price. Less than 2 decades old. Already revolutionizing biology. It is crazy what we can achieve today!
I'm late to this video but I can clarify CRISPr some as someone who works with it!

I just adore these guys.. I am still holding out for a new album from them. I listen to this front to back at least once a month.

I always forget about DSO so I completely agree, we need more of them on the channel.
Dang, I was thinking of recommending some of there stuff at some point. Oh well, you beat me to it. Good stuff!

As of right now it's not planned.
Avant garde metal

Most of them have nordic names so there is that

Out of all of the eccentric ideas on this album, this was easily the least expected and most absurd for me. And I loved it :)
Fun album

I LOVED the first 2 albums but they really just lost me trying to be too meme-y
Flamingo Overlord is such a fun album : )
Somewhere between Primus and Clowncore on a scale of insanity? While I'm not feeling the need to rush and buy this, it's incredibly well done.
That's me. I'm glad I've heard the whole thing but it's not going into any rotation.
STILL WAITING.
For a new Troldhaugen album, they're fucking brilliant!
Matthew Bell, You made it!
Nice dude haha
love them, so much fun
46:25 no wat
