Amiibo Shelf

- Its been a little over a year, but I wasn't sitting on my ass! The arduino is now updated to work with all the amiibos visible (there were a LOT of memory issues to deal with), a rotating platform was included. The shelf was also stained and sealed. Finally there were some lights installed ;D.
Anyhow enjoy my collection and shelf :).
Edit May 2nd: Thank you all for the overwhelming response on the shelf! I wanted to respond to a couple of things at once. First off, I'm trying to read through all the comments. This includes those written here as well as on the reddit posts:
www.reddit.com/r/AmiiboCanada...
www.reddit.com/r/amiibo/comme...
and finally on Kotaku:
kotaku.com/this-fans-incredibl...
(just note that my username on those sites are BerryAaku :P
CaliburLord is a reaaaaally old IGN I used to use)
I'm also trying to get to replying to all the comments, especially those that provided feedback. Please know that if I didn't respond to your specific message, I definitely did read it (and probably upvoted it)! Thank you so so much for all the positive responses!
Secondly, I wanted to isolate some of the feedback that I've received and will be addressing sometime in the future. The primary one is that the servo motor spins waaaay too fast and needs to be slowed down. Next the motor itself is too loud and takes away from the songs. I will definitely look into some of the suggestions made, though with my schedule coming up, this may be a super long term thing, and unfortunately it might be something that i might address YEARS from now...
Third, a LOT of people have been requesting a video with the guardian amiibo being spun LOL I will definitely put that video out sometime by next week.
Fourth, many people also want to see what happens when a non-smash amiibo is scanned. I had to get creative with the intro portions, and most of them are just sound clips of things that the characters might say (so for example a weird squishing sound for squidboy from Splatoon....). I know. It's weird. It's not perfect, but I love it :P. This is another thing that I might post by sometime next week (or the week after)
Finally, a lot of people were asking how to make this whole set up. I created a tutorial which I posted on a previous video that you can find here:

I hope some try making this and create other awesome projects like this one :).
Good luck and thank you once again to everyone that left any kind of response! - Ігри
BEST AMIIBO DISPLAY EVER!!!!!
MALICEDOLL79 Agreed!
Agreed x2
I've never seen this before OH MY GOD
I would pay so much money for this...
how much?
Yes defenetly
Would $100 be enough? In Canadian Dollars? :P
I would probably pay 500 pounds
Alex Fernandez I’d pay 50 just for bayonetta Kirby and the spinning thing
Plot twist
He’s the master and crazy hand.
XD
OH MY GOD.......
spin the guardian
Sounds like a board game.
This seems to be a crowd favorite request. Ill post a video with the guardian spinning something this week! Stay tuned LOL
CaliburLord K Please buy a Princess Daisy amiibo
LOOL student debt is starting to ram me in my nether-region. Unfortunately that means I'm only buying LOZ amiibos moving forward :$
I have a spare one that I will gladly send, sealed in a box.
Having this will make my life complete
But every year new amiibos will come...
Your life will neverrrr be complete
this would be cooler if when he put down three or more characters in a row it would open up a door to his gaming room or something
A combination, for example, Zelda link and Ganon would open a door
New argument for OOB collectors.
I bow to your supreme amiibo collector status.
This is going to need an update
I would take my amiibo out for this shelf O__o
This is AWESOME!
Don't you think it's spinning a bit too fast?
Ive tried adjusting it, but setting it to spin any slower and the servo doesnt move at all unfortunately :(
CaliburLord K it would probably be more work than you'd be interested in doing, but any way to set up some sort of reduction mechanism? That would allow you to keep your current servo but give you flexibility to fine tune the speed the amiibo spin around.
You need to add gears and transmission then :p
With a servo you could just change the steps in the program. Servo no stepper one of those. Either way get the proper one and set the steps per second to be lower and you are done no need for reduction gears and such.
How would I go about doing that.... Lol all my education was in health care, so even the arduino coding portions were super tough and I got a lot of help from my friends.
Fair warning
UV lights and direct sunlight can damage or discolor figures if over exposed
not bashing or anything just advice make sure tje lights aren't uv
They are more than likely rgb leds
Finally a use of the Arduino for something other than school
This is amazing, I love it!
You did great making this mate!
Oh hey! I remember your old video showing the original one. Looks so much better with the stained wood and spin mechanism. Good job!
I absolutely love this. Great job.
I remember watch the first version of this shelf in 2015. Glad to see that you have made much progress!
Thanks for following along! Sorry its taken so long, studies, jobs and life got in the way :P
Seven years had passed and guardian never spinned
very cool shelf, the spinning top is a bit loud tho, other then that, top notch!
Sigh yeup that's feedback that's been fairly consistent :P. I'll start looking into alternatives once my LOZ extension is done
Will you make a kickstarter for this? Because if you make one, I'll definitively throw you some money to have a shelf like that!
(If you do make one, will there be an option to change some songs that play? Just curious...)
Dick Gumshoe he probably cant put songs on it because they belong to nintendo
@@user-zh6wi8hc7j
He could make it to so you could set what ever song you want to play for each amiibo.
So something as funny as "like like big butts and I can not lie" for smaus.
Or the "pepsi man theme" for captain falcon.
This is fantastic, I love it. You've done a fantastic job and i'm so happy you've taken the time to share it with us. Great work and I hope to see more in the future.
I know it's not out yet but I'd love to hear what you would do with a Bayonetta amiibo, that game has some great music and I think it would work a treat.
