I also need a way to get him to doctor appointments and a band I can stand up in is essential because I have a bad back, would you be able to create a van that would work for us or have a recommendation. Thanks, a lot of the build is as a result of my wife Lyn. I would run into a very difficult part of the build that I didn’t know what to do with and she would say “ I think it should be like this, or I don’t like it like that, figure it out” so it would push me to find a way to do it. I would have the urge to just “get ur done” but I knew I would only have one chance to do this project right and would live with it for a long time. So this is what I ended up with.

Thanks for the compliments. My wife and I really liked the look of the African Walnut when we saw it in a lumber store near me that carries exotic woods. It was quite pricey but beautiful!
That lifted bed with the dinette below is just awesome. Exactly what I'd want---You can sit with the rear doors open and even add a bug screen---Just perfect
I have a bug screen that I will install when I go on a trip when I think it will be needed. We do sit there to relax with the back doors open…..works great!

That is so gorgeous! The cabinets are incredible! I love how finished the back looks from the outside! I wasn’t expecting there to also be a shower! The way you bent the material for the shower reminds me of what the engineers had to figure out for the cyber truck!

I would say that I have over $50,000 in materials in it. Also that doesn’t take into consideration that I and a couple friend put in 5 months of labor. We are very pleased with the results.
Sometimes one wonders what if you took all these inventors together under one roof and they design the ultimate van for all those who have the means but not the skills. Another masterful build by this fellow. Thanks for showing us.
Absolutely beautiful! So many of the UA-camrs are in and out for repairs every week riding around in junk vans. How do you say your not spending time and money.
Patrick, this is a winner. I love both the outside and inside of this van, functionality and esthetically. All of the details were so well-thought-out. The extra seat. I love the bed, the frame is so beautiful. All the cabinetry is beautiful. The flip out table at the door is my favorite. I see so many builds with that table held by a wire & I think, "that's not going to last and is limited in weight capacity ". This one is sturdy and strong, I like that a lot. This couple did a great job.
That fold out table is the best design I've seen. Most other vans will have some type of cable. I'm adding to my comment. The build quality and materials are the best. I'm in awe of the workmanship and all the fabrication. I like the 2500 over the 3500. Hopefully I can find a nice used Sprinter with a gas engine.
Can you point us in the right direction to a link for the outside table sliders ? I see they have an extra pull out to support the table at the joint ?
Beautiful build! It's easy to see that he is a cabinet builder, gorgeous cabinets and the sofas in the back are fantastic. I can't say enough good about this van. Love it!

@@Erin-ThorI’m glad you like it! My wife and I had seen a lot of the RV vans at the Hershey show and got different ideas of what we liked and didn’t like. The ones we thought were nice were well over the $200k price which was out of our price range so we decided to build out a new Mercedes 2500 4x4. We think it turned out great and have used it two times so far (way to busy in my cabinet business). Hopefully we can use it more in the next couple years.
Holy cow!! When he first showed the dinette convert into a bed, I was thinking for all the work he put into the bed doesn’t look comfortable. Then he busts out the ceiling bed. That is an awesome feature. Easily one of the nicest conversations I have ever seen!!

I built all the upper cabinets like I would if I was doing a customers kitchen with under cabinet lighting. I don’t like seeing any wires running on the inside or the cabinets even though it costs more and takes more time. My philosophy is do it right once saves money.

