Don't get Braces!

- Braces may just be a cover up for the real underyling issues. You should be told what they are and how to fix them before you simply straighten teeth. You may be doing nothing for the health of your face and jaws, all in the name of cosmetics. And many times, that won't be stable for long.

@@nayzethaguirre03 you just want to know why you need them so you get the most out of them!
Thank you. So many people have this problem and are unaware. I am going make sure my children are aware and share with other mamas. Thanks. Keep up good work!
Thank you for sharing this.
The 4 teeth removed before braces probably had something to do with the joint pain.
you can get joint issues and airway issues just from the braces alone. Braces puts pressure that stunts jaw growth and eventually leads to guaranteed wisdom teeth impaction. We are all meant to fit all of our 32 teeth.
additionally braces alters jaw positioning which does harm the joints sometimes and leads to tmjd.
Well I had impacted wisdom teeth and jaw pain without braces! LOL
@@iParisdenise crowding is just another outcome of deficient facial development. So is TMJ pain…
Lots of symptoms are due to deficient development. Braces just don’t fix anything other than the cosmetic issue most of the time.
I was supposed to get braces and extractions, but I was so non-compliant that I had to be sedated even for a cleaning and already refusing foods that would stick to/between my teeth (parents were worried that I'd stop eating altogether with braces). I dodged a bullet alright.
I'm not a dentist, but learning that retainers were for life made it clear to me that braces and retention were a band-aid.
I was thinking about getting braces too but after getting through many videos and research I decided not to get it. I will try to fix my posture and probably chew moderately. No way I am letting them pull healthy teeth out
@@ajax1472o my god! I am going through exactly the same experience, are you happy with your decision and can you please elaborate on your feelings about not getting braces so that I can be inspired cause my mother wouldn't let me put braces on?
I didn't notice anything until he pointed it out
I am scared I got braces at 13 years . I have retainers in my mouth. If I face any side effects shall I remove it ?
I've my braces on and hate watching this video tbh🙄
I’ve a question, what about the underbite? How it can be treated without braces?
Amazing information I knew it was something like this !!!
What about protruded teeth I have been ridiculed all my life braces were the only solution what do you suggest please?
It's too late for me 😭. I wish I knew this before. Two extraction and braces totally destroyed my face.
@@SudeepKs-ps3ix there’s always ways to help. I’m a success story myself! Dr smith
Try mewing
The braces didn’t give u those problems it’s the breathing thru mouth
It did
braces does because they put pressures that push the jaw in the airway while your growing so it speeds up the bad aeffects of mouth breathing and doesnt address it.
@@lerearose8659 agree. Braces are usually a cosmetic solution to the deficiencies that occur because of factors like mouth breathing. They don’t fix the remaining problems that many still have.
You got me scared lol. I am 20 and got braces because I had gaps I didn’t like but I always was a nose breather and have always been mewing since middle school to tighten my jaw lol but they also found how my jaw doesn’t go all the way down when I smile so they have me in rubber bands now.
I have one tooth growing in the wrong direction bc a baby tooth never fell off. I was told I need to get braces and that tooth removed.. I’m not interested in getting it AT ALL. I love my smile but I’m not willing to go through this procedure. 😭😭
real i got braces at 11 i was forced to i got a narrow palate and they never fixed it and my breathing got worse and I grind my teeth out and my bite is so much worse than before and my jaw set back and i got tmj problems now.
The exact same thing happened to me I'm 17 now and my parents won't pay for me to get it fixed I've been dealing with the pain for years now and I can't seem to get help. It's really hard to live like this and I've never talked to anyone who has the same symptoms so this is comforting thanks for commenting!
@@JackWilliamson-fh5bx yeah im almost 16 now luckily my parents are taking me to see tmj specialist but idk how my jaw and teeth will ever be stable again and my back bottom molars are destroyed from the grinding sooo
@@lightthatfire4012 if you all live anywhere near Tulsa, I’d love to help. But there are solutions! Finding the right dentist is the hardest part.
Great and honest video. I am about to get braces put on in a week. I just got a cephalometric x-ray which she reviewed with me. She commented that my lower jaw is slightly forward. Some of my teeth currently hit (interfere) a bit (per my dentist) which is the only reason why I am getting them. Cosmetically I don't care and they are not too bad (had braces when I was younger.) I am also missing the tooth that sits just in front of my back top molar. She said she can move it forward 1 full space- seems like a log (1/2"?)
What questions should I ask her to make sure I don't have future structural, joint/airway issues as a results of the braces? Is there a test or way to know? Do you do consults if I send you the X-Rays? If you want to contact me, my email is in my channel, under About.
Evening, great questions. The most common cause of what you’re describing is a deficiently sized maxilla which means the upper jaw is undersized. This is what normally creates an issue with front teeth hitting one another. When we take records, we take a 3D conebeam CT and along with the patients photos and scan of their teeth. Those records are sent to the Facial Beauty Institute for evaluation of your skeletal relationship (upper and lower jaw). With this info, we know how to properly develop or remodel the upper jaw to align the bite, ensuring the joints and airway (etc) are all properly aligned. Without those details, we couldn’t send off for your evaluation. A cephalometric x-ray wouldn’t suffice for the radiologists and evaluation of your tracings. We’d be happy to help if there was a way you could gather that info but not all practices will even have a conebeam CT at this time. -dr j
@@BreatheMD Thank you very much. I spoke with her today and she said I was fine. She said my arch would only get bigger so if anything I would breathe better. She said those other structural issues are usually more of a concern when you pull teeth and the arch gets smaller. She looked at a full set of xrays (18) and the cephalometric xray and said this is going to help me on multiple fronts. I think it is a cone beam- very modern looking machine. I saw the image- had the whole side of my head, neck, up to my ear level. She has mostly all 5 star reviews from my local town. She is confident and seems extremely competent (strong educational credentials too) so I believe I am in good hands. She is also working in concert with my amazing local dentist- he also gave the greenlight. Regardless, I really appreciate you making me aware to even ask these types of questions. Everyone thinks of the cosmetic benefits but you brought up far more important considerations. They go on Thursday- clear on top, metal on bottom.
@@BreatheMD how much do you charge for that? I’m in Orlando but you sound like you know what your doing. I’ve got some of the same things you had going on, our face structure is similar. I clinch and grind, my posture is good and I don’t snore. I’ve got good teeth but my jaw is really messed up, it pops a lot and doesn’t open up and down all the way, it’s got a offset sort of thing going on.

@@BreatheMD I'm scared that my orthodontist won't be able to use growth to optimize my facial aesthetics
I think my face is fucked up because from the age of 5 I aggressively bite the inside of my mouth and stuff...
So it means we should not get braces anymore but what about the confidence and the insecurity you feel with your crooked teeth? Can you live your life like that.
Yepp, sure can ,😁
I am choosing to live with crooked teeth, I will not compromise my health for aesthetics, I suggest fixing your overall posture
