Lighthouses are beautiful. The sounds of the water rushing against the rocks it makes me sleepy.❤
Makes me wonder how it was built on such a forbidding bit of rock. Imagine getting the materials there ... holding onto scaffolding as waves crash all about ... convincing the mortar to dry ... and all with the technology of 1899, the year of construction!
check out Bell Rock Light off the east coast of Scotland. Built in 1808 on a ledge that was submerged at all but low tide...amazing engineering feat. At one time the uppermost chamber was a Georgian library (so cool)
They didn't use mortar, it's made of cut granite stone and in place of mortar it's held together with molten lead.
SafeSpace2018 it is a joy to see these marvels nowadays with drone footage.
Back then, there were pretty smart people

I Love this. I've watched this many times. It is haunting for me because It would have been the last sight of Ireland the passengers on board the Titanic would have seen as they set sail for America on that fateful night in 1912.

This video on the Fastnet Lighthouse is one of the best I've seen. I love this. The music really makes the video come alive. One thing I would like to know, is how are they all maintained to keep them working properly? Surely they must need regular maintenance? They do a lot of work to keep all the ships and cargoes safe. I hope they are never demolished, it would be such a shame to lose them.

Amazing footage of such a beautiful lighthouse. It's such a pity that Irish Lights have destroyed it by covering the spectacular lens and opting for a horrible LED light on top of the lantern roof.

Which they've now ruined by removing the optic for an LED
I am from nearby Goleen where we protested against the placing of an LED light on the top of the tower but to no avail. It's an insult to those who built it and has severely compromised the appearance of this iconic outpost of Europe.

Disgraceful that CIL have degraded the iconic sweeping beam of this lighthouse with the approval of the Irish Government and add Unesco World "Heritage"
@Jericho The original lens has been decommissioned to be replaced with a horrible LED on the lantern roof. The Fresnel lens in this video are covered and no longer in use, all to save some money.
Was this filmed with an DJI Inspire 1 or 2? Or something else?
Just wondering how you managed to capture such amazing shots? I'm assuming you didn't launch the drone from the mainland. Was thinking about trying this myself with my DJI Phantom 3 professional, any tips?