I'm not buying anymore figurines :$. It's a hobby thats starting to take a heavy toll on my wallet LOL. Especially since 99% of the time I had to buy my amiibos from some scalper off of ebay. I'm only really buying LOZ amiibos moving forward. Great game, I was so glad when they released it on the Wii U (and ported the original as well), its a shame that nintendo isnt releasing enough amiibos to meet the demand yet
That's understandable =) again, thanks for showing us, it was great to see.
yes I've heard that is a really big problem which is sad.
I live in Australia and there's always been plenty in terms of supply, I've even sent two to one of my friends in the US because he had such a problem trying to locate them.
and yes, I've had a great time with Breath of the Wild =) I bought it on Wii U and no matter how much I explore the world, i'm still finding something new every time I play it ^^
This is absolutely incredible, someday I will definitely build one of those.
That shelf is so cool!!!!
Awesome setup man!
This brings tears to my eyes
so jealous, looks great man
I'll have to see if I can build on or have one built. This is awesome.
That shelf looks awesome 💛💜💚
DAMN! That's awesome!
Hot dang! This is amazing! Wonderful job!!!
Awesome custom shelf :)
That is wicked cool!
This is incredible!
Awesome job!
Thank you! :)
That's literally so amazing, I dream of doing stuff like this
now this this is a legend
That...spinny thing is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's awesome, great job :)
Nice amiibo collection and I subbed
Best amiibo shelf ever
It’s like a record player. Awesome!!!
Unreal I love this.
Thanks a bunch :)
pretty cool! thanks for putting up the plans on how to make it. :-D
This is great man!
Love the entire concept!
I'd recommend if you are going to use plywood, make sure to cover the edges of the boards with solid wood. You can also use a finishing nail with some wood putty to hide the nail holes.
I'd use solid wood and go with pine if cost is a factor. Pine can look look fantastic if you use some wood stain.
Again, awesome project!
Ill definitely look into the wood putty! I did want to cover up the holes, theyre less noticeable in the video but pretty apparent irl! Thanks for the tip :)
This is amazing!
This is AMAZING
Looks like he's gonna have to make a few extra shelves for the ultimate amiibos
It's...Glorious.
happy 132nd anniversary nintendo!!! :3
This is so cool!
ROCK STAR right there!!
Omg that's so freaking cool!
I appreciate a fellow spirit tracks fan :)
Now youve got a big job for the new smash amiibos
If possible, may we see a video of the inside of the shelf? I would like to see how you have your LEDs and speakers wired/set up, as well as the spinning platform. I'm also curious as to the dimensions of the shelves and the circles/holders size. You've inspired me to attempt to make one of these myself. Amazing job!
This is the coolest fucking thing ive seen in my entire life.
That is AWESOME!
Best thing ever, straight up
It plays the Spirit Tracks overworld theme with Tink. Now it's ultimate.
You've been working.
Great shelf, love everything except the spin. Thats just me tho. Otherwise excellent job.
so dope, nj 👌
Love it!! I do agree spinning too fast and too loud. I also think the stained wood is an odd look for an amiibo collection, maybe black or white? In addition, what are your plans to expand the shelving? Collections do tend to grow. Love it!!
HOW THE FRICK DID YOU MAKE THAT?! THATS A MILLION DOLLAR MACHINE RIGHT THERE!
You made it yourself? I love it!
That’s really cool actually
This is so cool! Can you do a tutorial on how to build it please?
Dude I need more videos of this
I would really love a video on how to make one or an instrcutables post. Something... I would totally invest the time and resources into making one for myself
Dang thats amazing
dude this is the most awesome thing I've seen... and I've seen a lot of pretty cool things! Do you have a slot for Cloud, bayonetta and Corrin?
Wow is so awesome love it thanks for showing 👍
that is pretty badass :D
Aha thank you thank you ~
The definition of everyone is here
Cool, good job
I like how you put toon link next to robin and i main and second main robin
Nice shelf
great job!!
This is really awesome! How did you build it?
He probably needs to add another row for the Smash Ultimate newcomers and brought back veterans. Pichu, Young Link, Ice Climbers, Snake, Wolf, Inkling, PT Red & Green, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Ridley, Simon, Richter, Chrom, Dark Samus, Daisy, Isabelle, King K Rool, Incenaroar, Ken, Piranha Plant, Joker and the last 4 coming too. 26 new Amiibos.
this is the littest thing i've ever seen
This is epic
I bet his bank is calling him right now as we speak
Yeah my dude that is way to fast.
That’s really cool
hey whats the distance you have between each amiibo? I'm going to make my own shelf with the holes for each stand to fit into
Amiibo is the best character ever!
make sure to update this, ultimate gave us like 30 new amiibos
That’s amazing
I want one of those for this christmas😍
Woah!! That's so Cool!!!!! 😲
Loving the work this and the original creator has inspired me to make my own. Couple of questions, 1)the memory issues is that because you added a motor or because of the extra amiibo? how did you get around this if its down to amiibo, iv seen the original code not really a programmer but is that what you used (originally at least). Also are you able to share the music files? or at least how did you get the ryu opening from smash bros? was that from a disc or did you edit all the music yourself. Apologies for all the questions and cheers for posting all the helpful info
Damn this could be put up at stores with amiibos which are barely any stores.
Does the top part with the stereos come off so you can add another shelf for amiibo?
How did you get the display to play the theme songs of each character and the Smash announcement?
Yup. Everyone is here.
Suuuuper nice!
That's dope...
He has to update that for a inevitable Joker amiibo!!