I haven’t had the grand kids on a trip yet but I know they will love their bed setup. The table setup will seat six adults comfortably for a dinner. We have had four adults on the first trip, and the top bed is very comfortable with the awning windows and the max air fan in July in Alabama for 5 weeks. Only used the air conditioner a handful of times at night.
I’m here in Georgia so I consider you a neighbor and you have certainly checked all the boxes with your incredible build! Awesome job and I hope you and your wife have many years of traveling around to enjoy your creation!
Hi Patrick, enjoyed your van build. It is really a lot in a small RV. I live just across the bay in Delaware. I have lived here since 1961 when my father that was in the USAF was transferred here from California. My wife and I camp a few days, to a week at a time about 8 months of the year. We have a 21 foot camping trailer. We usually camp at state parks in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. I like to grill on my Weber gas grill. Have 3 Weber gas grills, a Go-Any-Where, a Weber Q2200 and a larger 3 burner at home. We usually invite friends and family to come out and camp when we go. One of the most satisfying things I ever did was to be an assistant scout master about 25 years ago. I was invited to the weddings of 4 of our scouts. The scout master is full time camping, I talked to him last month. I owned an automotive air conditioning and radiator shop for 30 years then after selling it became an electrician. You did a perfect job of matching the plinth to the floor. Good eye! I loved the attention to detail, like dovetailing the drawers and the way the couches were upholstered and the beautifully finished metal fabrication. This van is a class act!
Thanks, I started out with a 1 1/4” piece of maple and cut out the back so that it would lip over the luxury vinyl flooring and then scribed it around all the Mercedes curves, then screwed it from under the van with stainless steel screws then sealed around all the screws so there is no water penetration. Thanks for noticing
Michael, thank you very much for the compliments! You are right it is my first build and I built this van as best as I could with the limited funds. I went to the Hersey RV show and didn’t like all the plastic in the factory builds and how cheaply they made most of the other items in the van. I new I could do better.
The cabinetry helps show the nice clean lines with the inset doors, drawers, and dummy door panels. The white with brown glaze, which is a hard catalyze finish, sets it off nicely and is very durable.😊
So many great ideas!!!! My favorites are the table and jump seat , and the seats that open and stay up with cushions attached - no need to find somewhere to put them in a tight space. Love that no holes are cut in the sides
Thanks, the jump seat and the Lagun table were the last two things I did on the build and I will only use one at a time on trips depending on our priorities.
Patrick I agree on everything you said, this build is top notch. I’m sure he spent many nights laying in bed trying to figure out how he was going to make something work or fit. Cabinetmakers are a step above when it comes to any kind of woodworking and this video proves it. There was no penny pinching on this project, that’s for sure! Thanks

I’m a retired finish carpenter and have had a few sleepless nights myself, I respect your skills. The countertop and table is beautiful. I’ve never seen anyone use straps for a motorized bed, you may have started a new trend. Thanks for letting us see your motorhome.

Like any good contractor you need to know when to get things done by others that will help make the job look great and do all the things that you do great yourself. Then things can get things done close to perfection on a build like this. I’ve been in my own business for 35 years and continue learning from others also!😊
Thanks for the compliment! I used a lot of high end materials that you can’t see throughout the whole build to last for the long haul. Havelock wool from front to rear for the best installation and all stainless steel strapping and hardware to mount tanks, air tank, compressor,and horns. The running boards and roof rack are all aluminum.
Don, my dad was in a van club back in the 70’s and use to customize vans. So it makes me NOT a great fan of the Winnebago’s of the wold. I was thinking about buying one but after seeing yours I’ll build my own.

It was quite an undertaking. When I finished it I was glad that everything worked out just right. It gets the bed out of the way to open up the whole back of the van, basically giving you twice as much space as a fixed bed. I’m glad you liked the video!

This was one of the best van builds I've seen yet. I wasn't a fan of the drop down beds nor transforming tables + benches until I saw this. I especially liked the extra supports as that was always a concern of mine. I love the placement of it in the back with the doors right there for easy access, and so much more to this build. Just absolutely one of, if not THE best designs I've seen! Amazing job!
What a great comment! I appreciate it very much and thanks for actually watching the video all the way thru. A couple other commenters I had to remind them that the bed has two fixed positions. One when it is just the two of us (all the way down to the cabinets) and then down to the supports I made for when there are others staying in the bottom area. That splits the two areas into two equal spaces so each has its own head room. By the way, the supports are made out of very light weight solid cedar.

