  • Chicken Tikka Dhansak at Rasoi Cottage, Redditch
    August 2022
    I was especially pleased to be invited to do some filming and cooking in the kitchens of Rasoi Cottage because they are listed as the no.1 top eatery in Redditch on Trip Advisor. The chef and owner Nasim Rubin Ahmed started cooking BIR style food from a very early age, and has a huge wealth of experience.
    I was interested in how Nasim (Rubin) cooks a Dhansak for customers, and he happily oblliged for the video. You'll see and hear by my reaction of tasting it that it was very good!
    Many thanks to Rubin and the staff at Rasoi Cottage!!!

    This place was my local greengrocers as a kid growing up in the 80s in Redditch. It was called 'Oakenstore.' The owners name was Ken and my best mate who went on to become my best man worked for him. Brings back some memories ❤

    I’m not convinced a 2nd ‘watery’ base is really necessary. Surely you can add some normal base and a splash of hot water to thin it out?

    Instead of dumping all that sugar in, use the juice of the pineapple.

      Yes but then it would taste sour. This is why he has a cooking channel and you don't mate.

    • @philstevens9914
      @philstevens9914 11 місяців тому

      @@WorldieFood First of all, who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that? I cook Indian, Thai and Indonesian which blows Indian and Thai. I have been trained by actual restaurant owners. I know what I am talking about. Any time I'm in the UK and order a Dhansak, it is finished with a whole can of pineapple rings and the juice. That does not make a Dhansak taste sour. Direct use of white sugar is bad for you and is your bodies enemy. White sugar is bleached and is proven to turn directly to fat and parts absorbed into your bone marrow. Turbinado sugar is better, palm sugar even better. You don't know what you're talking about, and another thing, I'm not your mate!

    all this base gravy in these BiR resturants,.. its there to make their lives easier but what it does is just make everything taste very similar, with the exception of a key ingredient here and there. not a fan of using it.

      I agree in some restaurants that's true but definitely isnt the case at the Rasoi. I eat there regularly and every dish is different .
