I still need to sand the wood down, paint, and install the LED lights, so it's still a work in progress! My unicorns are at my university so they aren't showcased in this video (other than King Dedede). Enjoy!~

Edit July 21st, 2015 Currently I'm working on making a platform that spins when an amiibo is placed on it, as well as a light ring around the platform :P

Wow that is awesome. Just looked over the tutorial and looks easy enough if you know how to solder but definitely a lot of work. Looking forward to seeing the complete project!

CaliburLord K What colours are you going for? Pure white? Mixture? Decals/Stickers?
Im thinking staining now instead of painting. Its going to be a dark color (probably maroon or black!)
CaliburLord K Cool, you should add lights behind the Amiibos on the back peice of wood. I think it would look cool.
Charles L. Yupp there are lights underneath each shelf. I had them removed while I was sanding though!

DO ALL OF THEM!! Make a vid and show all of them. Also you should put a glass or plastic door to open and close to protect amiibos from dust. You should also make and sell one for $1.5. Im sure people would buy it.

So I made a video with the amiibos (going through the waves), I've finished them till wave 3. I still need to post them up though, BUT I only kept about 30 seconds of each amiibo up cause of potential copyright issues with the songs... aha who knows it maybe taken out either way. Kirby is Kirby Smash by Foxsky!

How thick is the wood on the top of the case? I saw your later video first. I have a custom case I built, and hoped I could mount the arduino invisibly under the top wood... 3/4in wood sheet. The reader should work, right?

bh0294 That's what my dad suggested too, a stain instead of a solid black. Things to consider, things to consider. The LEDs are set though, since they can change to any color! New video soon (hopefully) showcasing that! Thanks!
CaliburLord K My dad and I made a entertainment system for my room. We did it half painted and half stained. So you could probably do the outside of it Black and make the shelves stain. But it should true out great.
bh0294 Hmm kk that's another idea to consider! Especially cause that way I'll still use the paint (I already bought that before discussing with my dad :P)
CaliburLord K It will look great however you do it. The paint/stain just gives it more dimension instead of just blending.

How long did it take to make?
DatEnderPiggy The shelf took about 6 months to make :P (about 1 hour every 2-3 weeks), and the arduino stuff took about 2 days (about 4 hours each day). First time soldering and stuff so it took a bit longer. When I was remaking a second set to work on outside of the shelf, that portion only took about 3 hours total because I had soldering down at that point!

meta knightz I have it working with all the smash amiibo released so far. I just finished editing the sound clips for the non-smash amiibo. I still havent gotten around to coding them as of yet though!

Aha I came across another video by ModusPwnin where he used the same NFC reader to output the songs, got in touch with him, and built it myself :). I offered to make a detailed tutorial and he said that'd be great. And now here we are!

GoldenOskar64 That may just be cause of the editing I did when converting the songs (I cut the songs here and there, and I think it may have added silent spaces in certain songs). If its not that, then that may be something I look into after I'm done with the wave 4 + nonsmash amiibo!

Samm Carbo I'm fairly certain the mario party ones are identical to the ssmb ones (except for toad obvs). I don't remember for sure though. I'll check the next time I go home!

Maloki Litton Umm the interactive portion I'm assuming you're wondering about? (so basically the boards and shields) I would probably sell that for about 120. I think without tax it was 85$ and that was for the parts that weren't even soldered (for the wave and nfc shield)

KanagJ I havent figured that out yet. ModusPwnin (came up with the idea and modified the code to make this work), just sent me a tutorial on how to code the thing, so I'm gonna play around it a bit after this friday!

Funny Stuff Channel I did look into that when I realized I was being slammed by the low memory on the arduino. To be honest I couldnt find a simple answer. I believe there are workarounds to get all the shields to work on the raspberry pi (such as the arduberry I think it's called). I kinda stopped looking when I realized the shelf itself wouldnt hold more than 60 amiibo, and I would need another interactive bit to code for the next 60 :P.

Boblee Cooper Yeah someone from Reddit just asked that, I've been working on the shelf for a while, so none of the latest amiibo work I believe... I think. Aha I still need to figure that out, but I'll put up a new video as soon as that's figured out!

Beebat Yeah that's what I'm definitely thinking too! I need to look into it a bit, but I wanna see if the different mario's can play different sounds as well, need to play around with it a bit :P. I think those ones I'll have more difficulty with cause I think they have the same NFC ID. The splatoon ones will definitely have different sounds though!
The Gold/Silver ones for sure have different ID's. They come with Gold/Silver bases in Mario Party 10.
