He called this region of the atom as a nucleus. Rutherford's model proposed that the negatively charged electrons surround the nucleus of an atom. He also claimed that the electrons surrounding the nucleus revolve around it with very high speed in circular paths. He named these circular paths as orbits.
Rutherford drawback was - He said that electrons moves in a circular path around the nucleus and as we all know that every body which moves in a circluar path will go through under accleration so electrons will also go through under acclerstion and will rediate (losse) energy because of which it will fall on nucleus and destroy it by which matter will become unstable
Well yes, Rutherford did state that electrons revolve around the nucleus in circular orbits.. However, since electrons are charged species (negatively charged) and according to Maxwells electromagnetic theory, any particle undergoing circular motion will accelerate. Hence, it will radiate energy..,hence, based on similar principles, if electron was to revolve around the nucleus without any specifications, which wasn't specified by Rutherford, would eventually lose energy and fall into the nucleus. However, in 1913, Bohr did come up with an atomic model to overcome the shortcomings of Rutherfords atomic model.