Amazing quality and detail...and it's gorgeous! I've been "dreaming" about a dinette like that with a lift bed over it! I just love that van. The only "adjustments" I'd want are to have the bed stop a bit higher up to give the folks sleeping below more headroom, and I prefer a gas engine. Beautiful build!
Thanks, all the thoughts of how I was going to accomplish this layout came together after much planning. Plans changed a couple times to get this layout to work. And yes it works very well. Thanks again for the compliments. I didn’t show the actual safety blocks that I made to keep the bed up another 14” when there will be people sleeping under the bed. It divides the area on the top and bottom sleeping quarters in half. That’s approximately 25” each. Hope that clarifies the bed situation.
It’s my first van build that I had to figure out, layout, and put together. A lot of sleepless nights thinking of how I’m going to solve the next step in the build. At the end I was quite pleased.
This is an excellent build. Fine craftsmanship, well thought out. Looks very nice inside. The ceiling looks good and the ceiling over the bed looks very nice. Electrical systems clean and neat. Large fresh water tank. Decent bathroom. Plenty of storage. Lots of power, .very nice rig. Intelligent cushions on the rear seating. Lower bed gonna be tight with the upper bed down. Overall a nice clean good looking functional rig. Good job Patrick.

I want to buy a travel trailer so bad. I have been researching and pricing them for a good six months but they are just built so cheaply that is what has stopped me. You would think for how expensive they are they would be built so much better. Maybe one day I will find one that is built well and take the plunge….lol. Thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot! The Mercedes ,I think personally, is the hardest to build like I did with the walls being curved. For instance the bed had to be about 16” narrower when it’s up than what the walls measure when down. It works out great though because there is 8” between the bed and the awning windows which allows a lot of air flow in and then up and out of the max air fan above. All the cabinets backs and the shower wall are all curved to maximize storage and room. Made some stuff for a friends Dodge Promaster and they are simple square boxes but also looks that way. Not the look I was going after.
We picked out this color to order the van and the wheels and tires were waiting for the van to come in for about 9 months. It’s a 2021 ordered in April of 21 and didn’t get delivered until 1/13/22. Had most of the hard materials before it ever showed up!

Beautiful cabinetry work, lots of people don’t have that nice of a kitchen in their own homes. Great scribe work accenting the curves of the Mercedes. Good work 👍🏻 Best van build out I’ve seen.

You did a perfect job of matching the plinth to the floor. Good eye! I loved the attention to detail, like dovetailing the drawers and the way the couches were upholstered and the beautifully finished metal fabrication. This van is a class act!

Thanks, I started out with a 1 1/4” piece of maple and cut out the back so that it would lip over the luxury vinyl flooring and then scribed it around all the Mercedes curves, then screwed it from under the van with stainless steel screws then sealed around all the screws so there is no water penetration. Thanks for noticing

Michael, thank you very much for the compliments! You are right it is my first build and I built this van as best as I could with the limited funds. I went to the Hersey RV show and didn’t like all the plastic in the factory builds and how cheaply they made most of the other items in the van. I new I could do better.

The cabinetry helps show the nice clean lines with the inset doors, drawers, and dummy door panels. The white with brown glaze, which is a hard catalyze finish, sets it off nicely and is very durable.😊

My favorites are the table and jump seat , and the seats that open and stay up with cushions attached - no need to find somewhere to put them in a tight space. Love that no holes are cut in the sides

Thanks, the jump seat and the Lagun table were the last two things I did on the build and I will only use one at a time on trips depending on our priorities.
Patrick I agree on everything you said, this build is top notch. I’m sure he spent many nights laying in bed trying to figure out how he was going to make something work or fit. Cabinetmakers are a step above when it comes to any kind of woodworking and this video proves it. There was no penny pinching on this project, that’s for sure! Thanks

I’m a retired finish carpenter and have had a few sleepless nights myself, I respect your skills. The countertop and table is beautiful. I’ve never seen anyone use straps for a motorized bed, you may have started a new trend. Thanks for letting us see your motorhome.

Like any good contractor you need to know when to get things done by others that will help make the job look great and do all the things that you do great yourself. Thanks for the compliment! I used a lot of high end materials that you can’t see throughout the whole build to last for the long haul. Havelock wool from front to rear for the best installation and all stainless steel strapping and hardware to mount tanks, air tank, compressor,and horns. The running boards and roof rack are all aluminum.

Don, my dad was in a van club back in the 70’s and use to customize vans. So it makes me NOT a great fan of the Winnebago’s of the wold. I was thinking about buying one but after seeing yours I’ll build my own.

It was quite an undertaking. When I finished it I was glad that everything worked out just right. It gets the bed out of the way to open up the whole back of the van, basically giving you twice as much space as a fixed bed. I’m glad you liked the video!
This man is an amazing energetic genius creator. He is SO lovable and his skills and talents are unbelievable! I am so impressed! WOW! This was one of the best van builds I've seen yet. I wasn't a fan of the drop down beds nor transforming tables + benches until I saw this. I especially liked the extra supports as that was always a concern of mine. I love the placement of it in the back with the doors right there for easy access, and so much more to this build. Just absolutely one of, if not THE best designs I've seen! Amazing job!

What a great comment! I appreciate it very much and thanks for actually watching the video all the way thru. A couple other commenters I had to remind them that the bed has two fixed positions. One when it is just the two of us (all the way down to the cabinets) and then down to the supports I made for when there are others staying in the bottom area. That splits the two areas into two equal spaces so each has its own head room. By the way, the supports are made out of very light weight solid cedar.

Amazing quality and detail...and it's gorgeous! I've been "dreaming" about a dinette like that with a lift bed over it! I just love that van. The only "adjustments" I'd want are to have the bed stop a bit higher up to give the folks sleeping below more headroom, and I prefer a gas engine. Beautiful build!
Thanks, all the thoughts of how I was going to accomplish this layout came together after much planning. Plans changed a couple times to get this layout to work. And yes it works very well. Thanks again for the compliments. I didn’t show the actual safety blocks that I made to keep the bed up another 14” when there will be people sleeping under the bed. It divides the area on the top and bottom sleeping quarters in half. That’s approximately 25” each. Hope that clarifies the bed situation.

It’s my first van build that I had to figure out, layout, and put together. A lot of sleepless nights thinking of how I’m going to solve the next step in the build. At the end I was quite pleased.

This is an excellent build. Fine craftsmanship, well thought out. Looks very nice inside. The ceiling looks good and the ceiling over the bed looks very nice. Electrical systems clean and neat. Large fresh water tank. Decent bathroom. Plenty of storage. Lots of power, .very nice rig. Intelligent cushions on the rear seating. Lower bed gonna be tight with the upper bed down. Overall a nice clean good looking functional rig. Good job Patrick.

I want to buy a travel trailer so bad. I have been researching and pricing them for a good six months but they are just built so cheaply that is what has stopped me. You would think for how expensive they are they would be built so much better. Maybe one day I will find one that is built well and take the plunge….lol. Thanks for the video!

Thanks a lot! The Mercedes ,I think personally, is the hardest to build like I did with the walls being curved. For instance the bed had to be about 16” narrower when it’s up than what the walls measure when down. It works out great though because there is 8” between the bed and the awning windows which allows a lot of air flow in and then up and out of the max air fan above. All the cabinets backs and the shower wall are all curved to maximize storage and room. Made some stuff for a friends Dodge Promaster and they are simple square boxes but also looks that way. Not the look I was going after.

We picked out this color to order the van and the wheels and tires were waiting for the van to come in for about 9 months. It’s a 2021 ordered in April of 21 and didn’t get delivered until 1/13/22. Had most of the hard materials before it ever showed up!
Really cool build! This guy has skills to do all that himself, and he really thought about all the little details.
